It makes me sad how few people were in attendance for this. This is amazing game play that had to have taken thousands of hours to reach this level of play.
The red devils are the hardest enemies in this game. Took me forever just to beat the first one on level one. Matter of fact I thought that was the end of the level as a kid.
I wonder if the original intent of the game (both arcade and NES) was to fight two dragons in Stage 4 but the hardware couldn't handle it? Because every other stage it's one of the boss, then two; but always one dragon
We just watched it together today!! :D She was super happy to see it! (And gently cursing the location of all the hidden armors she never found, ahaha~!)
It did!! I picked up the game for her from a local place as a surprise while she was out of town, and now we're taking turns dying to those danged red demons XD It's been super fun and I'm really glad we're getting a chance to hang out over it!
I'm 35 and have had the game over 23 years and I've never bear it on the original Nes version. I have on an emulator version with save states etc. But my original copy I've had since I was 10 or 11 I still can't beat and doubt I ever will 😠😠😠
Come on kids, blowing on the damn cart just corrodes the contacts with small saliva particles. Put the cart in, turn on the console, wiggle the cart back and forth until you get a flashing title screen, then you press reset. Presto! Then get off my damn lawn! *hobbles away with a walker*
When I was a kid, if a cartridge wasn't working well, I'd wipe the contacts with something dry and hope that helps. Usually did. Though I did blow on them as well \_o_/
I mean if Error was managing to commentate by himself sometimes a couch isn't necessary, plus Aquas just went through Ninja Gaiden and Gimmick so I imagine he was just there for support
Runner Introduction starts at 5:17. Run starts at 5:44. Couch Commentary provided by Aquas.
I really appreciate that you guys do this yourselves now.

It was probably being done at 4am when most people there were sleeping.

Shoutouts to the brave NES that died in this video.
leod *hits F to pay respects*
What’s the probability that that NES was the one that hardlocked twice on MitchFlowerPower later in the week?
oh no, spoilers
Most people can't even make it past the first devil in stage one and this complete dude is damage boosting in stage 2 😂
Dat level 5... I can't believe you could despawn half the level, that's awesome! The audience should have clapped.
FinalManaTrigger What audience?

I've played this game before. Him showing confidence that I can make it to level 2 must be some big joke, right?

Thank you for bringing up memories
Excellent run!
Did the mom who loves this game but couldn't stay up to watch the run get to see this?
We just watched it together today!! :D She was super happy to see it! (And gently cursing the location of all the hidden armors she never found, ahaha~!)
Corah G Did it make her want to play it again?
It did!! I picked up the game for her from a local place as a surprise while she was out of town, and now we're taking turns dying to those danged red demons XD It's been super fun and I'm really glad we're getting a chance to hang out over it!
Corah G That's awesome.
Cool!
What is Error's accent?!? Or is it just his unique voice!??! I'm so fascinated!!!
R.I.P. to the NES, that sadly died at the start of this video.
I think they forgot the most important rule.

CONGRATURATION!
Those boosts is awesome end!
Thank you!
I gave up on trying to beat this game years ago... Now, at least I can watch someone destroying this game
sounds like wreck it ralph is playing :D
Shame nobody bothered to show up for this one. Error72 looked lowkey depressed the whole run.
"I'm going to power cycle the game"
TIL John C. Reilly runs Ghosts 'N Goblins. It's like I'm listening to Wreck it Ralph play video games.
I can't unhear him now, lol
And avgn said you needed the knife to progress thru the game
Feel the strongth welling.
I would not beat this game even in 23 days. He does in 23 min.
Ok.
I'm 35 and have had the game over 23 years and I've never bear it on the original Nes version.

He does it TWICE in 23 minutes.
I can’t even get out of the graveyard in level one, great run.

"This is the [insert boss name]. He's immune to the [insert weapon name]"
Really Capcom? just making some bosses fully immune? geez
A Boorito
This is impressive cause this game is hard af
This man is a god
I feel so bad he's running this absurdly difficult game and talking to an empty audience :(
Am I the only person who sees the main character do a ‘praise the sun’ gesture once a level is completed?
So that’s what the 2nd level looks like!
Why is Arthur naked? Why are they in front of the cemetery? Why does that devil want the princess? So many questions...
wish Capcom would do a Ghosts and Goblins remake in HD
Boom, wish granted
Even when the game was new, that cart was always finnicky
I can complete GNG Arcade on capcom classics and capcom generations 2 but the nes version....nope.

Nes games are *so* ruthless
I didn't know God did speedruns.
I had this for C64. Took me months to beat.
cant remember if i played this on amiga or c64 but it was game over after like 20 seconds for me..
Fun Fact: you don't need at all to beat this game twice since it's an infinite looping and there's nothing new to face upon.
Shoutouts to James Rolfe for his AVGN video on this and for inspiring me to play Ghosts n' Goblins on the 3DS eshop
I heard if you best this game, three of your distant family members become possessed and eventually kill themselves.
Loop 3…?
He should of had pj up there
matt ferreris At least then he'd be there to take the blame for the technical difficulties.
Andrew Brandt true
wheres dat play button
WTF it took me 13 hours to beat this game
good runner, but....
Not so much an audience as an audient.
Trans rights are human rights
I can beat Ghosts and Goblins Arcads......after 4 hours but NES version.......nope.
The announcers speech impediment was driving me fucking insane
filthy casuals
I wish they would run some fundraiser for environmental protection so I can donate for something I care about. :(
*Runner makes MLP reference in first 5 min*
Yea, this gonna be good, lol
Sixth
These people who donate to "save the animals" really show no respect for the speed runners.
Is the announcer talking weird, or is it just me? (I mean no offense, it's just I've never heard someone speak like that in real life)
Yea his speech impediment pisses me off
Great speedrunner. Horrible moderator
The dude playing this seems like a total doofer.
About as Doofy as that edge lmao.
He looks like he's been on dateline with Chris Hanson

He was talking?
He talked plenty. If he talked more, it would be awkward.
I thought the commentary was quite nice. Not every run needs constant talking.
I think he was just a friend of the runner
