Hey andy can you review the crosman sr357 revolver?
This review, especially the accuracy test, was one of the incentives for me to get a PR-776. It arrived a few days back and today I finally got an opportunity to shoot it at my indoors 5 m "range". These are my thoughts after consuming the first CO2 capsule. Please bear in mind that I am spoiled by high quality, serious target air pistols and real powder-burning Smith & Wesson revolvers. My only experience before for CO2 pellet revolvers has been three (!) second-hand Crosman Colt Python replicas which were quite nice to shoot, but they all (!) broke up in short order.
Things I liked about the PR-776:
- The whole loading system with the swing-out cylinder and full moon metal clips. I had absolutely no trouble pushing the pellets in the clips. I shot the trusted RWS 7,0 grs "Blue" pistol pellets, the ordinary 4,50 mm diameter. I have a stash of the 4,49 variant too, did not bother to try them but obviously they would have been even easier to load.
- Accuracy. This revolver is precise enough for its intended purpose, which is to (vaguely) simulate shooting IHMSA silhouette standing position. My very second offhand 8 shot group @ 5m was 19 mm and right where I wanted it to be, the sights are dead on to my liking without any adjustment. OK, the gun shoots some 25 mm high from point of aim at five metres, but I prefer a sub-six hold anyway.
- Economical CO2 consumption. I got 80 good shots from a single capsule.
- Lots of fun for the money.
Things I did not like:
- Heavy trigger pull, even with single action. Makes releasing a clean shot quite difficult. OTOH the trigger does not feel gritty and if the shot process is interrupted (which I had to do often) the trigger resets fully, unlike with some other cheap airguns I've tried. This is an important safety factor.
- Unstable, flimsy feeling grip. It is indeed quite annoying.
- General quality of build. Every moving part feels sloppy. I know, this is a cheap, cast pot metal affair, one should not expect tight fittings. And as far as I understand the construction is such that sloppiness has not much effect on function or accuracy - for example, the spring-loaded barrel centers itself in the recesses of the cylinder without any precise timing. But still... yes, I am spoiled.
Overall, I'm happy I bought this air gun. It fills the desired need, not perfectly, but adequately enough.
Never owned any sort of pistol in my 56 years, but bought one of these off the back of your review. And what can I say, wow, what absolute fun. A real blast shooting this , this afternoon. The Mrs can`t wait for a warm day to have a go herself.
Very similar to a Crossman 357 revolver I have owned for a while and great fun for speed plinking. Firing a revolver like this from the hip as seen in cowboy films requires tons of practice and a huge safe backdrop. Great fun
Ahhhh just got this watched before work. Feel all warm and fuzzy now. Cheers Andy.
Love, Love, Love the revolver and pistol reviews! Thanks again Professor Andy!
Thanks Andy, see you next week 👍🏻
thanks andy,...your show is a welcome break for what is going on in the news around me...george in Texas
Thanks Andy have a great weekend
Thanks, Andy. I do enjoy your reviews.
I have this gun, Gamo PR 776, and I am very pleased with it. I eco all that Andy says about it.
Nice review Andy. I use the shorter barrelled version (PR-725) in airgun practical shooting matches, principally because of the reload capability and 8 shot capacity. The rifled barrel helps too.
Exelent video for my morning coffee and its a beautiful day outside.
Perfect start to my air gunning day .
Thank you!
I have one and always love shooting it
I still have my Umarex 686 (s&w .357 mag) from 2001. 10 shot drop in wheel. Not been used that often but after discovering this channel its reignited my passion and I'll be blowing the dust off it ! The only design flaw I found with this revolver is the co2 cartridge adjuster brass thumb screw seizes up. A few drops of 2in1 oil free's it for a short while but then its back to thumb blisters !
Nice review Andy, good accuracy at 10mtr, most manufacturers accuracy figures for these guns is quoted for 5-8 mtrs.
Thanks for another great review of a very nice little piece of kit. For once, I bought this before you reviewed it and so, I can honestly say that your review is absolutely spot on and contains no BS whatsoever. This is my 'goto' handgun for a bit of accurate 'fun'. P.S. I am not an employee of Gamo, AAR, VA or Diapers (oops that damned predictive text again). Well done.
I've had this one for a while now and I quite like it. I also have a couple of Dan Wessons. While the Dan Wessons are better finished and more realistic, the gamo is more practical for shooting (reducing reload times) and it is lots of fun. I find myself using it more than the wessons.
Another belter from Gamo. Looks good, nice weight and enough power for serious plinking and target work up to 10m. 8 shot magazines and a generous shot count are all the signs of a winner. Loading the shells is nice at first but I prefer to spend my time shooting.

