Am I the only one who has the opposite problem to these guys when I go to a guitar store and want to try out gear? I can play heaps of stuff and improvise riffs and stuff fairly well but as soon as I am put on the spot in front of other people I just freeze and don't really try anything. I usually, just play a couple of chugs here and there jam unplugged. I am pretty self conscious about not pissing people off I guess, I just don't want be like these guys.
Of course it sounds cool when you shred with distortion, but if you want a tasteful solo, try clean settings. Anyone can shred with distortion on. Distortion can cover up peoples mistakes when soloing. So if you want a nice sound to your playing then clean is a good option. Unless you want to stick to line 6 where every mediocre shredder plays on.
Yeah I hate walking in and hearing 6 people playing at loud volume. I always use the room and have my girlfriend stand outside and give me the thumbs up when it gets too loud, so we have an acceptable volume that doesn't bother people. If I do crank it, it's just to see how loud it can get and never for longer than a few quick chugs.
+Ivan Lunev The one blues/jazz player in the entire store, who can't hear themselves over the obnoxious shredders. It's a painful experience, and I've experienced it many times.
At my guitar center, instead of loud shredheads, I get loud Jazz guitarists. No fucking clue where they come from. I turn around and all of the sudden someone playing Jazz Odyssey behind me.
They sound nice and they're versatile perfect for a beginner to find his sound. But as an R'n'R and R'n'B guy I can't use it's full range I only play crunch or clean and I crap my pants whenever I accidently press the metal button.
13superdude2 I'm using a Line 6 right now, I feel like it works for me but then again the only other amp I've ever owned is a shitty Fender starter amp. Any recommendations for an intermediate metal player?
When you practice only a few riffs and runs constantly for years and then try to force them together... this is what it sounds like, lol... rule number 1... play with soul... every time... you don't have to be Yngwie to be a badass... take a page from David Gilmour.
I wouldn't argue that some of Yngwie's music is soulful (I love his Concerto Suite album especially), my only point was that you don't have to shred like him to be "good", haha... and yes.. these guys wouldn't have a clue (most likely) with a click/backing track.
In the meantime, real guitarists are trying to hear themselves over the noise these kids are making, and there are customers running for the door. Several employees are probably contemplating suicide.
+Brad Beastly I think you can try any of the amps. At least the one i go to in my area, they have all the amps plugged in, cords jacked and picks at the ready for test runs. Fender, Marshall, Line 6, eetc. Even the very high end items are up for test runs. But it could be different there, yeah.
+Andrew Frazier You can get good sound out of the Spider IV line. They aren't bad amps. I have the 30-watt and I've kinda tweaked it to sound as much like a Marshall CFX30 as I can get, but oh well. Has more to do with the player than the amp and the instrument anyway, though I DO get what you're saying. GC has full half-stack cabinets available and these jokers decided to play on something you use at home... xD Good choice... losers...
+Brad Beastly Judging by his video, i do not believe he is kidding. I am curious on what amps he has on hand to use. I only tried a Line 6 recently. As well as a Marshall, and my main is a Fender Mustang 4. Line 6 has a sound to it that comes off as artificial. But that's not enough for me to call it bad, personally.
Idk about you but when I play guitar and I'm playing something fast it's really fun. Not everything fast is good and fast isn't the same as skill but sometimes it's just fun to play a face melting solo. However I'm not a huge fan of what they were playing
What's the point of playing guitar if you can't be a show off? that's like saying Usain bolt doesn't wanna be part of the Olympics because he doesn't want to out run everyone.
+Tortured Artists Inc. There's alot to learn about guitar playing. like Major seventh chords for R&D, 12 string blues, microtonal guitar playing sure there's alot. now guitar theory and philosophy there's something else.
and they're not even impressive. a bunch of pre practiced common shreds and taps? congrats, you play notes really fast. go show off to the middle schoolers who are actually impressed by that talentless garbage
I like how you are able to practice stuff at guitar center especially with the percussion stuff. It's always great to experiment with new gear and get an on hand experience with the stuff before you buy it.
Whenever, I hear guitarists like this playing like that at Guitar Center, I play rhythm for them and play off what they're playing. Or if I'm the one going crazy soloing, then I'll play off what chords they're playing. Easy way to jam.
I'm sure the salespeople at Guitar Center really appreciate these guys making a huge fucking racket for a half hour, then walking out without buying anything.
the third guy at the end is good....but he ended up sounding like shit because he's rushing and not taking the time to think. he plays like 4 memorized licks and then just continues playing even before he's decided what he's going to play. give him some music theory lessons and he'll be great. right now..that was ear rape
