I just want to say thank you for this recipe. As a person who doesn't normally like mushrooms, I made this one day for my family, and everyone loved it - including myself. The taste is absolutely amazing, and it's actually become a staple in some of our meals. Sometimes, we'll take what's leftover from the soup and use it in other recipes, and they turn out even better because of it.
So, thank you once again for introducing my family and I for an amazing recipe.
I have made this soup many times over the years still my go to. I usually would cut back on the cream. I stir fry the onions with leeks n carrots. Adds to the flavour profile.
Made this many times over the years. My wife just requested it today so I thought I’d drop a comment. Great recipe! It’s now part of my family tradition.

I notice that everyone like to use chicken broth for almost all the soup,why? Mushroom is strong flavor veg, you cook cream of mushroom soup,you wanna taste the aroma of cream and mushroom . It might goes well with a little garlic and parsley,when you take spoonful soup , you can taste the different layer of flavor. So if I were you, I would skipped lemon and chicken broth, use water instead . I eat the soup with some wine,that taste awsome.

I made this on Saturday and it's out of this world! The button mushrooms I bought were only 14 ounces so I added some portabellas I had. I put some of those in the blender too. I also used chicken broth as I didn't have (or couldn't find) any chicken bouillon. The one thing I'm glad about is that none of my kids like mushrooms so I get it all to myself!
This recipe is incredible. I have been watching this video for the last 5-7 years to remember how to recreate this soup in my own household. It has become a Thanksgiving Eve tradition to have a bowl of the soup before it becomes part of a dinner favorite of everyone - the green bean casserole with fresh homemade mushroom soup and hand made fried onion rings. I amended the ingredients a little bit as in my area we have wild puffball mushrooms that grow in October. I have dehydrated pcs as well as powder that I added to this mushroom soup for more intense flavor.
I just finished making a big pot of this soup -- it tastes great. I doubled the recipe and served with a large fresh salad. Great meal for a winter night. Thanks for sharing!

OMG! This is the best recipe!! Today, oyster mushrooms were plentiful with at a great price, so I used these instead of buttons. I saved the roots and stems and blended as he said to do. Sooooo yummy!!

You are correct. I made your soup, with some variations (used beer as part of the 'liquid), but you are right about the stick bender. It did not make it as smooth had it would have, had I done it in my big blender. The flavor, on the other hand, is next to heaven. Without a doubt, the best flavored cream of mushroom soup I've ever had.

It's hard to believe that supermarkets have an entire aisle of can soups, and at $3.99 for a can, you are so right. You just made my favorite soup. now that I know how quick, and easy it is, I will be making all my soups at home, " fresh". Thank you
great recipe. I used creamini and chanterelles. Excellent taste and so so smooth. Next time I will use our homemade bouillon, just a bit less salty.

Great recipe! I am trying my new vitamix so started with a vitamix recipe -- mushrooms, almond milk, garlic, and peppercorns as a base. However, for me, it just didn't have the right taste. I used your ingredients to give it that extra boost. My husband loved it!

Thanks for your video. It was very strait forward, explicit and a well done. I made for first time the cream mushroom soup this Thanksgivings and it was a hit, just like you say. I added a 1/4 tsp of Italian season and left my onion and steams mix a little thick, to my like. Other than that your video was a great guide. Thanks for sharing it. ! (Maybe adding a little potato and carrot could give me Rev. 1.01) God bless. !
I've just made this and it's absolutely delicious. The differences I made were 3/4 less butter - I didn't have a full pack - subbed by olive oil, lemon from a squeezy-bottle and 2 chicken cubes and 1 teaspoon of veg bouillion. I know I've lost some of the richness but it's still a cracking soup.

I have used unsweetened soy milk and non sweetened almond milk which give a bit of a nutty flavor to the soup and sorta heightens the flavor of the mushrooms, hard to explain but it's good. Also use vegan margarine but not as much as the butter in this recipe. Maybe two tlbs. And the kicker is using some non dairy vegan sour cream. It will never be the same as this recipe but will surprise you as to how good it is. The butter is the key taste element in YPG's recipe.

Try blending half the mushrooms or so like Laura Vitale does, for taste, texture and color, also I like to use canned milk for all these creamed soups and stuff, it's got a lot of calories tho at 400 calories a can, also sauteed onions and garlic not sure if adding a little white wine woukd do for flavor but its a neutral color and delicious in cooking anyhow

Abe, certainly you can sub broth for the bouillon and water items in the recipe. That particular bullion is a product called "Better Than Bouillon" produced by a company called "Superior Touch." You can just enter their name and add a dot com to it and you can find out about their products. I guess their real name is Superior Quality Foods and they are out of Ontario, CA, USA. They should be able to tell you a retailer that carries the product in your area. It's good stuff.

I'm a Type I diabetic, so I try and cut back on simple starches and sugars when I can. I think my solution is going to involve finding something like corn starch or arrow root. See if I can't cut down on the carbs. :) Or, just deal with it and enjoy some delicious soup.

Hello Again Mr. Produce Guy!!! *SWIG* ^_^ Just made this and The Bad F Man just wanted to let you know a few things: Didn't brown the Margarine... Used Canned Mushrooms... Still cooked it the whole way on Med Hi... Used Dehydrated Minced Onion Reconstituted... Used Half and Half instead of Cream... Skipped the blender and cooked the soup through!!! Still tasty and the little bits on onion gave it a nice texture!!! Have a feeling it's going to be better when reheated tomorrow!!! *SWIG* ^_^ Thx!!!

Thanks so much for this delicious looking recipe. I hadn't thought of using mushrooms this way. But at the moment, I am trying to eat healthy and will substitute the cream for fat reduced cream, but wondering if there was an alternative to using the butter but still be tasty. Any suggestions?
