  • BMW X5 xDrive45e is a Plug-in Hybrid car. It has 3.0 l R6 turbo petrol engine (210 kW / 286 HP) plus electric motor (83 kW / 113 HP). Total system power: 290 kW (394 HP) 600 Nm. The lithium-ion battery capacity: 24.0 kWh gross (part of it - 20.9 kWh - is available for driving). BMW claims X5 xDrive 45e can cover 86-97 km (WLTP) (up to 54 mi) in all-electric mode. I checked it in a city. Result: 85 km (52.8 mi) in real test (eco-driving in a city). Total energy used: 20.1 kWh.
    Results for outside of the city speeds:
    90 km/h: 24.2 kWh/100 km | 390 Wh/mi | 2.57 mpkWh | estimated range: ~84 km | ~52 mi
    120 km/h: 34.6 kWh/100 km | 557 Wh/mi | 1.8 mpkWh | estimated range: ~59 km | ~36.5 mi

    Super test. Jak wyglada sprawa z ogrzewaniem / klimatyzacją - widzę, że na zewnątrz ciągle około 1 stopnia - ogrzewanie też zużywa energie.

    Seems like with a Plug-in Hybrid, miles is not a good measure of engine life. Does the engine have an "hour meter" or something to determine its state-of-wear and service intervals?

    Great test, pretty impressive results even more so considered the cold temperature. Did you maybe test the mpg on gasoline with a completely depleted battery? There is an argument against plug-in hybrids about the extra gasoline usage due to the additional weight. Is it true and if so, how bad it really is?

    Woah. How do you manage to have such a small energy consumption? The lowest I’ve seen on my car was 27kwh/100 km. And it’s about 33-34kwh/100kwh on average. I have 21st inch stock wheels with pirelli tires.

    How is the performance of the electric motor in this heavy car ?

      It is OK, just OK. You don't need more power if you drive in a let's say normal way. But... I think in this car, this size of the battery, this weight, they should put stronger engine, sth. around 100 kW. At least, it is BMW :)

    If you are riding on full electric, why does the petrol range change throughout the test? It is also consuming petrol?

    • @1001cars
      @1001cars  2 роки тому

      On the left side you have combined range (fuel + electric)
