- Josh & I find a 1960 Mango Vw Bus that has been sitting since 1971, yes 52 years! Today we begin the extraction of the rare Bulli from it's grave. Can we get it out in piece? Can it be saved? Did I buy it, will this be our next VW rescue?
A kid that works? What a novel idea. You ROCK Josh.
Josh is a GREAT kid. You must be very proud. He hung in there and even said "this is fun",,,, and we never heard a peep of negativity out of him. Love a video that shows a Dad and Son working alongside each other like that. He absolutely deserves to go fishing!
Thank you , yes it’s a different world these days…I’m here at a kids party and parents telling us what a nice kid he is …appreciate it
He was in until I spent an hour messing with that front drum , not bad for 4 hours sleep for us :) . Thank you 380
Good To See Josh Helping! He’s A Great Helper!
What a great kid! You guys are a good team. More Josh on this channel!
So cool that you can share the experience with your son......Thanks for sharing... so lush and green!!!
YES ! time spent with the boy worth way more than the old bus .
One of my favourite vehicles, imagine the places you guys could go together in that thing and the memories youd have of rebuilding it together and holidaying in it together... you know it makes sense!
That was cool to see Josh on that rescue helping out! That one, was definitely tired. Time for some fishing!!! Josh made the call!!
Great to Josh out helping you rescue this VW bus
I really appreciate all you do together.. Maybe I m a bit jealous cause I wish to be there with a son like yours 😊.. Hope this van can be saved... Good job guys
Cant imagine what's been living in there for all those years!! Make sure and clean that out good!! Hope everything goes well and good to see the young one helping out and not just playing video games!!
I hope the people was kind enough to just give you this because you and your son worked really hard to get this out of the grave. Great video. Hope you’re having a great weekend and enjoy your 4th .
So many memories of helping my Dad on projects when I was Josh’s age! And the choice to laugh when pinching your fingers on the mirror and laughing rather than the 1st choice I’d make! You’re a good man raising a good son!
Jason’s best video yet!! Don’t matter if he gets this junker, power washes it as a usual restoration and parks it to rot some more on his property, the value is working with his son Josh!!
Great job Jason!!!!
Seeing this bus sunk down so deep, wow! Josh has grown so much. He'll be gaining a lot of strength every year now.
Your son handles a shovel better than most men...kudos to him and his strength.
you two make my day. God bles.
My boys helped me with my work all the time when they were young. They are forty and thirty seven now and will tackle anything that comes their way.
And- they are good men
Keep enjoying this time Josh it goes fast.
Wow, Awesome find! This is a like a Deja Vu to another epic bus rescue vid I just watched were they drove it out from the Deep French Alps, its: "RESURRECTION - Rescue of a VW 1955 panelvan - Forest find !" 👏👏👏👍🤟✌
Thanks for digging out my next project 🙂
Haha, I don’t deliver to CALI …they’d never let me cross the line with this New England special
Love your videos Dynamic Duo back in action can't hardly believe how tall he is really growing 💟😁😁😁
Really cool find Jason man that’s going to be one of your toughest rescues yet good thing for a young “ back” !
Thank you Mark , yes but worth it :)
You are very lucky to have that great kid . God bless.
Father and son. Fantastic. God bless you.
👍👍
Doing this stuff with your son is awesome. Great bonding
Getting your son involved early in life will almost certainly benefit him his entire life. I involved my son in everything early in his life & he's now 30 & not afraid to tackle and be successful with any project.
Top lad there! Fair play to him, keen and strong, its a rare thing these days - been well brought up! :)
I applaud you for including your son Josh in your adventures..
Boy what a job. Your son is great. Tuff crew. Thanks from Sc
Much appreciated , more soon
Welcome to your Summer Vacation Josh! Love this!
Awesome find !! Love Josh , he’s so cute. Great work guys. Hope you get to restore the Bus for Josh 💪💪🤙🤙👍👍
I think you called it right on this one Josh. Be sure to send this fine boy to college in 6 or 7 years or so Jason!
It’s toast but you have created some great father son memories!! Great effort!!
Good to see You Men from South Central Pennsylvania, Making a Valiant Attempt at Freeing another Bus from its Would be Grave. Class Act You Fella’s are indeed! I for One of Ten of Thousands of Viewers wanted to Thank You Both for taking the Time and Putting in the Additional Work to bring us Along & Witness Josh getting Groomed to be Opposite of Today’s Typical Youth while doing so. The Typical Youth that Run from Manual Labor. Josh is Cut from a Different Cloth, Similar to Dad’s Cloth, Very Similar and that’s a Great Thing. I’ll catch you Men on the next one, Keep It Safe Out There Fella’s
Its amazing the value of these vans now a days people want a fortune.i remember buying these for 500 bucks all day long!
Don’t give up! If Andy Dufresne can dig out of Shawshank you can surely dig this old fella out.
everybody is right, Josh IS a great kid, love his attitude,
Josh is the kind of kid every father wants at his side for projects! It’s unbelievable that that bus went from Germany to the United States and then to Japan! That’s got to be some kind of record to cross the Atlantic and the pacific!
What a treat. Great job
Thank you , not done yet :)
It’s nice your son eagerly helping you so many kids around here wouldn’t dare helping their parents. What’s the point of having kids if they can’t contribute to the community.
