You're telling me Cody hiked for 5 days in one of the most beautiful places in the world and didn't do a single "what a view, wish I could show you guys" bit???? This is true character growth.
Cody out here collecting titles: IRONMAN, ultra marathoner, hiker, UA-camr, DJ, podcaster, studio owner, husband, father, and of course most impressively, hobby horse professional. Seriously, I love that you share all of your adventures with us in such an engaging and genuine way.

I’ve always really admired Cody for his character, kindness, and empathy and so it’s cool to see the people who raised him and see what they’re like. Glad to hear Paul is ok, wishing him the best in his recovery. Rotator cuff tears are no fun.
Hi Cody. I am a dispatcher and have been on the other end of those Garmin InReach SOS. I have communicated to people who’ve gone through horrible, horrible things. Thank you for immediately stopping and calling for help. We don’t always get to see the fruit of our efforts, so I’m glad Paul is okay and got the help he needed quickly. Thank you for sharing this and being there for Paul!!

Cody, I just want to say thank you! I started watching Cody Trains in January and decided to start walking on the treadmill while watching your vids. 8 months later and I’m 70lbs down and running my first 5k next month! This channel has been a life changer! 🎉
@@osheilaaadefinitely do it! I started just walking a mile or two slowly and now I do 3 miles a day! I truly believe that anyone can do it. I was 295lbs with two small kids and working from home. It was so hard at first but once you get into routine and really make it something you do for yourself, everything else falls into place! Good luck on your journey friend 💕
Injuries can be brutal. Hoping for a quick recovery for Paul. I dislocated my shoulder 16 months ago rock climbing and have been dealing with a frozen shoulder ever since. Definitely a change of lifestyle for someone who loves being active and outside. Running has been one of those things I’ve been able to do throughout this injury and it has helped me so much. Glad Paul’s okay and he’ll be back out there in no time.
Finding ways to move the fascia around the injury site is most important. Grab and lightly twist the skin. Gua sha with a crystal blade is easiest to do at home by yourself and you can seek out a massage therapist that can asses you and see if you could handle cupping or acupuncture. Hope you heal up 🙏🏽
Dear Cody, this is going to sound weird but these videos have genuinely been helping me get through the worst depressive episode of my life this year, following a diagnosis of PTSD. You consistently showing your love for moving your body and getting to amazing places where you can see the world in all its incredulity have helped me reconnect with what is important and given me a reason to keep going and to get through to the other side. Honestly, especially with this channel, these videos feel like a warm hug, and often in my darkest days I will rewatch ones that particularly resonate with me (ones surrounded by nature usually!). Also - what you said at the end where you’re always closer than you think, that was very helpful in not only a literal but a metaphorical sense also. "If it's not scary then you're not thinking big enough" !!! I got back to the gym today after months of not going, so your end messages really resonated with me! I always "look at the mountain" and it's so easy to feel discouraged or like there's going to be a very difficult journey ahead. Today I took the first step (again lol) and it felt good. Choo choo!!!
Jeez! That last part about Paul falling is crazy! My uncle hiked the PCT and got to a look out point and looked down and found a dead body. Make sure you hike with a buddy!
I love how this technically a "running" channel and yet Cody can share life lessons from running. Goes to show how much you can learn while doing physical activity.
Awesome message Cody. Hoping you relaxed after the climb! I imagine the numbers on this vid will be different for you, but really happy you put it out! Best wishes to you and Kelsey. Ascend together!
So glad Paul is okay! Moments like that happen so quickly, glad it wasn't as tragic as it could have been. Like Cody said, nature does not care about us, and it does what it wants. On another note, great job thinking on your feet during disaster. Wishing Paul a quick and easy recovery!
Love the message that you distilled from this journey. The way you reacted to seeing each peak you had to cross reminds me of how I see almost every challenge/goal in life. They can seem impossible at first, but as soon as I start to chip away at them, my perspective immediately changes, and I can see just how I'll get it done. Or in your words, a ten minute walk can make the peaks seem miles closer. What a truly scary way for this story to end to. Super happy that all four of you made it out of there in one piece.
i have been hiking and backpacking around the pnw with my grandma and cousins my whole life (first week-long trek was when i was 9) and watching this video gave me so much second-hand bliss. :)) i love being out on the trails and rock scrambling and such, and though it is always tough when you have to majorly shift your plans due to conditions, and especially when you have to deal with an accident/injury and all the stressful unknowns that brings, it looks like you guys still had a blast overall and the lessons at the end made me grin. true in life and on the trail: be careful, look up and check to see where you're headed but keep an eye on your feet, weigh the risks but don't just fearfully avoid all of them, if you need a breath stand still for a moment of rest, take care of each other, embrace the adventure, and ultimately just keep taking steps. :)
i'm 3 months post op from an ACL reconstruction, certainly not a linear rehab but watching this content as an avid outdoorsman who cannot do any of that stuff for at least another 7 months helps me visualize getting back to it. wishing you injury free adventures and a speedy recovery for paul, stay safe out there!
