Movies, games, and the occasional editorial.
From A-Z list films, video games, and other overlooked goodness.
One of the movies when the box art is better than the film.
The 80s were hella full of great box art, baaaaaaad movies.
So so so true
Like Atari games back in the day.
Don't you think I should have some gay soldiers fighting. I mean it's all straight white man. I think they should put some gay ass soldiers in there to really fck sht up
True of so many straight to video movies back in the 80s.
The A-Team we have at home.
If Roy Boy needs another nickname I nominate "Not Kurt Russell"
Gotta love how this feels like a combination of The A-team and Death Wish 3.
Kudos for not taking the easy joke and calling them "The B Team". Proud of you, Cecil!
I sometimes go for the easy joke but today was not that day :)
@@GoodBadFlicks Sometimes a groaner gag is warranted, but not this time. 😅
"The B team" seems somewhat generous.
Probably my favorite Gerrit Graham roles is that of Jay Sherman's dad Franklin on "The Critic." That character's alcohol-fueled insanity was always heartwarming.
“Dad, why is there a banana in your ear?”
(Quietly) “I’m trying to lure the monkey out.”
"A Penguin?!!! AND HE'S BEEN DRINKING!!! Wait a minute--- PENGUINS CAN'T FLY!!! PENGUINS CAN'T FLY!!!!"
@@ProfessorHurt "I don't care how many stewardesses you've bagged; you're a lousy pilot!"
"A peanut is neither a pea, nor a nut. Oh wait, it is a nut."
You know it's a bad neighborhood when there's a Blue oyster cult logo spray painted on a wall
Or maybe it was the neighborhood where the church was from john carpenters prince of darkness. (The devil used that sigil)
Remember renting this waaaaay back in the mid-eighties. It's a fun movie. And no one will ever confuse Mr. Jacobs for Mr. T. Thanks, Cecil. You are the best.
Regarding the 'tasting drugs' trope: in the Drew Carey show, there was an episode where a bag of suspicious white powder is found in the office. The security officer dips his finger in, touches it to his tongue and issues the pronouncement "I have no idea what cocaine tastes like."
Gerrit Graham was great in Phantom of the Paradise. I've never heard of The Annihilators before!
Also in used cars with Kurt Russell, one of my favorites.
I remember him from _Class Reunion_ (1982): "I'm _not_ a Green Beret!"
Always happy to see a Robot Jox callback!
:)
I know he's done loads of other work; but, whenever Gerrit Graham turns up on my screen, I think of Beef in the Phantom of Paradise.
"Hobo With A Shotgun", it's like "Annihilators", its like "The A Team", it's like "The Magnificent Seven".
Andy Wood who played Woody was also the main POW Rambo saved in Rambo: First Blood Part II. He looked SO familiar to me.
Oh man! I remember this! It felt cheesy even back then. But it was a fun little mindless action flick. And that move where he throws himself butt first at the two guys looks like something a fat enemy would do in a side scrolling beat-'em-up. Keep rolling out the these nostalgia bombs, Cecil!
Thanks!
The deadly spinning butt-flip!
6:30. They are gonna make SO many pancakes.
The people fighting back in The Annihilators seems better than in Death Wish 3.
I love middle-age vigilante dads vs street gangs made up of non-scary balding 30-year-olds wearing accidental homoerotic 80s fashion movies. We need this genre back. Some of the death wish sequels also fit this genre.
Always got to have that flamethrower on the movie poster whenever you're describing some dystopian apocalyptic future.
I think that's just supposed to be a bigass gun going BOOM! But at least there's a flamethrower in the movie, eh?
@@MandleRoss 90% of the reason that I clicked this video was to see if there was some sort of made for movie grenade launcher.
It was just the usual story of a cover artist painting something without looking too closely at how it looked.
Yeah, was probably just told to paint a big, powerful looking gun and made one up.
"The Annihilators. It's like the A-Team .... uh, that's pretty much it. It's like the A-Team." LMAO
:)
That crazy, wrestling-esque double takedown is awesome! I guess I missed this one 'cuz I was anticipating Invasion USA. 😆
I remember renting this movie from the local video store, like, every week.
The “Satisfaction” beat drop was too good. 🤣 God I love this channel so much
:)
The A-Team, except the bullets hit their targets and people die. Thank you for another great video!
You are very welcome!
