Sorry to hear about the anxiety troubles Cody :( I deal with anxiety daily and what has helped me recently is realizing that the opposite of anxiety is not “relaxed” but instead “present” hope that helps some!! CHOO CHOO
If you’re in a constant state of stress there’s a very good chance there’s environmental factors ie food, sleep, lack of sunlight etc. these little mantras are valuable but they do not get to the root of the problem and unfortunately many people including doctors use medicine as the first line of treatment which is fucking insane
Intresting that since swearing off cheese pockets Cody has been struggling with anxiety. As a board certified psychologist I would say that this is the cause.
The whole reason I started watching this video is because I’m having a bad anxiety day so to open the comments and see such a kind and empathetic community already made me feel better. If I could share any wisdom that has helped me it’s that anxiety is not something for you to solve. It’s a misguided loving response from your body trying to keep you safe. Just by recognizing this you are opening yourself up to being present and creating safety in the body. Sending love to you all!
thank you man for sharing a little bit of how your anxiety’s been affecting you. i’ve been going through the same and being active is one of the only things that helps. your videos help out so many people! ❤️🚂
it helps so much that you’re talking about anxiety because it honestly feels really lonely and isolating as someone that also deals with anxiousness & stress.
I can totally relate to the feeling of being worked up all the time and using exercise to clear my head and work through some anxiety. Thank you for being open because so many of us feel the same. Keep pushing Cody!! choo choo!
Very inspiring for you to touch on your anxiety troubles. I feel the same, having ups and downs month to month. But exercise always keep me feeling a little better. The biggest thing I've learned is to just feel what you're going through and not be scared. The worst thing is to be ANXIOUS about ANXIETY. Just let it run its little course and accept that even as bad as it makes you feel in the moment, you'll come out on top. Idk, it helps me
Cody inspired me to sign up for the local Sprint Triathlon, I've been training 1 month now and having a goal makes exercise feel so much more meaningful. Just want to say thanks Cody!
thanks for giving me the motivation to finally work out cody :) i just did my first bike ride the other day! 5 miles in 30 minutes but i did it! i’m very plus size so a lot of exercise is uncomfortable for me but you really created such a welcoming community for us
In dialectical behavior therapy there is a skill called TIPP (they love acronyms) and it’s all about how changing your temperature (using an ice pack, going in the cold plunge) and exercising can help you when your distressed so you’re ahead of the game when it comes to using coping skills! That’s awesome that you’re able to find things that can help you. Anxiety is a bitch, we love you Cody, do what you need to do, we’ll always be here
This is my favorite channel right now. Thanks for bringing the PUMP on Monday. I'm just getting over an ankle injury and dying to get back to running in the next couple days to keep prepping for my half marathon this fall. Thanks for the motivation every. single. week. Enjoy the trails, man!
finished my first ever race this weekend! 10 miles and i walked the whole thing under 3 hours. thank u for being a constant inspiration and i hope u feel better 🌟
Recently started regularly exercising the past 2 and half weeks and it helps my anxiety so much. Getting my body moving has always helped me in the past and your videos are so inspiring to me and remind me to take care of myself. Thank you for sharing 🥲❤️
Intervals always scare me bc I only do them once a week and that’s just enough time for me to convince myself I’ve actually lost all my speed and can’t run fast. Then I do it, feel great for once day, and then spiral and think I’ve lost all my speed again lol.
Cody I really appreciate you talking about your anxiety with us!! I'm a licensed therapist with anxiety and depression and it's so impactful to talk about it openly! I too find that exercise helps a lot, as well as journaling and mindfulness when outside :)
I have epilepsy, mutiple seizures a week. I watch your videos to pass time, and to play in the background as I start my day. I understand dealing with anxiety. I am proud of you, cody & thank you for ALL the hardwork you and Kels put in to make and create content!
I can relate to the anxiety and feeling like your mind just cannot relax. There's all kinds of things that will help you release it in the moment like exercise, but you got to figure out what's really plaguing your mind so it doesn't stay there and marinate. Remember exercise can also affect cortisol, so you have to effectively manage the cortisol. Especially if you're working toward a big goal like a race. It can reduce anxiety and lower cortisol at night, but heavy endurance training can absolutely raise cortisol levels and affect anxiety.
Cody you should do the NY marathon!! My mom did it a few years back & said it was her all time fav- ppl all over the city come out and show support. She said it was the most fun and most inspiring marathon she ever ran.
I just finished CBT for anxiety and weirdly daily 10 minute yoga and breathing exercises (for even like 2 minutes) helped tremendously. I am completely out of my "spiral" that was leading to depression. Goodluck!
Recently my anxiety and panic attacks have been bad too. Your videos help SO much, this channel always makes me laugh and get motivated. ❤ love you Cody :,)
