    It's been 6 years since you made this, and I'm SO glad I found it! Just yesterday I saw the RITVA curtains at IKEA, now with a 65" long option (and they're so popular they were out of stock) and your explanations/descriptions have really helped me understand all the possibilities. For you and anyone seeing this, I've also learned about C-rings (just like the rings you used but shaped like a C rather than and O) for hanging drapes when there's a bracket in the middle of the rod. Many thanx!

    Jenna you leave an excellent informative video on the curtain hanging choices. Your voice is very pleasant, you're organized, very thorough, well spoken, and adorable in style, but not annoying or cutesy. I'm an older retired educator, but YOU taught me a lot without wasting my time! LOVED it. (this is my first comment and I surf cyberspace a LOT!)

    Thanks so much, Jenna. I bought curtains on Overstock and they had a strip along the top of the curtain with a long pocket, strips along the back every 2 inches or so and eyelet holes. Didn't know what all of them were for. Your video was very helpful. Thanks for taking time out to do the video .. for the 920th time.

    I used 20 pleater hooks on each panel. I honestly can't remember how far apart I spaced them. I did have to cheat a little - skipping four slots on some and three on others. I know that's not extremely helpful, but hope knowing that I used 20 per panel helps a little.

    Thx for all the ideas ! It’s now 2020 (and your kids are now 8 yrs older !) and I’m just now buying the white Ritva curtains. I want them on aaaaaaall of my windows in every room - family room, kitchen, dining room, living room, master bedroom and sitting room, and 3 other bedrooms. That’s a lotta curtains lol but I love them. And these ideas are great because I may now decide to hang the curtains differently in the dining room and living room versus the family room & kitchen & bedrooms. Now I just hope that I can still get my hands on these IKEA white panels ..

The wall color in your dining room is the color I chose for my boudoir, lol, and the curtains,fabric and style, are JUST like what I am trying to make! And it gives me a nice visual of how it WILL look, so thank you. And on to your room, with the blk and white curtains THAT is a great idea and THAT is what I will do! Your house if beautiful, too. Thanks, glad I checked out your video!! It was most helpful. Take care.

    btw, another method that I ended up doing was turning the pleater hooks backwards so that I could still use the rod pocket fiber things. No rings yet I still get a deep pleat. The hook part of the pleater hook is hidden in the pleat. Allowed me to hide the pole and still get the very formal look. Thank you!

    Thank you! This was great - the clips had me confused and you helped clarify how they're used. You should take a look at the Kvartal system from IKEA...absolutely amazing...you can hang up to three different depths of drapes on the track system - or create panels to create whole new spaces within a room. I'm using the three part system to hang sheers behind opaque. You'd love the system :)

    I have some fabric that is almost the same as your chair fabric! I'm working on a massive drape project, but YT's have been invaluable. One question I have is who taught so many young people to pronounce curtains as "curt-ens", "mitt-ens", etc. You didn't do it all the way through, but my husband and I chuckle to hear so many younger people emphasize the 2nd syllable. Great job on the video!! Thanks for letting us see your house!

    My husband actually made. We use 1 1/4″ EMT steel conduit. You can buy it at Home Depot. The one you are referring to without the center bracket is just one piece of conduit. The really long one in the living room {which has a center bracket} is two pieces he welded together. He also made the brackets which he cut to size and shaped from steel flat stock {again from Home Depot}. We painted them all with Rustoleum’s Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint to get the color we wanted.

    Dear JennaThank you for this guidance. I followed yesterday your video, learned a lot and went today to our IKEA in Sunrise Florida. I looked at the curtains and as I touched that beautiful curtain to look how it's hung, it landed on my head, rod with heavy curtain, and caused a severe injury. IKEA should definitely pay you for your wonderful presentation, but, should compensate me for their negligence in their showroom upstairs, my pain, loss of days of work. Had it happened to a child, it would be fatal. I'm fortunate to be able to function and be alive.It's by no means a finger pointed at you, no. It's a little warning to those who go to IKEA. Sorry to use this platform for this report, but, it may save others lives.Yael Shany

    Hello Jenna, Just wanted to ask you, how did your husband bend/mold the steel flat stock? My wife is really interested in making our own curtain rods. Also for your living room curtain rod you mentioned you didn't use a center bracket, did the pipe bend when the curtains are hung? I know steel pipes are heavy duty but those curtains can be heavy. Thank you in advance for your answer.

    From my husband, "I clamped it on my workbench between two pieces of stiff angle iron. Then using the Vise Grip Sheet Metal bending tool, I bent the flat stock against the angle iron to make the sharp 90 degree bend {where the bracket goes flat against the wall}."

    Thanks for the compliments! The gray in my dining room is Functional Gray by Sherwin Williams. After a year I'm still very happy with it! You can see a few more pictures on my blog - search for "Tweaking the Dining Room" {I'm not able to put a direct link here.}