Damn, when I saw the meat mallet scene I realized that I have seen this movie but it was WAY back when, early 90s maybe. You continuously bring back long forgotten memories with your videos. Keep it up. You have to do a review of the 1980 vigilante movie "The Exterminator". It also about a Vietnam vet turned vigilante. I haven't seen it since I was a kid back then. All I remember is there's ascene where he kills a guy by smashing him in a garbage truck.
I'm surprised at how good the cast is! I never heard of this movie until now... I definitely need to check it out!
I remember this flick!! I love the call for help!!!
Is that Beef from Phantom of The Paradise?!
Yes it is.
I remember the poster for this when it first came out! This video reminded me of the actual title, which I'd long forgotten, and I was so excited to finally find out who the masked guy was... oh, bugger.
Now THAT is a movie poster
Never heard of this one before, and yeah it has a lot of similarities with the A Team all right. Looks like a fun movie, thanks for the review as always Cecil!
Thanks!
While the surfaces events were taking place, Frank Kersey was taking out the other gangs behind the scenes.
Maybe I've seen too much of this channel, but you'd think that a veteran in a wheelchair would pack some kind of heat with him, even if they're not the spring-loaded kind.
I saw this movie for sale on Kino Lorber’s website, the plot synopses they provided reminded me of Death Wish 3.
RIP Christopher Stone 🙏
Woody's unique combat style would be revived centuries later by Captain James T. Kirk, as demonstrated in the documentary "Tomorrow is Yesterday".
Yes! Loving these weekly uploads!
:)
"It like the A Team"
It certainly is lol
The same guy responsible for Silent Night, Deadly Night, nice. You killed Garret Graham!!
The people of Ferrix want their tapping signal back ! ..... this is the way ! 😆
The annihilators are here to fight the war against drugs. A tale as old as time.
The powdered sugar joke made me laugh far more than it should have.
:)
I had a friend who was a cop and he said you'd be fired SO fast for doing it
You know if it's got Veitnam war scenes it's from the 80s.
This does look cheesy as hell and as equally fun. And not in a so bad it's good kind of way. As an 80s kid I still remember the culture back then, how people weren't overly serious or perfectionist about movies. And low budget action flicks like these were appreciated for what they were. They were products of their time, and it was the best time.
They were more ernest. It was just "we want to make an action movie" and no other nonsense.
Nice to hear the cast got along so well.
"If you're ever a town in trouble. Overrun by gangs, hooligans, and various caricatures of stereotypical bad guys, and you need help...
Call...The Meh-Team."
Ok thats a good one :)
I laughed so hard at Tony Boney and the banana phoneys i actually peed a little
4:40 Beef AND Boom Boom in the same movie!?! Count me in!!!
Cecil + Audio = best stuff on a Documentary
:)
I was waiting that whole video to learn the identity of the masked man. Excellent reveal!
This is what Joe Bob Briggs called an "assemble the squad" movie.
Re. 11:38: As Humphrey Bogart once said, "she tried to sit in my lap, and I was standing up at the time."
I was about 3/4's of the way through when i noticed Freddie 'Boom Boom' Washington ! ah , the sweathogs !
You doing a commentary track ? sounds like a winner !
I haven't listened to the commentary since we recorded it but the company was very happy with it and asked me to do another, so I'll take that as a good sign. :)
"Random Idiot Child" has gotten many would-be heroes killed in several 80s action films.
100%
Roy Boy And The Rollers was the original title for Eddy and The Cruisers.
2:58
Hey! That Trinitron is gonna be worth some nice money in 5 decades! We'll see who's laughing then.
As what a boat anchor? lol :)
Group leader was actor Christopher Stone who was in many tv shows and was married to Dee Wallace of The Howling
To a degree it also resembles "The Substitute", although that film was about soldiers of fortune not war vets. I seem to remember almost all action pictures in the 80s centered on Vietnam vets in some way.
Joe had that coming for wearing a Braves hat
1:31 love that classic Atlanta Braves hat though.
It took me 3 minutes to realize I actually have seen this movie before. I thought i dreamed the this.
There's a few people who said this.
Cecil, this plot is like one of those apocalyptic wasteland movies you love 😂
just without that pesky apocalypse part
R.I.P. Christopher Stone
4:27 The Rainbow Mika butt slam, works every time
Blessings Cecil. Keep it up.
Thanks, you too!
I'm pretty sure Roy Boy and the Rollers were just the band booked to play that weekend at Joe's Disco Tavern. Those dudes got _funky_ .
Time to Irish up that coffee! Hahahaha!
"People have been murdered by unknown assailants; what do you mean no one wants to be seen identifying them?"