At first I was like 'man that chick shreds', then I was like 'man that chick has a deep voice', then I was like 'man that chick has a boyfriend apparently'
Looks like it's the same no matter which GC you go into, and cements my stance that there's is no way GC is justified in selling any guitar hanging on their walls as "new."
how long did it take you guys to learn to improvise stuff like this? i just started guitar (literally bought it today) and this seems like it will take me 14 and 1/2 centuries to learn to do this stuff lol any tips?
Missing Caption: "Hey......huh huh huh......I'm like in a band dude.....heh heh. I've got nothing to do all day so I just come to Guitar Center to hang out, scrape up their merchandise and put it back on the wall.......heh heh. Hey....anybody got any money for some food!? Lemme call my mom then and ask her!"
I am not a metal player at all and I cannot shred, so can anyone explain me why their playing is bad? While I agree their attitudes seem kinda off, it sounds somewhat ok to me.
Timliu92 they're sloppy, don't know how to mute unused strings, have mediocre tone that sounds like a line6 amp on the Extreme preset, and lastly are neither shredding not respecting other customers by using the store as a playground
umm that's really not true imo... an all round good guitarist will know how to set up his tone. A good musician, though, may not know that much about tone, eg mikael akerfeldt from opeth. These guys thou where sitting right next to mesa boogies and marshalls/fenders, and chose to jam their shit on the line 6s... Combined with the out of beat, mindless fuckery, they are pretty bad players imo :D
The first guy's picking technique is really bad. The second guy played a brand new guitar he didn't own against the buckle of his leather jacket, for fuck's sake.
This is the internet where many of us could be considered better than them. They're not that great so you know that out of the 150,000 people that watched it someone has to be be a lot better right?
I play guitar. And the first guitarist with the white guitar has little to no substance and coordination wit hhis picking hand vs his frt hand. notice how he constantly picks with his arm. bad idea.
that was pathetic and they look over 20 least i just turned 19 and can tell that these fools need to work on their overall playing fluency jesus that shit sounded like raining distorted dog shit
I know these guys are posers but who cares? In my town at least the employees at GC are generally fun and cool about shitty players jamming. Meanwhile at the more exclusive indie guitar store the owners and staff are very snobby and the place is usually quiet. If you want to play something you have to ask and then have people stare at you and put you on the spot if you aren't a jazz badass or fingerpicker. Fuck that it's supposed to be fun. I've been sucking at guitar for a few years and I'm really put off by the internet experts and insecure dicks. I say grab a few easy power chords and have fun! One idea for GC would be to put headphones on every amp so people didn't have to hear you though. When I suck I suck at a reasonable volume.
+brian fastabend haha when i went to buy my first guitar my cousin went with to me to a snobby place like you was talking about and started playing a behemoth song. the yuppies didnt say jack shit because of how we look but you could tell they were less than thrilled xD
The worst part of guitar center is all that fucking distortion. Dear God, you can’t even hear what that first guy’s playing. He has some skills but lacks fluidity so it would sound terrible either way. Second guy is amazing
when i'm watching some slayer or pantera live performances i'm losing my hope to be good guitar player but when i saw this it was like "lol i'm guitar god"
And here we see the species known as shredicus maximus or the king of guitar center in his natural habit. Notice how he blatantly gives no regard for those around him trying to test out potential gear. It is because of this, that he and his species are hunted by the slightly larger marshallcus jackassus, other wise called the volume devil.
Perfect example of what I don't want to hear on a Saturday in a Music store. I think I'd either yank the plug or spray them with the first available fire extinguisher
what you do at Guitar Center (Apparently) Step 1) find a guitar that has EMG's or some shit (any 6-9 string will do) Step 2) Find the shittiest amp possible (always a line 6), Step 3) scoop all the mids out, and increase the Gain and treble. 4) play the same arpeggios, and scales up and down the neck. and step 5) (optional) Either play them like a machine with no distinct sound, or play it sloppier than sloppy seconds.
What is wrong with what they are doing? They sound and play pretty AWESOME! Why are humans such douchebag idiots? Just because someone enjoys playing an instrument and looks a certain way does not make them less of a person. Half of the people commenting could not play this well. Give props where they are do!! Good Job guys!!
Funny, this just happened last night in Arlington heights. I was playing a bass and a " shred head" starts blasting behind me. Most of those guys can't afford the guitars they're playing.
Translation: "Somebody pay attention to me!"
buddy if u could play like that u would do the same
Second guy is a much better player than the first clown..
cast390 glad I read all the comments first I agree with you
That's like saying being burnt to death is better than drowning.
Yeah butthead smokes beavis