cody you probably won't read this, but i've been following you on social media since your Vine St apartment days, watching your content through literally every step of the way. your move to australia inspired me to solo travel for two months, your frictionless journey navigating your corporate career even though your heart was in content creation inspired me to keep pursuing my degree even though I have doubts about my future. I've been watching TMG podcast every weeks since the FIRST episode, i was just a junior in high school & now i'm about to graduate college. I'm from vegas, and I went to your first TMG tour at the Palms in 2019 and Every time you're in vegas i can't help but try to run into you and meet you. i'm not even a clubber but i couldn't miss when you DJ'd at XS. All this to say; i genuinely am a huge fan, and i grew up watching you, and seeing you work hard at everything you do, creating new goals just to reach them has been BEYOND fkn inspiring. Your videos have helped me in so many ways, from laughter to reliability, and this newest channel has inspired me to get back into weight lifting, to tackle my anxiety and push through to become a better version of myself. Im even signing up for a 5k in december. Never stop doing what you do Cody, you truly are loved by so many people, and genuinely an inspiration, and of course comedic relief, for all of your fans.
Just found your channel- currently training for the Moose Mountain ultra and the Castle Alpine ultra later in a few months! Can't wait to follow along with your journey :)
Did just under 18 miles worth of hiking up Austrian hills the other day, yelling out energy is everything and we ascend together every few 100 yards and at the highest peak there was a diary to write your name and whatever, but for some reason I didn’t write we ascend together and this has kept me up regretting it and feeling stupid. Clocked 472 floors ascended on the day according to my phone so atleast there was some solid work put in 🚂
10:37 Thank you so much for being honest about your anxiety issues! Cardio helps so much 🥰 I have a ton of physical and mental issues that I battle with and one day my asymmetry/chronic pain frustrations from having severe scoliosis (post-surgery for like a decade now but I’ll have problems for the rest of my life) really hit me one day when I was trying to do back strengthening exercises and I got so angry I went over to the treadmill and sprinted the fastest I ever have while listening to Eminem “Lose Yourself” 😂😂 It was extremely therapeutic and I loved it.
I really appreciate you talking about your experience with anxiety. It is comforting to hear another man discussing the topic. Let me know if you come through the Des Moines area! 🤘🏼
I need a house tour because it looks like they live in two completely different places. The two different kitchens throw me off. And they are both such different styles. Anyway love you guys
dude I am so excited that you are doing the John Muir trail. I did a painting of John Muir because he was such a bad ass. If I could go back in history at any point it would be to see John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt at Yellowstone.
i am far from the first person to say this but i also appreciate you talking about anxiety, it's strangely comforting to be able to relate and remember you're just a regular person lol
Cody you should do a run meet up. I’ve seen other fitness influencers do it where you meet up and do a run with them. That would be so fun and I’d definitely fly out to do that!
Probably not gonna read this, but with like 2 videos you have single handedly inspired me to start training for a marathon, im 19 and never ran more than 4 miles but im gonna start training in the next few days
Sorry to bear about your anxiety troubles Cody, I’ve also been struggling but maybe this will cheer you on a bit because I just had a panick attach (which was not fun) and the only thing that calmed me down were your videos. Very thankful for you🫶🏼
aw man that's awesome you're hiking the john muir. that's going to be so cool to watch. that's one of my dreams. that and the pct. just can't get life to make it fit yet. hope you have an amazing, safe time in the sierras
for me, skateboarding in particular is the greatest anxiety/anger outlet of all time. i run/basketball/tennis here and there but nothing hits like skating
advice for the cold plunge- I know you do it for us and we love that you talk to us during this- It looks like you're breathing with your chest instead of your diaphragm. I noticed that when I imagine myself literally breathing into my butt, pulling the air in deep really helps with your nervous system's adjustment to the cold and aids in the perception of the temperature where it is easier for you to convince yourself it's not cold. May also help your anxiety by breathing into that deep-down area very slowly and like another commenter said- the opposite of anxiety is present and that really helps you be present. You're an inspiration to all of us.
I would suggest to work out with weights a few times a week to calm your anxiety. It works waaaaay better then just running since it doesnt make your body go into fight or flight mode in the same way as cardio does. Or maybe its just me. Anyway just a tip since you seem a bit more stressed/anxious then normal
My anxiety gets so much worse when I don't eat enough carbs and studies show that carbs are essential for mental health. Not saying that's whats happening but I thought I'd mention it since it seems like a sudden change (especially since Cody's says he is losing weight and seems v diet conscious!). Be sure to fuel up everyone especially if you're an athlete!
Cody has the energy of a frat boy and a dad all rolled into one
lol
That’s how i imagine canadians.
frad
YESS
I have been trying to put his vibe into words for so long and you literally nailed it. Thank you for your service. 🫡
Sorry to hear about the anxiety troubles Cody :( I deal with anxiety daily and what has helped me recently is realizing that the opposite of anxiety is not “relaxed” but instead “present” hope that helps some!! CHOO CHOO
this is such great advice ❤ gonna start reminding myself of that.
CHOO CHOO! Great advice
Wait this just helped me too thank you

