That last synth sound is dope!! I've also been working on similar Miami Vice style beats. I have been investigating a move from ableton to mpc1000 and old synths... this was a very helpful tutorial cheers!!!
The mpc records midi notes. Either these note trigger the samples stored on the mpcs cf card, or sounds from an external sound module. If the sound module (e.g. keyboard) is not connected, you will not hear nothing. You may connect another keyboard, but for obvious reason the sounds are different, only the notes and probably gate times remain static.
@MPCSENBK your welcome. Im not an expert just stumbled across figuring something out. the 3b 4b 5b etc are different midi channels. most synths with midi capabilities have up to 16 different midi channels, so the mpc has midi 1-16a and 1-16b incase you want to use whichever one you'd like.
@KaersonTV yes, i did that for a song i wrote once. recorded individual chords into the mpc, trimmed them individually, set them to individual pads and recorded the sequence i wanted by hitting the pads in real time. its very effective.
@returninginsurgent I used to have this problem as well. Make sure the midi channel set on your korg is the same midi channel set on your sequencer. I do not have a korg so I'm unaware of how many midi channels it has or how to change it on the synth itself, but lets say the midi channel on your korg is set to 4. then you have to set the midi on the mpc to 4A or 4B (depending on which one you are plugged into) if youre still having problems let me know
@rofea cheers man. i like creating midi files in Reason and exporting them into the MPC then midi syncing synths to play them. pretty fast and efficient way to get some serious basslines
Nice set bro, question.... can you run diferen program change one shynth for diferent tracks in a sequence?, i try but, just work if i change between sequences.
@QuiteFranklyTNE was a different instrument playing the pattern you recorded? if that was the case try switching the midi cables in the back of the mpc (change 1 to 2, a to b) if that didnt work let me know
GOD BLESS YOU! question: is it a midi "handshake?" because when I midi my korg to the mpc, it only lets me record the sound from the korg via the mpc pads. I midi them first, right? then go to a sequence and change to midi, press record/play and then play the korg keys and nothing happens. thats whats been frustrating me. any advice?
hi how i can keep the sound of recording midi keyboard into the mpc cause when i switch off the synthe and i restart the mpc alone there's no synthe sound!!!thanks
so im having troubles having my mpc drums play while recording synth parts? Also when I go to record a synth part the click track goes away and I try to make it come back through the mpc settings, but i still cant hear it?
My mpc should be midi synced with my korg electribe. Question is, will the MPC as a slave send the midi clock messages through its midi out using the soft thru option? I read about lot of people having problems with the midi soft thru.
question so lets say you load up a song you did yesterday using a friends keyboard and recorded your midi notes but dont have the same keyboard hooked up will it play back the song or will it play back blank because its just the midi notes?
Ok looks/sounds great, but I have 3 questions please: 1) how do you change (activate/deactivate) through the different sequence/tracks on the fly with the MPC? Just wondering cuz I use an old Roland sequencer where u just press the track buttons (1-8). 2) How do you like the built in drum machine/drum pad sounds on the mpc? (OR should I ask, how do you like the MPC as a drum machine). and 3) Can you save your midi to a USB, or it has to stay on the mpc? Please answer these three questions for me! Thank you.
+LoW LyFe 1 - You can mute and unmute separate midi tracks on the fly 2 - MPC is a powerful substitute for a drum machine. Keep in mind it's a SAMPLER, you put in your own sounds but can sequence it like a drum machine (that's a pretty limited use for this machine though). The sounds it comes with are garbage. 3 - Everything is saved to a Compact Flash SD memory card in the machine (mine is 8GB, that's a lot). You can import and export midi files via USB
how do i have drum sounds if the program is off.... and when i have it synced when i press the key of the keyboard it has that sound and the drum sound from the mpc on the key of the keyboard at the same time
Good videos I have been trying to figure out how to record me playing the keyboard into my mpc 1000 through midi .I know how to record my performance throught the record mode. But i want to know how to record my performance through midi,And what settings do i make on the mpc 1000?
the sequencer is ployphonic or monphonic ? . one note at a time or can you play chords or note stacks ? Like if you have 3 notes being played/actavated at once comeing from the sequnencer ? No worries if you cant answer
Anyone know if a Korg Electribe can do this? I try and try but constantly fail. All I can do is play the external synths from the korg pads...need to play from the keyboard and record like on here!
hey i have a question i have protools 9 mp i have midi keyboard but i want to record midi on mpc1000 how do i hook up and and how can i hear sound from computer keyboard on mpc 1000 i dont want to use protools to record i have a tascamm 24 track recorder for that any info is helpful thanks
Hi! I connect the same synth in input 1 and everything looks good then when i connect the same synth in input 2 nothing comes in is it possible for the midi in 2 to be damaged or is about settings? thank you in advance
@bizmarkie507... okay i just did everything...then i selected the instrument i wanted to record from my keyboard....when i was finished...i played it back...the pattern was recorded correctly but it wasnt the instrument i selected...
@beatrocka5 hmmm that could very well work, unfortunately i dont have access to my synths at the time to try this out! will keep this is mind thank you
Hey biz i gotta problem i got mpc 5000 and i try the same thing with my synthesizers but its not working ....i only can play sounds from mpc on keyboard buti cant record sounds from synths on mpc ....i think midi just sending signal about info and for sound transfer i need some jack cables :) what do you think buddy ....maybe 1000 working diffrently ...
hmmmm. you sure you change the sequence to a new unused number in the mpc when you try to record the new patches? if not, hmmm i really don't know i'll have to monkey around with that in the near future to see if i get that problem also goodluck
plug the audio out of your keyboard to record in on the mpc. then hit mode + record on the mpc. when your ready hit f6, then hit it again to begin. presto.
bassline sounds like sharts.
squelchy af