Great idea. What about a "desert island" choice of best rifle and best hand gun in his collection?

@@chopperhehehe Tricky! I will stick to air rifles to answer. For reliable pest control I would have to go for my old BSA R10 with my new HUMA regulator.
Awesome! Good morning!
returned to air guns recently. 25 yr. amazed by the advancements! gamo pr 776 on my list. would suggest crosman enforcer a cheap and good quality pellet gun to try if new to c02 pistols . ( rifled barrel. but the rest plastic) accurate
Next on my list . Thanks Andy 👍🏻
Never been a big revolver fan myself. Especially of these modern revolvers. My only revolver being the pellet/BB Remington 1875 (by Crosman) since being a western styled item..
But. If I ever bought a modern styled revolver - this one would definitely be my choice. Seriously were looking at one online some ago..
I like the looks, size, coloring, adjustable sights, 6" rifled barrel... and I especially like the pellet rotary clip magazine system it has. No cartridge loading anymore. Got quickly bored of loading my Remington 1875 cartridges all the time - even it came even with 6+6 cartridges in the package. Enough of cartridge loading for me.. And I think this Gamo comes with even two rotary magazine instead of just one. Sweet!!
The grip might surely be a bit loosely fitted. Quite usual issue I think. But I also think a thin layer of nailpolish or something between the inner surfaces might sturdy it up a bit with friction.
I've got one, it's surprisingly accurate for what it is.
How powerful is it?
Good job on that one Andy...
Thank you very much for you review, after having a PR-45 for like 14 years I was looking to get a more modern replacement for it, and after seeing what newer models gamo had avairable I found this review, and its spot on, Mine just arrived today, I got 80 good shots from the Co2 bottle, its super accurate at 10m, it´s a little stonger than the PR-45 and Its almost as quiet, its just PERFECT for 10m paper target shooting. Also tried a reseting metal target at 5m and it also did just fine. I´m impressed how real the weight and feel is. And the 8 round magazine system is just so good, quick and easy to use. Just hope its as durable as the old PR-45. Considering the price, it was a amazing purchase. Again thank you from Brazil for helping my decision with your review.
Very nice looking seems well made
Had one for a while now and its very good and pretty cheap, and so far pretty rugged also also accepts the weaver/picatinny rails from the Umerex series of revolvers like the s40/60 that slide on down the dovetail on the top, which I really like as you can leave the rail on and fire with open sights or put the red dot on and use that. Also uses the same magazine as the Winchester 4.5 which is also pretty accurate. both by the way like the RWS Geco Pellets which are cheap as chips, and they are a little more accurate if you seat them into the magazine I usually use a golf tee as a dibber
could tyou send a link/picture of the rail you use on this revolver?
Looks great. The first pistol to really tempt me. Prefer the magazine setup to shells, but would have liked/expected a bit more power.
Nice review, Andy. 👍
Nice job, I have a crosman cr357 I modified and get 875-1058 fps on PBa ammo.
I do like a revolver and own an Umarex 586 6". They are out of production now, and this Gamo PR-776 looks to fill that void quite nicely. I am waiting for the new Umarex M29 and 629 to hit the shelves though, as I do fancy adding a shell ejecting revolver to the quiver. It's just a shame the latter aren't rifled, that sets the PR-776 apart.
My Mrs would forego the shoes for this! great vid Andy👍
Great Video
Beautiful looking pistol. Great review. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ihave one and have found it to be an accurate , hard hitting revolver. A good buy
8 shot is a thumbs up. and pellet.. do for me.. 👌
Hi Andy
Quality production as always, great review, you nearly made me want to purchase one.
Take care stay safe, regards to the AAR household and keep it lit.👍 my friend.
You're bad ass man awesome video ...from Phoenix az peace
Nice one Andy
great review, also side note: I really like the window backdrop. It adds something that makes the videos feel more personal. Its a great touch that really works
Apart from the horrible crease I would agree
I've always thought that too.
@@FOOKUA-camNUMBERS Hahahaha,... I never actually noticed those creases, now you have me studying that, and I missed most of what Andy was saying,..
.I had to start the video again.
@@regsparkes6507 Sorry about that Reg it always bugs Me heeeee
I'd watched 3-4 vids before I noticed. I'd thought that was his dining room window. ROFL! :)
Well done Andy! First of all, I'm a revolver guy, therefore my opinion might me biased. However, I do like this Gamo model very much! It's a great piece for plinking, but sadly underrated. Quite frankly, the only thing I dislike of this revolver is the flimsy grip. But, alas, it's the same crappy design on many other airgun revolvers in the market.😩 In short, it has been an excellent choice for my collection. BTW Andy, love your 'window' background.👍😆
Awesome air revolver!
