I’m currently binging season two and I’ve been trying to figure out why I’m still sort of rooting for Joel a little bit. I think you hit the nail right on the head.
Me too - actually I didn’t like the character Joel is season 1 as his behaviour reminded my ex (the flakiness & taking her stuff with hi \m during the break up...) but by season 2 I kind-of liked him as he “manned up” more. The actor is so sweet though.
He's totally on a redemption arc isn't he? Kinda reminds me of Jaime Lannister a little bit. The audience isn't supposed to fully hate Joel, we're supposed to have strongly mixed feelings about him, just like Midge does.
I can totally believe that, men in hollywood are often so much older than their counterparts and sometimes look younger as well (only sometimes) , but it's creepy in general.

This has to be the most charming celeb interview I've ever seen. Both of them are so genuine. Their performances in MMM have been spectacular and I'm dying for S3! Continued success to you both and to all of your colleagues in that show- you've brought so much laughter to my life (as well as compelling, real moments of drama).
I think why this show is so big is that it shows a woman dealing with patriarchy very realistically and isn't restricted to portraying it in a trivial or psuedo-feministic way.
I love that it is set in the time before “women’s work” wasn’t demonized or minimized and you’re seeing women love their roles but also bump up against dealing with the desire for change and higher respect for their doings.

I'm team Joel and Midge! Being 40 is great, nothing bad at all, but Joel looks like he is in his 20s. He seems so sweet and there is something boyish about him, something very gentle about his personality. Love these 2 together!

He was feeling defeated and because at that time you didn't get to show weakness; he cheated as a way to say "I still got it" and his jealousy of Midge didn't help but now we see him maturing and I would like to see Joel redeemed and pull his family back together
YES! Redeemed is a good way of putting it. I think Midge could forgive him, he could find a new start, they could be together for their kids, Joel could run the club, Midge could talk about their life, and Joel could finally realize that she doesn't have to talk negatively about him to be funny, he doesn't have to be the butt of a joke like he has said he hates. She can express her love for him through comedy in uplifting as well as playful teasing in her jokes. We've seen it a bit already!

I love the Catskills! I'm a small town Okie, but I've hiked most of the Appalachian Trail (mostly in 2020) and the Catskill portion was just beautiful.