I'm about to link up 5 sound modules via a midi thru device and set each track to a seperate midi channel. Your video was very helpful, thanks.
That last synth sound is dope!! I've also been working on similar Miami Vice style beats. I have been investigating a move from ableton to mpc1000 and old synths... this was a very helpful tutorial cheers!!!
"my direction for songs is what would don johnson play in his tapedeck." haha, nice one. :D maybe i should try that too.

Very informative Video. Thanks alot!!
@StarBoyJonesProds the mpc1000 only records what notes to play, you have to reload the particular patch on the synth itself.
hey thanks for this tutorial ! i just have a question can you play chords on the synth into the MPC and record the notes ployphonic style ?
@mathbsound yes you can record and playback chords,, so the midi it records can be polyphonic.
Nice set bro, question.... can you run diferen program change one shynth for diferent tracks in a sequence?, i try but, just work if i change between sequences.
@joneboogy You need to switch from Drum 1 - 4 to MIDI for just the Keyboard sound
@QuiteFranklyTNE was a different instrument playing the pattern you recorded? if that was the case try switching the midi cables in the back of the mpc (change 1 to 2, a to b)

Depends on your Audio Interface...Which on do you have and do you have enough ins & outs...

Ok, so once you assign your own drum sounds to the pads, can you pattern sequence them like you can do with a regular drum machine?
yep.
how do i have drum sounds if the program is off.... and when i have it synced when i press the key of the keyboard it has that sound and the drum sound from the mpc on the key of the keyboard at the same time

hey i am doing what ur saying but my keyboard is playing the drums and the keyboard sound at the same time how can i change that?
nice beat! very moody..are you using quantize?
@DynamicVonn yeah the only way to hear sound with what im using is to plug the main outs on the mixer into speakers. and how do you what?
Can you record, while playing, and assign samples to different pades etc. ?? ...if yes, is it possible to edit/modify them, placing in sequence?
the sequencer is ployphonic or monphonic ? . one note at a time or can you play chords or note stacks ? Like if you have 3 notes being played/actavated at once comeing from the sequnencer ? No worries if you cant answer
@joneboogy select Pgr: at the bottom center of the display screen and change it to OFF
I'm searching for a good midi-keyboard. Is there some keyboard that you can recommend?
Thanks in advance.

Fyeeee bruh the juno smacken
depends, what are you trying to do? record actual audio from your mpc into logic? or the midi data?

right do you kno anything about using midi with daw programs like reason?
thank you! i'll be married to midi for the rest of my life
@beatrocka5 hmmm that could very well work, unfortunately i dont have access to my synths at the time to try this out! will keep this is mind thank you
Cool video man. With a midi hub you can sync more than two devices?
so if i hit record and change the bars and tempo on the mpc will it be the same in protools?
When you reload a project, how do you male sure your presets from the synths reload as well?
Helpful tutorial. Thanks.
I plan on getting a MPC 1000 used. I do have the DS Mopho and two Yamaha Reface boards. that Mopho is pretty fat sounding. almost like a moog.
when i recorded the beat i played the pads in real time but used the time correction feature to tighten it up. thank you for the comment
Does This Hook Up To Speakers Or What???.....And How DO i
Hey biz i gotta problem i got mpc 5000 and i try the same thing with my synthesizers but its not working ....i only can play sounds from mpc on keyboard buti cant record sounds from synths on mpc ....i think midi just sending signal about info and for sound transfer i need some jack cables :) what do you think buddy ....maybe 1000 working diffrently ...
+Adam Meuszynski you need audio cables. Midi only records input
Is it possible to record the audio of the sequenced midi data back into the mpc 1000 if so how and what settings etc?
Cheers peeps😁😁😁😁
+GelenosOak Yes, read the manual
Gracias ❤❤❤
Nice tune
@bizmarkie507 thanks. working it out now..will update.
instead of 2b just use 1b, you get 16 tracks for each midi, 1a through to 16a will be ur mo pho and 1b through to 16b will be the other.
Audio?
sick beat
V nice, Thanks!

I know the bassline sounds like the synth is taking a "phat" wet shit
yep and thanks
hi hannah
not exactly sure what you are asking...sorry. can you be more specific?
@daymont lol

He
I think this one of the badest and worst explained tutorial I've ever seen
