Hey guy, loving my Helix, I am a little late to the party with Helix, but I am getting some great tones and the effects are just spectacular. Have already played it out live. In this video you'll get to see me unbox the helix and then run it through it's paces. It's only been a few weeks and I am already dialing in the tones I hear in my head. Peace! Rich!

You're a great player Brother ( Sweetwater was supposed to include a Sweetwater sticker they come with everything that you order from them I don't know why you didn't get it). I just wanted to say when I saw that you were unboxing Line 6 I was just extremely happy when I found out it wasn't a Line 6 Spider LOL. From what I hear they have upped their game little bit. Trying to build better quality stuff that holds up and doesn't break in 2 years.

@@RichBischoff 😂😂😂😂😂...The sticker..call your personal sales rep( they usually assign one who gives you a phone call not long after making a purchase you deal with him/or her.( the same sales rep) every time you buy from them). I'm sure you can get your sticker Rich LOL
Hey Rich great video once again!! I have been thinking about getting a Line 6 Helix someday. Do you use the onboard Wah with it (controller), or can you hook up an external Wah in front of it before the Input to the Helix?
You can hook up an external wah. I've used the onboard wah, not as good as an external especially for live use. For recording its ok.

OK . . now that you have had the unit for a few weeks . . you say you've played it out . . how did you set it up? Did you go direct into the PA or have any back line amp going on? Nice chops, btw. How did you record this for the vid?
I went XLR out of the unit both times. I had no back line. Just had to rely on the in ears at one gig and wedge at the other. For the vid i just went stereo out xlr directly into my interface.
Great review. Actually this might be the one making me buy the LT. Been searching and doing research on what to buy - having Line 6 LT, Headrush pedalboard and Boss GT1000 as alternatives, and you gave me the first good impression on the sound of the LT. I know it’s all about personal taste, and what kind of interface one likes, but always had the impression that Helix sounded a bit thin and digital. However, you gave me another impression. Would be great to know if you’re still satisfied with it? Thanks for the review. 👍🏻🤘🏻

What do you connect the Helix into? With my Helix, these same presets sound like crap, no matter how much tweaking I do. By contrast, your setup seems to sound great no matter the settings.
I'm just plugging into my daw. What is yours sounding like?
@@RichBischoff I'm using the Helix as an interface plugged into Reaper or Cubase via one cable (from the digital output). But you seem to be using two cables plugged into a high-end interface. That's what makes your tone so good, I guess.
Yes. I'm plugged into my daw using the xlr outs, and in stereo. So the stereo effect are probably making it sound a little better. I been plugged in USB to my computer before, but it still sounded good.
Great video. You seemed to forget which affects were assigned to each foot switch. I was on the fence whether to get the LT or the floor model, I think I’ll go for the floor model now after seeing this. Because of the scribble strips, it’s 400 extra but I think I’ll go for it. Do you only run it through a Pa or frfr speaker I’m asking because I have an amp but I’m nervous about getting an frfr speaker because of gigging volume purposes
PA only. Toying with the idea of doing a multiple output from the helix. A line to an amp without cab modeling and a line to front of house with cab modeling.

I was thinking of buying this unit, but the players, certainly competent technically, don’t seem to know how to show how this unit’s functions. Where’s the creativity, adventurous sounds ? You can buy the HX or Stomp and besides losing many inputs and outputs, you’ll sound the same. Not saying the unit’s not great….then show it !!