As aways great reviews. I have one PR-776. It's a good gun
I’ve never had a problem using speed loaders myself and the shells do add to the realism. I do however have an Umarex Smith and Wesson 586 which has a 10 shot magazine system and is probably the best CO2 available for build quality. It is a lot more expensive though.
Spot on mate. He never even locked them into the speed loader, no wonder they fell out.
Mine works perfectly well with my Umarex Legend S60.
I have no problem either with my Dan Wesson 715 pellet speed loader, works well.
@@dashooting6595
I don't know why he tried to load it that way? He knows only to well that you have to lock the rounds in the loader 1st or it just won't work!
good accuracy for a pellet revolver
Always Pro reviews Andy! Thanks! I'll be looking into this pistol but still shooting my Vigilante $50 buck pistol.
Nice shooting partner. Nice n accurate n good grouping. All the best from lancashire.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all from Steve, Beeston, Leeds
Looks just the job for plinking in my back yard.
Nice gun 👍
The excellent Dan Wesson is a larger frame, close to S&W N frame, revolver. Gamo is medium frame...more like a K frame.
Love the vids! Subscribed
Great job Andy!
Damn good accuracy for a CO2, open sighted pistol.
I'm not normally a fan of CO2, but this might just be a game-changer!
You should consider the Crosman 2240. They are SO fun and customizable. They are .22, and stock, mine makes about 440 fps with 14.3 grain pellets for over 6 fpe. They really make a satisfying sound whacking empty food cans. :)
Ive been sat an hour waiting for this but i wont moan 🤣🤣great vid andy thankyou 😊
Once again another great video, nice one Andy, but it looks like it’s time to persuade the boss that I NEED another gun 🤣 Looks like I might have to do the hoovering and washing for the foreseeable future.
Like the pistol and great review, have to disagree about the speed loader's though for the shells, they work perfectly when you lock the shells in properly!🤣🤣
I have quite a few pistols. Mainly replica that I get for the realism. Another great review. Not for me though I'll stick with the SAA and Webley.
I have had this gun for a year and it is good. The only trouble is the rails are a strange size and I cannot fit a laser
I bought a R77 in the late 90s when co2 became legal. It was rubbish, very inaccurate. Hope this is better, it certainly looks good
Seems decent revolver if compared plastic ones and low powered ones...
Excellent review, very accurate gun.
Have you seen the HDP and HDR 50 Cal? They look really interesting.
This Gamo PR-776 is a rifled pellet revolver very similar to the Umarex S&W TRR8 bb revolver. Both are look-alikes of the powder burning S&W R8/TRR8 tactical revolver. The smootbore bb TRR8 is quite accurate due to excellent sights. It also uses the cartridge system with fully rotating cylinder and comes with a speedloader. If steel bb ricochet and rebounding is a concern, rear loading pellet cartridges can sucessfully be used. Because it is a smoothbore, the 10m pellet accuracy is not quite as good as the Gamo PR-776 and the S&W only holds 6 shots. But if you like loading brass cartridges in a realistic modern revolver, the TRR8 is a smoothbore bb alternative that is quite comparable to the Gamo PR-776.
Great video I really enjoyed I think I will buy one now 👍🤔
Ya know what I quite like that pistol not normally a fan of co2 stuff but I think I'll try that thanks the mrs will love you lol 👍👍👍
Good review. Reminds me a little of the Umarex Smith and Weston 586 but this gun is more like a real revolver. Speedloaders? I have them for both air pistols and FAC Section 1 and I would call them "slow loaders"!
HI ANDY , great review and good info . i would buy this pistol . Take care
The magazine takes away the realism, and fun of loading cartridges, i wil stick with my Colt SAA, Webley service revolver and the like.
Another good one Andy did I hear the teeth not wanting to play ball again
Reminds me of Dirty Harry Movies.. have to get one for my brother.
Whats the name of that snubnose revolver it looks so cool
for you does this do it better than the webley mk 6 as strongly considering that
When are you doing the night vision that you teased us with great show today 👍
Hi Andy, the chambers in the cylinder look big.. what happens to the pellet after leaving the magazine but before jumping into the barrel please (if that makes any sense to you)?
cheaper than buying a second set of six brass shells too
Nice review as always a nice very informative video, I was wondering if you could make a review of the crosman CFAR1X rifle I think is the new version of the DPMS PANTHER. thanks again for your videos keep up the good work
Excellent site the only part that is not so good is as well as firing at the old bulls eye he should test it for power i.e. a tin can
Great review Andy👏
Great name by the way.
