- Troy Mansfield from Winoga Lodge takes Aaron out for late summer action on walleyes and jumbo musky on Lac Seul in Northwestern Ontario. Many nicely colored fish are boated and wonderful times are had by all. Topwater, bucktails, dropshotting, and rattle baits are all employed and techniques lightly covered.

Easiest explanation is, bright colors/white are seen because they reflect light, not much light enters dark water meaning the bright colors wash out. A dark brown or black bait absorbs more light than the stained water around it so it's silhouette stands out.

Yes, moreso should have said the gold/copper blades are very good producers in tannic/stained waters. Dark baits (black/brown) are good in any color of water tho - especially for muskys.
ive noticed something funny in a lot of muskie vids, not yours specifically, but any muskie vid out there. 37 incher: meh 40 incher: HOLY SH*T THAT'S A MONSTER! A 3 inch difference, and a huge change in the reaction. Odd, Eh? That's just my opinion tho

Thanks. Hate to say it but you 2 looked bored with the walleyes and seemed to come alive when you went for the ski's. Can't say as I blame you either. I'd be bored too with the walleyes when on great muskie water.
In tanic stained water the baitfish and game fish are darker from the stain, so you want to match that by using oranges, coppers, browns and blacks.

Jokin aside but when I fish the river. I seem to catch bigger walleye with a slower retrieval. And smaller on crank-baits when I’m burning it through rocks trying to hook up on small mouths

Lac Seul? But Winoga Lodge is on Abram Lake? And even though almost all the water from Western Ontario, through Manitoba, and into northern Saskatchewan is pretty much all the same lake through many devious connections, I cannot, for all the Google mapping in the world, find a way that Abram Lake connects to Lac Seul. Which is it?
I went there in June of 2019 man you can catch monster walleye and went smallmouth fishing in the vermillion

dark colors in dark water is the best
Big Mama will deliver monster fish. Ask any local here in Minnesota and they will tell you the same. Upper 50s and even a 60 have been boat lately.
Tom is the guy you need to ring up for a cusom bait order.
