The seal comes off the other end of the little linkage (opposite to plastic bush) Some play is also exaggerated within the 12mm shaft (hole end of the linkage) Mine has just 0.06mm of slack at the joint but this translates to alot of play at the gearstick (left and right movement when in gear)
Great vid, very informative & comical in places. I notice on my Renault Scenic mk1 2002 that the large spring that you can see in this whole gear linkage set up, clearly visible at 5:10, that has partly sheared off, so it no longer doing it's job. Any chance you possibly know the part description or even the spare part number, so I can source one here in the UK. Also, my scenic has never had one of those large plastic dust covers that cover the whole gear linkage set up. Love finding these style vids when I have to tackle stuff on my Renault. Would be whole lot of frustrated hair pulling out work without them lol. Many thanks in advance
First of all thanks for watching. Its a gear selector spring, I think this is a dealer only part. unfortunately I cant find the part number. But just call the dealer and they probably have them is stock. Sorry that I cant help you any better.
Hey, thanks for the reply. That is more than enough help, am sure I'll be able to track one down now. Keep making these great vids, def helping all us d.i.y mechanics save a few £££
Thank you very much! I'm having problem on Clio mk 1 (1997), it is dificult to put it in 1st an reverse. Can you do a repair of gear selector (replacement of the bushings)?
If the situation is there the of course i will make a video. But i don't think it will come anytime soon. But i can guarantee you that it isn't that difficult. This gear selector is the biggest pain of that whole assembly.
Hello! Nice video. Thank you. I am considering a 2002 Kangoo that has trouble getting to reverse gear. Could it be a linkage problem or do you know of transmission problems with this car? Thanks in advance for your help.
Is this a similar assembly on all Renaults??I have lost gears on my 2001 Renault Scenic RX4 The clutch still feels like it is operating but the gears cannot be selected I enjoyed your video by the way very informative and entertaining
you move the selector back and forth, how i should konw to orginal position for the selector let us say it was in neutral bevor repair, how to be sure after repair it will stay at neutral?? please help
Could this be the cause for losing just one gear? It's hard to shift into 5th gear in my laguna, but when I eventually get it in gear, it pops right out.
Not plastic thing, metalic peace - like a "pipe". I could mesure, but now i cant get to garage where i have car, i would like to have prepare for when i get material for repair.

Hello! Nice video. Thank you. I am considering a 2002 Kangoo that has trouble getting to reverse gear. Could it be a linkage problem or do you know of transmission problems with this car? Thanks in advance for your help.
I do think there is a problem with the linkage some ware. I don't know about reverse issues.

Yes, they use the same part numbers. Installation will be the same or almost the same.
You made an Aussie very happy because its looking like this is the problem and how to solve I will definitely be watching your videos from now on
Dont force yourself to watch this garbage :-) but still i appreciate it.
you move the selector back and forth, how i should konw to orginal position for the selector let us say it was in neutral bevor repair, how to be sure after repair it will stay at neutral?? please help
It does allign itself, don't worry to much about it.
@@TheDutchGarage ooh thank you very much
Queit clear thanx a lot
No problem.
Top video! Ik heb een Clio2 uit 2005 met erg veel speling van de versnellingspook. Lost deze vervanging mijn probleem ook op? Mvgr., Arthur
Could this bi the reason of grinding if it's loose, but not like this?
I dont think this is a reason for gear grinding. Gear grinding most of the time is wear or a bad clutch, master or slave clutch cylinders.
@@TheDutchGarage Alright, thanks
Hola el desgaste de esa pieza podría se la causa de que solo entre la quinta y las otras no
Could this be the cause for losing just one gear? It's hard to shift into 5th gear in my laguna, but when I eventually get it in gear, it pops right out.
I dont think so. It sounds more like an worn syncro.
how to ajust the gears after the job? my car lose the reverse
You can't do that, adleast not that I know of. If you can't find the reverse maybe some other bushings are also worn.
Someone help me, I need the plastic only of the box selector and the cap.... someone who has it in an STL file to print it
I loosed the bushing when dissasemble. What is the dimenson of bushing? Inside is 8mm outside is?
you mean the white thing? i don't know, maybe 13/14mm?
Not plastic thing, metalic peace - like a "pipe". I could mesure, but now i cant get to garage where i have car, i would like to have prepare for when i get material for repair.
Could you give me a time stamp were the part is visible? I don't know what you mean... Sorry.
You remove it from circle at cca 5:50, I think you holding it in hand.
fantastic
👍

Het zou heel best kunnen. Maar het kan ook zeker wat anders zijn. Je zou dan toch echt even onder de auto moeten kijken.
excelenttt
Thank you.
i have renault kangoo.is this the problem, that i cant get into 5 gear?
I don't think that is the case. if this thing is lose then you would have no gears at all.
so must be something with gearbox.thank you for your help.
