I normally don't post this, but I love this song so much I had to post it just for me (and so I can listen to it in the hospital)! The chords are: A - F#m - Bm - E --> A - G - D - E --> A - F#m - Bm - E
I looked little deeper into the chords. The chords are basically just as you figured, A - F#m - Bm7(I hear so) - E7. But from his old live version(low quality audio thing), he uses ton of interesting voicings. For example, instead of just Bm7, he plays B7sus2-B7sus. And for the G chord, he plays something like G6(9), which is an awsome place to stop by while moving from A to Bm. Also you can replace Bm7 with D or Dsus2 and it will sound just right(Dsus2 sounds better). John Mayer just never stops teaching me.
There were rumors he wanted to call the album of unreleased songs or those not recorded on studio "Zero", which is pretty clever. Not sure which idea i like it more, because "Continnued" fits his funny side too
Wow. Best love song John has ever written. there's no doubt in my mind if he released this in 2006 on Continuum it would have been the biggest hit he ever had. This is "Thinking Out Loud" years earlier. Knowing how easily John forgets how to play his old songs live... this must really still be that special for him to remember how to play it and still know the lyrics. I'm sure it'll come out one day when he's ready.

I think every artist should write and record at least one more extra song for each record they put out, and not release it until years later. Artists change so much over time, as everyone does, which would make the final release so much more meaningful and well-received, because listeners can hear that special sound once again, the sound they thought was lost to time, in a seemingly brand new song. It’s actually a bit sad.
Does anyone know more songs like this one? Like simple love ballads played on electric guitar, I feel like I've heard this style before but can't seem to find it. Thanks in advance

Wow, totally didn't expect him to resurrect this one. There's a great video on here (audio with pics) of him playing it to a crowd during the making of Continuum. He also performed the song back in 2004 at Housing Works for a small room, where he also debuted Another Kind of Green, both on acoustic guitar. My feeling is that he later wrote I'm Gonna Find Another You and replaced this with that tune since they are musically in the same slow BB King blues vein. This would have definitely been a great bonus track. Our loss. Here's a link to an earlier performance: ua-cam.com/video/-xbv6Ow0TAQ/v-deo.html
He also played it at the viper room at a private party for his then girlfriend & my boss when I was working for my previous employer. I like this one with the electric better
Oh yeah that’s gotta be the black one and the dumble. So good! I would’ve loved to have heard that solo ramp up for another few minutes going into the blues scale stuff more than he did.