I’ve been watching this channel from the start and it’s by far my favourite thing you do. It’s so helpful to have these weekly reminders to go out and live life, and do things that scare me. A few weeks ago, I went on a solo bikepacking trip inspired in no small part by this channel. I was terrified to do it, but I prepared well and did my best. Such a cool life experience, and now I want to think even bigger. Thank you!
Man cody every day you inspire me more and more. I can't wait to get back out there and start running again. You and your family are incredible, we love you guys!! So glad to hear that Paul was okay.
Backpacking through a beautiful place is one of the best feelings in the world. I just climbed mount Lafayette in New Hampshire this weekend so this video felt so relatable. Thanks Cody for inspiring us to get active and explore nature
Usually Cody doesn’t let us see the views (even though he wishes we could see them), so it was a nice change of pace that he shared the views this time

I've been recovering from spinal surgery for seven months now, and I'll be hitting the trail for the first time (edit: first time since injury) in late September. Just a day hike but I'm so nervous, excited, and scared. This is so inspiring, I miss it out there a lot and every time you share a view I "wow" out loud and get more excited. I'm doing a section of the PCT
One vid away from 50 on this channel! How far you've come is incredible. You truly did all this by yourself, supported by the people you love, just for the sake of living your life to your own fullest potential. You inspire many people out there with all of the hard work you put out into the world, and on the side of all that sharing all these incredible experiences with us. Video has gotten me fully motivated to start working out, got me watching your backlog here and already planning out my walks/runs to start bettering myself. Thank You Cody, Choo Choo
About a month ago, I hiked Mount Kilimanjaro with my dad and a small group of hikers. Throughout this whole video, I couldn't help but think about that trip and how life-changing it was. I think it would be an experience you would really value and make the most out of. It was the hardest but most rewarding thing I've ever done, and helped me see how capable I am of doing hard things as I train for my first marathon. If you look into it at all, I highly recommend Thomson Safaris-some of the kindest, strongest, and most thoughtful people I've encountered. This was a beautiful video and thank you for sharing this experience with us. I can't wait to see you accomplish that run with your dad!
I ran my last half marathon 16 years ago and will be running the Royal Victoria half marathon in B.C. this October because of this channel. I signed up for the Melissa's Road 5km race in Banff two weeks leading into the half. Nice to see your dad wearing his Melissa's road race shirt from the 2022 race!
I’m going on a 7 day canoe trip in a week! This video gave me such good vibes and is making me really excited to get back out in the wilderness, completely off the grid and roughing it :)
Such a great lesson, that is one of the things I try to remember when doing a hard hike, or a hard life thing, plus once you take those first steps it's all over so quickly, like the finishline is way closer than it seems
glad everyone is ok. been backpacking in that area before and have seen people fall 1000ft slipping down ice sheets trying to get to the top of whitney getting seriously injured in the process. good call turning around without or even with the proper gear.
As someone who is constantly dislocating my knees and shoulders, I can totally feel Paul’s pain 😭 I know the feeling of waiting hours just to get your joints relocated, it’s not fun at all. Hope he has a good recovery 🙏🏻
Came back from my first backpacking trip in the Jasper area yesterday. And today I get this gem in my recommendations! Good stuff as always , I’m surprise by the amount of bugs you guys got, it was too cold for them out here in the Rockies. Choo choo baby
"You should be scared. Otherwise you're not dreaming big enough." Thank you, Cody. I'm in my very first month of starting a small woodworking business, and that is exactly what I needed to hear. I hiked the John Muir trail a few years back. So cool to see you get after it on those passes. The backside of Forester is an absolute ass kicker! Stay blessed, everyone ✌🏼😌
So cool seeing you hike at Kearsarge, I’m doing the PCT and passed through this same section. I remember commenting on how inspiring your videos were for the trail! Keep it up man!!
This was fun, thank you for sharing. Sorry Paul was injured but glad it wasn't more serious than it was. Hiking is great training, did 15 miles across the Sandias here in Albuquerque yesterday. Choo choo my dude!!!
Hey man, just got my Cody Run Club shirt and wore it for training day today preparing for my half marathon this fall. First half for me, and each long run is the first time for that distance... today was my first time doing a five mile run, ever! Thanks for the inspiration and sick shirt. We ascend together!
