Sounds like you're describing Lorna Shore to me. Their songs don't have much blatant variation. The rewards tend to only pay off to the most keen of listeners. Slaughter, however, jumped between different variations of metal through each song. There's easily accessible rewards for the listener.

But at the same time lots of bands sound very similar unless you listen to them nonstop.

Great review nik loved this, you gave me even more of an appreciation for the song.. I was originally a bit disappointed there wasn't that crazy brutal breakdown but the solo was sick and it was definately unexpected. The whole idea behind the song (its based on a great book) makes it even more epic.. and how insane is Alex's vocals now he's just working his ass off and it shows!

However, Ash essentially said he's against boycotting and the censorship of his labels music being available in Russia. By what he said, you can also tell that he and the band have mutual respect for one-another. Judging by what other fans have said, it sounds like the band knew how special 1984 was on a personal level, and you can definitely tell when comparing it to their usual sound. I respect them for writing something unique to emphasize the lyrical content, instead of taking the easy route and treating it as though it were business as usual.

@Dragon Ball fans can't read Early 2000's Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, Gojira, Disturbed, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Korn. This is the era of metal I grew up in and it was awesome but this era has great music too! What happened in the 80's and 90's is not the same as Early 2000's or now. We have the internet those eras didn't. It's alot different today but for metal it's still awesome.