I actually saw this on cable way back in the day. Yes it's goofy, silly, zany, a "A-Team ripoff", but it is curiously entertaining, just go with it & enjoy!! So 80s plus any movie that has Freddie "BOOM BOOM" Washinghton & Paul Koslo (who was an underrated actor ) is definetly must see C Plus - B minus flick. That cross body block scene in the alley way might have been an homage to Capt. Kirk StarTrek: S2 E10 "Journey To Babel". Lol Kirk with one of his typical badass moments!
0:15 Exactly!
1:46 May he Rest In Peace.
9:05 😂
I did see this film sometime last year I wasn't the biggest fan it seem like New World Pictures was trying hard to be a Cannon Group film of that era like in that same year this film come out they had "Death Wish 3" which is my favorite Cannon Group&Bronson film period IMHO. Another fun installment Cecil👍👍
Thanks!
I don't know why but for some reason I'm reminded of the A-Team...
So I'm just going to park this here in the hope that someone in the GBF community knows what I'm talking about. There was this ad I used to see all the time on....I am pretty sure it was USA network. It featured a woman getting ready for work early in the morning while her man was still in bed. The color pallet was mostly in soft muted grays to reflect the early hours. She kisses him goodbye before she goes to work. The ad also had what sounded like a phone being dialed in a musical way. I seem to recall that the tag line was(at the conclusion of the ad) For The Woman Who Has Everything But Time. I know this will likely yield no cotton, but if any community can find this......
I would also hit up the Kenny Lauderdale community, but he mostly does obscure anime(might be outside of his wheelhouse).
"Guess I'll just have to test this talcum the old fashioned way!"
[7:44] The folks in this neighborhood must really like Blue Oyster Cult!
the big bald musclemoustache dude was the same dude that got chopped by a propeller in Raiders Of The Lost Arc fighting Indy
My parents love The A-team, but not this, I presume. I love this channel! Keep the good work on!
Thanks!
Bud the Chud!
4:27 Well, Jimmy Snuka he ain't...
Ah the good stuff!
Is that Gerrit Graham?
Beef! Beef! Beef!
Looking forward to purchasing this with your audio commentary.
Hope you enjoy it! Thanks!
Man I am getting Deja Vu. I swear you have done this before. I remember all the scenes and dialog you did....
Nope. Maybe Brandon did this one?
yet another cheese movie that I want watch thanks to you
Hope you enjoy it!
The background graffiti has to be the funniest I've ever seen
A fine start to the evening with two classic cases of "I understood that reference!" (at 01:40 and 05:00).
:)
On the one hand, great surprise nod to the one and only Freddie B.B. Washington (I still got a soft spot for the Sweathogs)
On the other hand, not one comment about the Blue Oyster Cult cameo at 7:44?
The BOC icon appears a few times when they are in the back alleys. I didn't mention it because we talked about it in the commentary & really, I didn't think this many people would have noticed! (got a lot of comments about it)
When I first saw Christopher Stone I thought, hey it's Tom Atkins! Then Paul Koslo, hey it's Kurt Russell! ...heh.
Hey Cecil, any plans for some new merch? I’d love a shirt with just your logo on it! Keep up the good work you’re my favorite channel!
That kid had just escaped a game of turkey foot with uncle paul and then saw a man killed. Poor little guy is screwed up for life
Oh Uncle Paul!
More like the AARP Team. *engagement*👍
You are correct - it was fun
OMG it is the husband from The Howling....
If the Fonzi joined they'd be the Aaaaaaaa Team.
I couldn't think of anything clever to say :p
Great episode. Greetings from germany.
Thanks! Salutations from the US! :)
2:04 If that murder happened in Atlanta, why is there a Dekalb County Sheriff's patrol cruiser in the movie scene? 🤣🤣
Swell!
GBG: Making my Mondays fun again!
:)
"Another suicide mission"...Not how suicide works 😅😅
Also, the guy in a wheelchair "tells everyone to stand up". Gold.
The fact Jacobs beat out Kelly an actual Martial Artist im not shocked he was surprised by that
He had some training but wasn't anywhere near the level of Kelly. I wonder if it turned out Kelly wanted more money or something. Still, Jacobs did a great job with what he was given.
Blue Oyster Cult symbol spray painted on the wall in the background at 7:44🤘
Oh I miss the old 80s art style they used back then because you usually couldn't tell how terrible it is actually going to be, I used to call them mirages lol
Oh pleeeeeeeeeze review Loose Cannons!!!
Great video
Thanks!
Looks like a young John Wick was on that bus.
A pencil?!
