Hey, I see a lot of negative comments. I just want to thank you for what you’re doing. 🩷Don’t let all the negativity get to you. You’re helping people understand the Bible
Notice the only “Bad” aspect was that it was a subscription service. No other negative criticism. I never would have got my $2000+ Platinum package had I known about the forthcoming subscription service. Basically my logos package is “bricked” unless I sign up for a subscription and receive potential updates and new features. And for my trouble all they offer me is a measly 5% discount in the store and a consolation gift of a free book a month which is the equivalent of a glorified pamphlet. I’m sorry but this is only a way for Logos to establish and stabilize reoccurring revenue. In addition, other than the AI feature, the 5% discount and the free monthly book, there is no specificity to the new “features” available. It is only advertised as staying current with the latest updates as they become available. In other words, if you already have Logos in any form, in order to keep it functioning at optimal performance, time to pay up again, every month.
Updates are free. The software will continue getting updates with no subscription. You just don't get new features. You do not own a brick without a subscription.
I love the follow only option for commentaries in the mobile version of Logos. Coming from mobile first and then to desktop much later I was very surprised to see that this wasn't a feature in desktop Logos.
I love using Logos! I'm already subscribed to the Pro tier but I agree with you about the sermon slides and lack of Grammarly support. I hope they fix it!
Logos has really transformed Bible study, which is great. The switch to a subscription model caught me off guard, though. I just found the full feature set at half price and am thinking about getting it. Honestly, sometimes it feels like it might have been better to stick with the previous version
I’m considering the subscription. I gathered quite the library during seminary. Some books came through the university but I spent much more on my own. One of my favorite newest features prior to subscription era, was the scan in my digital library. But as I am getting ready to retire from the Navy, I have to be mindful of the number of subscriptions I have. In regards to the new AI, isn’t that what Factbook has already been doing?
Two things I bitterly despise: AI and subscription fees. But I'm really struggling to hate on this particular deployment of these two things. This may be one of the only examples I've ever seen of these technologies being used for good instead of evil. You mentioned the math, when comparing upgrade cost and subscriptions. You have a point. I learned this the hard way back when I bought the MS Office standalone package to avoid a MS 365 subscription fee. But if you do the math, the cost of the monthly fees add up to about the same price as the full package in two years anyway. So financially all I did by buying the software outright is deny myself continual updates.
A terrible move that really hoses the missionaries and others in poorer countries. I have gifted copies of LOGOS before and was about to give another, but I don't want to burden anyone with that ongoing cost. There was no reason to go subscription when they were already making a fine profit. Just pure corporate greed.
I’m not worried about the subscription. I will pay it gladly. I’m just coming out of the stone ages. I’ve been doing everything manually with Books. This is like Heaven sent
The "subscription model" for software is nearly a universal method for selling these kinds of products. Logos has yet to communicate to their customers clearly what happens to those of us who are satisfied with the Logos 10 feature set and only wish to expand resources as time goes on. I've been a Logos user since the 4.x days. At what point will those of us who only care about expanding resources get left in the dust after having spent THOUSANDS of dollars on the software? Surely their resource sales are profitable?
I understand that. Have you considered doing a two year purchase? I just thought about this because then you get to keep all the new features if you don't renew and it's exactly the same as upgrading every two years (which is what Logos has always done before). It's basically the same that way and you aren't locked in forever either
@ Honestly I don’t use the program much anymore. I am not doing any in depth studies or anything like that. Thanks for the suggestion. God bless you and all you love.
@@BrianVallottonI’ll admit I haven’t looked at Olive Tree in several years, but I remember it being ridiculously limited. I basically just had the Bible and a commentary. Also, it was basically just Zondervan titles.
Subscription? No thanks, I won;t be moving into the new era. Starting a subscription service in 2024 is very 2020. Perhaps I'm the only one, but I'm cancelling more and more subscriptions and look for solutions that allow to pay once.
Agreed. I have no issue with any company creating new products and revenue streams. The difference with Logos is that they have for decades stated "When you purchase resources they are OWNED BY YOU in perpetuity." I have that sinking feeling that in order for me to use the products THAT I OWN, I will need to purchase the "wrapper" to maintain access to my purchased products. I will stay with Logos 10. Logos ownership came from the Microsoft world. Embrace - Extend - Extinguish. It's 1997 all over again it appears.
@@michaelmartin5995 You said you own the Logos 10 data set, "the wrapper." That in itself should give you reassurance that you will not be "bricked" and you will always have access to all of the RESOURCES that you own perpetually. You can just choose to keep what you have and not opt-in to the subscription model they have decided to go with. I hope this reassures you Michael.
@@benjamina6915 if you already own Logos 10 (the wrapper) you will always have access to ALL your purchased resources. You will not be required to pay for a subscription, so breathe a sigh of relief my brother.
Can someone please clarify library? Does logos come with all types of commentary that are already within logos. And I had my personal books with that barcode. Is that what my personal library means.
Great Video - thank you! LOGOs - please listen to the requests I agree whole heartedly. And I would add we NEED the ability to print from the iPad app. I would also say that the prompt to save your layout is a good feature. I almost always hit save - I would hate to lose that or have to take the other steps to save. Maybe the option to turn that off would be ok. I love the new model - very reasonable prices and actually makes it more attainable to more people. Considering that many people used a payment plans on the old system - not really a big difference here.
I feel like they took away the academic and starter and put them into the subscriptions plans. I have Logos 10 and a legacy 9 library. I liked that you could get what you “wanted” or “needed” for more in depth study. You could buy everything separately. Now, it seems like you have to buy a subscriptions to get into the “depth” of study. I understand why they did it but needless to say as for now I am not a fan. It is more affordable though.
I want to use Logos for reading specific books due to the linked verses ability. Do you see any reason to buy the subscription version if I simply want to buy some books and study bibles ala carte? I am not a teacher or pastor. Also, do you see any "woke" influences that are embedded in Logos staff and the instructors they use for classes? I know that Michael Heiser was in an important position in Logos but he passed away. I would disagree with his focus on using ancient near east documents to interpret OT scriptures. Fair enough, but I am wondering if there is a large "woke" influence on Logos. Thanks.
Hey Brandon, I tried signing up on your website for the Seven-Step Sermon Prep Checklist and Sermon Outline template and have yet to get anything from you. I also tried sending you a message through your website and it gave me an error. Would you be able to assist? Thank you very much!

Yes

You don’t need to get a subscription. Logos will continue to run but with no AI.