Hiking is honestly really fun for me. I’ve been on multiple week long and even a 2 week long hiking trips thanks to Boy Scouts and even with family trips. I’m glad Cody did this
I hope Paul is alright! I'm glad everyone else made it back safe. I absolutely loved seeing you on an adventure with your parents. Legit great content, so fun and inspiring! Choo Choo
Backpacking wilderness trails is my favorite thing in the world. Love this so much. Also having been in emergency situations out there myself, it's noooo joke
in October I'm going to Washington DC to do the Army 10, a 10-mile run through the streets of Washington DC, and also in November doing the Norweigan foot march, which is an 18.6 mile footmarch with full combat gear and at least a 25 lb rucksack, under 4 and a half hours, so 15 min/mile, i cant wait? you inspire me so much cody, and after watching these videos always make me want to go running
A friend of mine had a similar experience breaking his leg while we were riding dirt bikes. He was new, but we were out all day with my father, with no issues. So we went out one last time and my father stayed back at the truck. He was coming up to a puddle too fast, and tried to avoid, but slipped out. Bike fell on his leg, and he got a spiral fracture. That was a fun phone call to my dad. Anything can happen, stay safe!

As someone who is constantly dislocating my knees and shoulders, I can totally feel Paul’s pain 😭 I know the feeling of waiting hours just to get your joints relocated, it’s not fun at all. Hope he has a good recovery 🙏🏻
You are seriously the most impressive person. Bless your parents as well, how cool to do that together. Hope Paul feels better 🙏🏻
Cody’s dad sounds so Canadian😭
Came back from my first backpacking trip in the Jasper area yesterday. And today I get this gem in my recommendations! Good stuff as always , I’m surprise by the amount of bugs you guys got, it was too cold for them out here in the Rockies. Choo choo baby
"You should be scared. Otherwise you're not dreaming big enough."
Thank you, Cody.
Good luck man seriously I believe in you!
So cool seeing you hike at Kearsarge, I’m doing the PCT and passed through this same section. I remember commenting on how inspiring your videos were for the trail! Keep it up man!!
Cody looks like such a dad in this thumbnail… it melts my heart 🥹
This was fun, thank you for sharing. Sorry Paul was injured but glad it wasn't more serious than it was. Hiking is great training, did 15 miles across the Sandias here in Albuquerque yesterday. Choo choo my dude!!!
loved this vid! excited to see you run from LA to SD!
That ending lesson was actually really powerful. Thanks cody!
Hey man, just got my Cody Run Club shirt and wore it for training day today preparing for my half marathon this fall. First half for me, and each long run is the first time for that distance... today was my first time doing a five mile run, ever! Thanks for the inspiration and sick shirt. We ascend together!
love you cody. you could be doing the same exact thing every day but would still find a way to make us smile !
cody is so funny here. his comedy jumped out with his parents around. i love when that happens to me i feel like a comedian around my papa
Hiking is honestly really fun for me. I’ve been on multiple week long and even a 2 week long hiking trips thanks to Boy Scouts and even with family trips. I’m glad Cody did this
Hoping for a speedy recovery for Paul. Thanks for bringing us along, Cody! The views were amazing
Loved this video Cody, you’re really so relatable and it just feels so good to watch your videos
I hope Paul is alright! I'm glad everyone else made it back safe. I absolutely loved seeing you on an adventure with your parents. Legit great content, so fun and inspiring! Choo Choo
“It’s a Garmin, buddy” definitely needs to be put on a shirt for shirt
Backpacking wilderness trails is my favorite thing in the world. Love this so much. Also having been in emergency situations out there myself, it's noooo joke
in October I'm going to Washington DC to do the Army 10, a 10-mile run through the streets of Washington DC, and also in November doing the Norweigan foot march, which is an 18.6 mile footmarch with full combat gear and at least a 25 lb rucksack, under 4 and a half hours, so 15 min/mile, i cant wait? you inspire me so much cody, and after watching these videos always make me want to go running
nothing better than backpacking in the Sierra. hope Paul is feeling better. stoked to see you enjoying the mountains.
enjoyed this cody. once again super proud of you dude!!!
The mountains are amazing and unforgiving. It’s always a risk we take going out in them. I really hope Paul makes a total recovery.
I'm so sorry about your family friend. That's terrible. I wish him a speedy recovery.
loved this video cody, had my mom locked in too. more backpacking/camping videos in the future would be awesome. choo chooo
I really appreciate the lesson at the end of the video. Thank you. Great vid
If anything, the lesson is...'Wear your cleats!' 😂 Glad he's okay and thank you for sharing it with us bc that was absolutely stunning!!! 🤩😍🥰👌
another AMAZING video, I’m always so inspired by everything you do, ilysm cody 🫶🏻
Loving the trail hike! It’s be cool to see u explore The North Country Trail here in PA.