"it's not everyday that I finish before Cody" - Kelsey Kreppel, 2023
I can totally relate to the feeling of being worked up all the time and using exercise to clear my head and work through some anxiety. Thank you for being open because so many of us feel the same. Keep pushing Cody!! choo choo!
Here before radical title and thumbnail change.
“it’s a family house” knowing Kelsey was already pregnant by then 🥺❤️
these videos make me want to exercise myself to death and just be like cody even though the furthest ive ever run is 4 miles lol
That's only the furthest you've ran so far. Lace up and crush those miles!
me too 😂 felt like goggins by the end tho 😂
That’s still a lot!! I’m only at a mile and a half right now
I’m stuck at 2 miles rn, 4 miles is the goal for me lol
@@josephforrester1892 You'll be there in no time!

lfggg shaq squad I love shaquille

dude the anxiety shit is real. take your time. do whatever is best for you!
Honestly you could host your own half marathon event and I bet it would pop off
this would actually be amazing esp if there was an online component for those not in the country

Same... I gotta get back to exercising but anxiety and depression always cause this downwards spiral

This video is gold its the forst cody trains video i watched and its hilarious and motivating.
I watched this while running on a treadmill and everytime Cody inspired me I upped my speed. Good job Cody
Cody you should look into weighted running vests. A friend who just did SF recommends it highly, especially helpful for marathon training CHOO CHOO
the butter boy bit was pretty funny tbh
Oh no! Big muscle Conductor daddy can’t leave us! Us NPCs aren’t even programmed to cope.
Little butter boy
13:35 not be a snoop but are you expecting? 👀 If so that's amazing! Congrats!
Oof yeah, it says hiriskob. I feel bad cause they're obviously trying to keep the news under wraps and I can't blame them.
Still so happy for them
You’re super inspiring Cody shiiiiit fr! Thank u for sharing!

YES, NYC is the best- do it!! i will say it's not a great course for a time goal, but it's so much fun and an amazing opportunity.
“I just spat on my towel. F*ck!” Was amazing. And anxiety sucks sry love u sir ❤