it happens to me too, a lot hahaha... but if you try it wearing headphones and listening drums or any song, you can get a little bit inspired XD
I'm the same way.
Yeah I'm the same dude
Dude I can relate 100%
Yeah but the guys in the video aren't very skilled. :D
Now... Play that on clean settings.
Arnold Arias thats no fun
If it helps getting your shedding and soloing to sound nicer and more efficient, then its pretty fun.
dosent sound as cool shreding on clean then it dose on distortion.

line 6 isnt a bad amp
Here we see Shredicus Maximus, the King of Guitar Center in his natural state
Ben Eller 4 LYFE
Watch and observe how he scratches and dents brand new guitars, then hangs them back on the wall...oh, he's a sly creature this one.
+Anakin Skywalker I have all of his albums.....They make great drink coasters.
The best part was 3:33
Played wrong!
Lol! Thank you.
Those are the most annoying guys at every guitar center. I know I sound jelous, but you know it's fucking true.
Especially when they decide to sit next to a blues/jazz player. You just feel so sorry for the guy.
sad but true
Solaire of Astora i agree.I go to guitar center to see if they're are any good guitars, not to show off.
+Ivan Lunev
The one blues/jazz player in the entire store, who can't hear themselves over the obnoxious shredders. It's a painful experience, and I've experienced it many times.

No fucking clue where they come from. I turn around and all of the sudden someone playing Jazz Odyssey behind me.
Playing jazz is hard to learn. So that I respect.
i play blues and jazz.. jazz chords are so complicated and harder than blues.. i love blues more though.. cuz it gave me different feeling 😎
and candy ear to listen to
that's badass tho.the type of music I like when shipping. and trully shows off the tone of the instrument
that's badass tho.the type of music I like when shipping. and trully shows off the tone of the instrument
This right here. This is the problem with guitar center.
couldn't have said it better myself
Ok boomer
Wym this makes me wanna train and raise my guitar power level
@@eking5165 I agree with you
All those beautiful amps there and they play through Line 6 Spiders :/
Yes. They are decent affordable practice amps, but that's it.
13superdude2 completely agree. Um... don't play the dual rectifier or anything...
They sound nice and they're versatile perfect for a beginner to find his sound.
But as an R'n'R and R'n'B guy I can't use it's full range I only play crunch or clean and I crap my pants whenever I accidently press the metal button.
Hahahaha I never payed attention to that I was distracted by how Sloppy the guy in white was.
13superdude2 I'm using a Line 6 right now, I feel like it works for me but then again the only other amp I've ever owned is a shitty Fender starter amp. Any recommendations for an intermediate metal player?

this kind makes me wanna pick up the accordion instead
Tony Morris innovative!
You couldn't pay me enough to sit there all day and listen to all these Zakk Milds
Speed over Quality
I think you got those mixed m8
Apple Zack Nope i got it right. There is no quality just speed.
Oh i thought you neant they were doing quality not speed and i was like uhhhh
Fedir Belenko I didn't hear or see any sweep picking lol. Unless kids these days call something else sweep picking lol.
LucifersArms666
3:02 dude
In the meantime, real guitarists are trying to hear themselves over the noise these kids are making, and there are customers running for the door. Several employees are probably contemplating suicide.
Lmao! Your comment made my night. I'm sitting here laughing at 1 in the morning.
Orlando Figueroa :-)
Made my morning :P You made me lol at 3 am :)
5150icantdrive55 ;-)
lolling at 2 am here xd
all the amps they could choose from and they both chose a Line 6, Amatures!
You have to consider what GC would allow them to play.
+Brad Beastly I think you can try any of the amps. At least the one i go to in my area, they have all the amps plugged in, cords jacked and picks at the ready for test runs. Fender, Marshall, Line 6, eetc. Even the very high end items are up for test runs. But it could be different there, yeah.

