The Birds star Tippi Hedren intentionally took part in a 90s tv movie sequel of The Birds, starring a former mens underwear model, because she knew it was going to be a horrible movie.
She still hasn't gotten over how badly Hitchcock treated her during the original and wanted to take a potshot at him. Not everybody's crazy over the guy, I guess.
And yeah, that sequel is all kinds of bad.

The reason the movie took 10 years after the last one is because the actors got stuck in their comically oversized test tubes and the director had to grow a new batch.

I think the difference between Neil Breen and James Nguyen is that Breen is genuinely unaware of how bad his movies are, while Nguyen is trying desperately to recapture the memetic lightning-in-a-bottle that the first _Birdemic_ film became.

In Birdemic I wondered if it was intentionally bad, like Sharknado. Birdemic 2 with the zombies sort of confirmed this for me. Now I'm really confused with Birdemic 3 because these are either the most committed troll film makers of all time, or they truly are not self-aware of how bad this series is. You have to admire the consistency of their work, however terrible it is.

One of the brilliant pieces of storytelling that made Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds so effective was not landing on a clear explanation for the birds and why they attacked, were given different suggestions such as chicken feed, a viral infection, some other biological or environmental reason, or is Melanie herself the reason?
It’s something incredibly simple, but keeping it vague allows the audience to draw their own conclusions, when Birdemic just gives us global warming as the direct cause, there’s no mystery or suspense, it just gives us the reason but without a solution to the conflict.
I always find it interesting how the director of Birdemic seemingly missed every reason why The Birds was so good and why Hitchcock was a master of his craft as a director, and proceeded to replicate nothing that made The Birds what it was.

It’s absolutely insane how the director of these films, James Nguyen, has learned literally nothing in the ways of filmmaking over the last decade and change. After watching the documentary about him on Vice, it’s pretty clear that all he’s ever really wanted to do was live the Hollywood lifestyle. Not learn and get better at his craft. But hey if making these films continues to bring him happiness, more power to him! ✊🏼