My other half just agreed to me getting the this air pistol
With some sweet talk involved 😀
Looking forward to this one.
👍
Great review as always. I daresay it will be a while until the next revolver review, but any chance of reviewing the Chiappa Rhino 50 (BB)? I bought one recently and have been very impressed with it, but it won't be for everybody and would be interested in your opinion!
Hi-ho there!✨🤗✨
I have SEVERAL revolvers, each with their OWN SPEED-LOADER. Andy, as long as I make sure to use the PROPER speed-loader for the pistol, there are no, and never have been, issues using the things. There are FOUR 'loaders' that, on paper, should be interchangeable, but my experience is STAY WITH WHAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDES. Seriously, I have ALWAYS been able to SEAT all the shells into their chambers, then press/click the release mechanism - PLOP!; all shells got home!!! hee hee
Keep up the GREAT work, sir, and should I EVER get rich enough to afford doing so, I will purchase one of your WARM flannels jackets. Well, that is IF you ever sell them again; can't find any at your store!!!
Any chance of a HATSAN Factor review Andy?
Any idea why they don't do.22 versions? Always preferred .22 when shooting as a kid
As usual a great review, I'd quite like to see you review the Gamo PR-725, but I'm guessing it'll be similar only a shorter version, but after a bit of Googleing it seems the 725 isn't readily available in the UK.
Really enjoying your vids. I'm thinking of getting back into the sport after being on and off over the past 25 odd years, mostly due to where I was living but I'm thinking now of trying to get somewhere to shoot. I've got my eye on the gamo bargain set up as it is ambidextrous (lefty alert) Can anyone give me some info on where and how to approach (I'm guessing farms could be a good starting point) there just doesn't seem to be any ranges close to me :(
You are supposed to hold the bullets upright and the barrel straight up when using the quick reload system, then tilt the barrel downward. Never falls out for me
Dan Wesson 715 still untouchable.
whats the fps.
Are you talking the bb or pellet version?
@@fcsthememe7987 pellet ver.
@@fcsthememe7987 I just Converted a Vigilante to a 8 in barrel and will add a 20 gr. weight on the Hammer for more hang time on Co2 valve.

Hey Andy have you ever done a video on a Crosman pfam98, I have looked and I can't find one. Please advise if you have, thank you
Great review, collecting mine tomorrow....now I need a holster or under arm rig🤔 any ideas? Thanks for another cracking review
Proportions seem a bit off to me. the frame is a bit elongated behind the cylinder , compared to a real revolver , but it is nice.
Great review does anyone else have one of these if so what it like for rats and squirrels are they strong enough any help would be ideal cheers
Nope. You need to think full power rifle unless you're using a more powerful (5ft lbs) pistol for dispatching in a trap.
So are Vector Air delivering to home addresses now?
You sir, are a treasure. I wish that you were my father...please adopt me.
is it posible to put a red dot sight ?
Hi Andy,
Great video as usual, but I think you made a bit of a meal making the speed loader look rubbish. I've never once had a problem with any of mine, and find it always works a treat.
Still, great video though.
Must admit anyone who's used one would find that comical, the shells obviously weren't even locked in :D
@@noggintube
Spot on mate. 🙂👍
Hi Andy this gun on vector site, info say's fixed sites. ??. I would buy after this presentation though. Cheers.
I'd like to know more about how to remove that awful white lettering. Maybe do a video on that?
Could you please do a Vigilante review, I would love to know your opinion Andy. Love your videos xD
As always an interesting, good review, thanks. I own one of these revolvers and wondered if you'd come across the same problem I have with loading the pellets, they just don't seem to fit well in the magazine. It's as if they are too large for the hole. I'd be interested to know your take on this? Many thanks for all the hard work you put into making these reviews for us all 👍
???
Frick no one has answered, i just bought one and i have the same problem. I tested a couple of different 4,5mm (.177) pellet types and none of them go in easily, i tried pushing one through the rotary magazine with a screwdriver but i still couldn't get it through, and when i took i back from the same side that i put it in i saw that the pellet was all scratched up and a bit squished. Your comment is now almost an year old so have you already figured something out that will help, if you had i would like to hear it. Thank you.
@@santerisuuri5139 yes exactly, a year with no response whatsoever from Andy, not impressed. To answer you, no still the same, absolute rubbish, not impressed at all. I was beginning to think that no one had seen my original comment re this gun. Personally I think this gun is best avoided....
You have your single and double action backwards. Great review!