he needs more zippers and buckles to really fuck up the back of that brand new guitar hes not going to pay for.
Guitar center...home to unemployed musicians trying to land record deals
I knew it. I gotta start busking in front of guitar center!
Pyrozombies must really suck.
I dont wanna be mean but why dont these guys let other people hear the guitar their testing out
Because they are dicks, in sac, these kids flood in by the bus load and it's fucking annoying
Victor Vega I noticed that when I went to sac guitar center....it was kinda annoying
who els heard Nirvana in Bloom in the backrouns
backround
Yep I that made my day
lady heroin.123 YES ONE OF MY FAVORITE NIRVANA SONGS!
Me
lady heroin.123 yeah
Omg at the end the guy said "ITS PHIL X!" I'm dying
TWO more reason why you should listen to Guthrie Govan instead, and NEVER enter a Guitar Center or Sam Ash.
The Aristocrats. Now that's music. Everyone should listen to this guy, he knows what he's talking about.
Kick these guys out of the store immediately.
no
why?
Because they're better than him. Lmao
Playing guitar without any feeling is a total waste of time.
Idk about you but when I play guitar and I'm playing something fast it's really fun. Not everything fast is good and fast isn't the same as skill but sometimes it's just fun to play a face melting solo. However I'm not a huge fan of what they were playing
So sloppy fretboard wankery on out of tune guitars on Line 6 amps is what passes as a shred battle nowadays? How silly.
these guys are showoffs
the stupid people at guitar center are like 'oh yeah you think you can play? watch this'
What's the point of playing guitar if you can't be a show off? that's like saying Usain bolt doesn't wanna be part of the Olympics because he doesn't want to out run everyone.

yes the guitarists for a band no one knows...and youve just seen why.
Yikes... Try playing with a metronome once in a while
EEEEAAAAT A PIZZA ONCE INA WHIIIILE!!!!.... ^_^
Every melodic player getting upset because shredders are shredding
I like how you are able to practice stuff at guitar center especially with the percussion stuff. It's always great to experiment with new gear and get an on hand experience with the stuff before you buy it.
Legend says those men didn't buy shit that day
Whenever, I hear guitarists like this playing like that at Guitar Center, I play rhythm for them and play off what they're playing. Or if I'm the one going crazy soloing, then I'll play off what chords they're playing. Easy way to jam.
or buy a guitar, and stop annoying potential costumers at GC
Both aren't as good as they think they are
Neither are bad but I do agree
+devin ostrom who said they think there good? there just jamming
That moment when a guy thinks repetitive bar chords and running through the same scale over an over makes you a good guitar player...
+gtrmaster2000 but bro... hes shredding and playing notes so fast... hes gotta be good..
it makes you an eh guitar player
+xNamsu muscle memory and repetition can have the effect of false shredding.
BLAZING waffle56 That is so true.
I know. There is a million of those clowns out there. It's trendy and really werid.
I'm sure the salespeople at Guitar Center really appreciate these guys making a huge fucking racket for a half hour, then walking out without buying anything.
Agree about the noise, but you don't always have to buy something. If I don't find anything I like, I ain't buying anything.
>guy plugs into line 6 spider. >turns off video
the third guy at the end is good....but he ended up sounding like shit because he's rushing and not taking the time to think. he plays like 4 memorized licks and then just continues playing even before he's decided what he's going to play.
give him some music theory lessons and he'll be great. right now..that was ear rape
did they buy anything or were they just your typical waste of space ponies?
At first I was like 'man that chick shreds', then I was like 'man that chick has a deep voice', then I was like 'man that chick has a boyfriend apparently'
When people say they can sweep
oh really tell me how you dont sound like everyone else on youtube with their emgs on lmao
Lol, so true, that's why they have line 6 amps so it can cover up the sloppyness and mistakes.
well I was impressed with pony tails master of that flying V but the other kid with the white guitar was just makin noise.
the second guy is good.
jasper426 can you play better ?
they're both pretty terrible
Ben Randolph i have watched your Videos you actually can’t play better then these guys
@@leon_rr1254 thank you, sir!
Great playing from both!! Let's hear some Jazz licks... ;) Just kidding, you guy's can indeed shred! Keep it up, Rock and Rolls next generation!
ponytails actually not bad
Below is the Link to my New Video Tapping Arpeggios From Hell. Thank You for Listening. Take Care.
At least they're better than Lil Wayne at guitar. But then again who isn't lol.
Jesus this guy couldn't stay in key to save his god damn life.
i hate these guys, at least the second guy was pretty good tho.
How the hell did 244 people not like this!!! This video is freaking bad ass
nah
Well I think it's awesome!!!^__^V

10 years later, I'm wondering if you ever became that guitar god.
Good guitar players both of them. Everyone writing shit in this comment section ain't on here, they don't get payed for their music. Their shit
If the kid in the white didn't seem so jumpy and relaxed with his playing, he'd sound so much better.
I would love to work at guitar center
On the other side of those amps is me, trying to seriously judge the merits of eight different hollowbodies and teles. I am not doing well.
there was a shred battle? these two are amazing! Greetings from England- the home of sarcasm! xx
