I went on a bike ride with my friend at the 3,000 foot elevation level in the mountains. it was a gradual steep climb up . I have an $1800 Aventon Aventure 2 fat tire e-bike with a 750 watt rear hub motor and he has a $600 Walmart Hyper 250 watt mid-drive mountain e-bike with skinny tires. 8 miles into the 30 mile bike ride I burned my motor up on the Aventon riding in Econo mode and in 1st gear on the steep hill. I had to coast or peddle my bike 8 miles back to my car. My friend’s 250 watt Walmart e-bike had no problems climbing up the steep mountain. His bike totally out-performed my bike on the steep climb. I took my bike back to the bike store and the mechanic said that I needed a new hub motor. Good thing Aventon has a two year warranty because you will need it. The Aventon cannot perform the way it is advertised. I only had my Aventure for a month and it only had 67 miles on it when I burned up the motor. My bike mechanic, and I heard Aventon say this in a review too, not to use the throttle on a hill climb. If you can’t use the throttle then why is it there for ?
I have watched countless videos on this bike. This is one of the best if not THE best succinct reviews and very well done. Kudos.
Thanks! Glad I could help!
I’m getting the same model in black, loved your video. Thank you for your excellent presentation, I do enjoy that it makes you work for it with the torque sensor. I am a disabled veteran but I still need to get my joints moving and exercise. 🕊️
Thanks, glad you liked it, enjoy the scoot!
@@ElectricRevolutionjust ordered last night hopefully by next week I’ll be riding!
Black discontinued, sorry
@@user-tw8mf3ev9x yeah I got one but man do I prefer that Gray instead. Oh well can’t win them all, I still love my Aventure.2, Level.2, & Abound!
Thank you for summing up the bike! It is helpful as I am considering this one and like that it is basic and supports up to 400 pounds. I will take one for a test ride, but it was great to hear your description of the various riding experiences. Thanks for taking the time to discuss it!
You bet! Glad I could help
The beauty of 3, I just got the hit road ebike. Next up is a 60mph bike, then a ninja Kawasaki 600cc
I purchased one last fall and love it. Got throttle happy on the first ride and laid it down at speed, haha. Just some soft damage to the shoulder for a few weeks. I love the quality and have had zero issues, just a few small maintenance things. My suspension seat post was a good upgrade. It's a bit heavy but not hard to handle, the faster the easier it is. The components are great and I love the screen. Wish it had front turn signals, oh well.
Dang! Glad you didn't get messed up, you got lucky! Thanks for the comment
Glad I stumbled onto your channel. Great reviews and best website I have seen. I am deciding between the Adventure 2 or Nomad 1. I don’t see the Adventure 2 on your sight yet for comparison to the Nomad. Any tidbits of advice on making the final decision between the two?
Thanks and welcome! The Aventure 2 should be on the site in a few more days, I've got my guy working on it and I'm not sure both are quality bikes, I'd go with the Aventure just because they are more popular and have excellent customer service
Been researching a while and this is the best e-bike review I have seen. Love your method and detail. I will be purchasing the Aventure 2. You mention the seat isn’t as soft as you would prefer. Do you have any recommendations for soft aftermarket seats?
Awesome! Glad you like it! There's some decent ones on Amazon, don't have one off the top of my head, I'd just go with one of the highest rated ones and if you can grab a seat post suspension, even better
Just checked: UNDER $30… Hard to go wrong there.
I have had one for four weeks now and it’s a good bike with one caveat, when I hit 16.2 mph a strange loud resonating vibration sound starts and will last to 20 mph . The sound comes from the rear motor hub / rear disk brake area. It’s consistent and always appears between 16.2 - 20 mph. It’s loud enough that other riders ask me what’s wrong with the bike. I’ve reached out to Aventon and still waiting for a response . I find myself purposely avoiding 16-20 mph as it’s very annoying. I’ve seen forum posts with other riders complaining of the same issues. If I would known this prior I would not have purchased this bike.
Same issue, so far no operating issues
Nice review! I have the original Aventure and find the display hard to read in daylight. In particular the power level is a gradient blue bar that is so dark as to be invisible even when set at full brightness. Did they fix this in the 2.0 version? It looks brighter in your video.
I'm thinking so, mine was plenty easy to see in daylight
I have been riding an Aventon Sinch for 5 months and now I am considering upgrading to the Sinch2. However, I have come across the Addmotor M160, which seems to be better.
Decisions decisions, haven't tried the M160 so can't say which is better
I like it
New to the E-bike scene, do you think throttle alone would have gotten you up that hill?
No, you gotta help it out
Personally I'd give it a 6/10 (for the first gen btw). It's a great bike if it fits what you're looking for but I had to sell mine after 800 miles of rideing. Fenders wouldn't stay on, battery literally fell out a few times, just not fast enough, and the battery is absolute crap. For its price point I tell people it's perfect but I'm hoping in the next few years we can get some bigger and better ones.
1300 miles so far. Battery is AWESOME. I am easily able to cover 40 miles and still have 25% left. But I ride in ECO mode most of the time. Fenders. No problems there. Kick stand is adequate, but poorly placed and it rattles constantly. Had to. Bungee cord it when riding. Otherwise, Aventon Aventure 2 is an amazing bike. Back rack isn’t very spacious and the places to connect bungee cords are difficult and inadequate. Front rack (optional) - nice idea except that you can’t store much there because of all the wires that come together in the front of this bike. Torque sensor is a game changer. Wow. Display dims to unreadable if front light is engaged…and it must be engaged if the rear lights are to be seen as constantly ON. This is a major flaw. Otherwise, the bike is fun to ride, extremely well-built, comfortable. I’m glad I bought it and recommend it to others who are looking for a great fat tire eBike.
I love it
I noticed you said your range test was done at 24mph at 4:20, but the screenshot says 17 mph at 4:37 and 25 miles in 1.5 hours.
The range app screen shot does't track accuate speed because it takes all the stops along the way and averages it out
@@ElectricRevolution Makes Sense. Thanks!
Why no regen?
Most bikes don't have regen
And now, after the last update, you can’t unlock to 31 mph anymore.
Do you have any info on this?
@@APPLEJOYs no I don’t. I just noticed mine changed to 28 miles an hour is your top speed and it keeps defaulting to 27 for some reason and I have to reset it each ride.
@@DanLee53 I noticed I use to easily go 33mph. Have you found a way to to get it back to before? Do i need to reset my app maybe 🤔
No, I don’t know how to roll it back
It’s a federal regulation, Aventon got told to nerf the bike or get hit with compliance penalties.
Yo yo
Yo!
*** WARNING !!! **** Bought this after seeing many good reviews. Be aware that their battery BMS is AWEFUL. In the instructions it says that you must disconnect the charging battery within 2 hours of fully charged and never more than 12 hours. In other words, plug it in and check every hour until done?!?!?! REALLY?!?!? If you ride and want to plug in and forget it until the next day, this is NOT THE BIKE FOR YOU. Everything I own...literally everything with a batter can be plugged in and forget it without a problem....except this very expensive bike.
If your looking for a solid tank of a ebike, this a2 is your huckleberry, forget about transporting to your trailhead unless you have a block n tackle, bike weighs a ton
