He kinda didn't take the wrong lesson from the first movie. there is no universe were you could convince me that with Birdemic 2 they didn't realize the first was bad and leaned into it with the sequel.....If anything it seems like he forgot that people ironically watched the first 2 because they were hilariously bad and Birdemic 2 knew that.
He said in a recent interview that he's in on the joke now, but he admitted that he was really trying to make a serious movie with the 1st one. But now it's a joke & he knows it & he said he's fine with it because at least he can provide amusement for his audience. He said he's going to franchise it like Child's Play

I feel like the Birdemic franchise is about continuingly remaking the same movie over and over again, each time adding some ever so slight improvement, until by somewhere around Birdemic 453 they finally get it right and it's actually the decent final product of a watchable movie that they intend to make, and all previous editions where just part of the crafting process...
When I heard Nguyen was looking for financing for Birdemic 3, if I'd had the money I would've invested in it just to be on set to see how his mind works. At least this one had the usual staples of really long, awkward walking scenes and shots of cars driving and parking. His films are fascinating, like watching a train crash in slow motion.
Seeing movies and actors like these makes me believe that I would have been at least a not bad actor, and had a chance to make some money, I just can't see these people ever getting hired again.
They were not allowed to act any differently. They took the job because they were paid to and did exactly as the director asked them to. I doubt any of them will use clips from this movie for any auditions in the future because they know exactly how bad it was but the actors had literally no control over that.

I’d like to know what the actors actually think. Are they aware or unaware of the relative quality of what they did? Are they all in on the joke?

In Birdemic I wondered if it was intentionally bad, like Sharknado. Birdemic 2 with the zombies sort of confirmed this for me. Now I'm really confused with Birdemic 3 because these are either the most committed troll film makers of all time, or they truly are not self-aware of how bad this series is. You have to admire the consistency of their work, however terrible it is.
One of the brilliant pieces of storytelling that made Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds so effective was not landing on a clear explanation for the birds and why they attacked, were given different suggestions such as chicken feed, a viral infection, some other biological or environmental reason, or is Melanie herself the reason? It’s something incredibly simple, but keeping it vague allows the audience to draw their own conclusions, when Birdemic just gives us global warming as the direct cause, there’s no mystery or suspense, it just gives us the reason but without a solution to the conflict. I always find it interesting how the director of Birdemic seemingly missed every reason why The Birds was so good and why Hitchcock was a master of his craft as a director, and proceeded to replicate nothing that made The Birds what it was.
It feels like James Nguyen was annoyed that the somewhat self-aware tone of the second movie distracted from his environmental messaging, so he decided to completely overcompensate for the third one by inserting it into every part of the thing
It’s absolutely insane how the director of these films, James Nguyen, has learned literally nothing in the ways of filmmaking over the last decade and change. After watching the documentary about him on Vice, it’s pretty clear that all he’s ever really wanted to do was live the Hollywood lifestyle. Not learn and get better at his craft. But hey if making these films continues to bring him happiness, more power to him! ✊🏼

The Birdemic movies remind me of Atlas Shrugged: the plot grinds to a halt so that one of the characters can pontificate about the author's pet issues.

In Birdemic I wondered if it was intentionally bad, like Sharknado. Birdemic 2 with the zombies sort of confirmed this for me. Now I'm really confused with Birdemic 3 because these are either the most committed troll film makers of all time, or they truly are not self-aware of how bad this series is. You have to admire the consistency of their work, however terrible it is.

One of the brilliant pieces of storytelling that made Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds so effective was not landing on a clear explanation for the birds and why they attacked, were given different suggestions such as chicken feed, a viral infection, some other biological or environmental reason, or is Melanie herself the reason?
It’s something incredibly simple, but keeping it vague allows the audience to draw their own conclusions, when Birdemic just gives us global warming as the direct cause, there’s no mystery or suspense, it just gives us the reason but without a solution to the conflict.
I always find it interesting how the director of Birdemic seemingly missed every reason why The Birds was so good and why Hitchcock was a master of his craft as a director, and proceeded to replicate nothing that made The Birds what it was.
No character in any of James Nguyens' films has ever seemed like a real person.
It feels like James Nguyen was annoyed that the somewhat self-aware tone of the second movie distracted from his environmental messaging, so he decided to completely overcompensate for the third one by inserting it into every part of the thing
It's genuinely ironic that Nguyen loves Hitchcock but obviously has never listened to anything he said about filmmaking.
If i was a film teacher and i had to show how not to make a movie it would be birdemic.
My friend and I used to make movies when we were little. We stopped because we knew they sucked. Now I am questioning that decision.
It’s absolutely insane how the director of these films, James Nguyen, has learned literally nothing in the ways of filmmaking over the last decade and change. After watching the documentary about him on Vice, it’s pretty clear that all he’s ever really wanted to do was live the Hollywood lifestyle. Not learn and get better at his craft. But hey if making these films continues to bring him happiness, more power to him! ✊🏼