Thank you , much appreciated
Just a few seconds into this one, and I gotta say, this is what we hunt for. Well done my man! Can't wait to see the extraction and hear more history.
EDIT: As I was watching you dig this one out, I was debating with myself whether I would bother with it. Oddly, I really enjoy this part of old car hunting, but sometimes the payoff ain't worth the effort. I would likely keep going, purely out of stubbornness. Someone out there will want that bus, and take the time and effort to save it.
yes , we are going to need a bigger shovel :)
Or a spatula? 🤣
Wow. Not sure what you can salvage from that one. Kudos for making the effort.
headed back up this week, it's coming home
Very cool bus and history of it. Great to see your son working with you priceless 👍
I would listen to josh, that boy knows what he's talking about !!!
He’s been right a time or two haha
What a nice find! Thanks for sharing this story.
WHAT ARE YOU PAYING JOSH? Hey josh make sure daddy pays you😂. I was his age when I started learning plumbing with my father even know I ended up owning a car stereo and alarms shop for 22 years😂 Now I just sit back and watch you guys work. SAVING A VW 5 GRAND, CUTTING DOWN TREES AND DIGGING UP DIRT 50 BUCKS. MEMORIES FOR EVER====== PRICELESS. GREAT VIDEO. A+
Josh is a great helper. Enjoy fishing. The bus is a mess but you have others and two or three could make one. I had three 1960 rancheros to restore one and it's nice but it was very rusty. Actually one of them was a dipped 62 and that gave the quarter panels. Good work!! Good video!!
Josh reminds me of one of my sons at that age. He was awesome. Then, he hit puberty and yea... lol! :) Great find Jason! Looking forward to seeing it on a trailer.
Thank you warbird , we will see :)
My family have one of these in the identical mango green colour scheme! All fully restored and not a thing out of place! Look forward to seeing what you do with this rare SO23
You know you're in deep! when the roof only comes up to your chest! Nice rescue.
Hahaha! I didn’t think of that :)
Nature has reclaimed that one.
nature certainly took a toll on it
Wow. So much rot but it didn't need to be. On the other hand it's the fact that people have left them to rot that they are even affordable to buy. So kind of a double edged sword.
Good to see Josh again😊👍
You are a brave man!
Just a little dirt and some surface rust :)
@@5150mxVW lol
My 1960 bug was rusted out on the bottom so much I could see the road and that was in 1979. They don't have a frame and are unibody construction. Very difficult to rebuild unless you are a very good welder. But bus parts are very difficult to find and sell for a decent price, so those are still worth some money. Best is the time spent working with your son. My kids remember working on houses and cars like that.
Josh is a great helper. No bus left behind, it’ll be on the trailer shortly 😉
Love the video, you and Josh are doing a great job!!
Lil man is growing up. Awesome 😁. Keep up the good work.
:), he is , we thank you William
@@5150mxVW no problem at all. Happy 4th to you and your family. Thanks for sharing as always. Really warm California says.. Hello.
Nice that you had a helper!
😁👍
Good on you Jason, having a great time with The Boy
Good Morning, Yes , we are back up this week for another go at it. Josh decided we needed to bring the Suzuki's up this time ....I hope I can still move tomorrow after a day at the Mx track ( 1st time out is years haha )
You can't leave it behind. Josh is a TROOPER!!!
I’ll be back 😁
This has to be the best rescue I've seen in a long time! That was some serious digging. =)😎😎😎
Haha, you need to watch more rescues
Awesome! Im rebuilding a engine for a 65 bus camper. We just got it back from paint today..
Nice river scene! Josh made the right call 🎣
Yes , only he was asleep 6 minutes into the drive to the lake haha …that was a long drive home w no co pilot :)
@@5150mxVW 💔 Awe, little man was so helpful. You owe him now.
You can use the Jack's Outer Handle as a Breaker Bar for the Ratchet. As a Vw ( Beetle Fan and Owner, I can understand your patience starting from here till finish Restoration, a long Journey to self Satisfaction. Good and helpful young Boy you have to help you too. He will surely become a Vw Fan like us too.
Great work!
love it-- father son team .
You and "mini me" make a great rescue team. Hope the fishing was a little more enjoyable ✌
Thank you , we are back up in NH riding the Mx bikes . Then off to the dig site tomorrow . My first day on a bike in forever , I hope I can move tomorrow haha
I say well done Josh, you really worked hard even though you wanted to go fishing. I am not sure that the bus will come out of the ground in one piece I don't like to be negative, i am always ' a glass half full' person but that is very crusty, The river was running fast but I am not a fisherman so you might get something. Take care Josh and Jason.👍👍
Never cease to be amazed at your resolve to save these vehicles. Keep it up. Plus what are you feed Josh he is getting big and becoming quite a helper.
Thank you Bama , we’ll be back :)
I can confirm those foam square mats come in handy every year when I undercoat my vehicle lol.
Dub Werks now Josh. One lucky man to have two great sons who share your interests… again HOW THE DO YOU KEEP FINDING THESE??? If the rest of the bus is reasonable, someone will take on the project. Kudos that was a lot of work. Josh, you are the man. Hope the fish were biting.
I found one of these up in Northern BC, a 1972. Still has the owners manual in it. It's been years, hopefully it is still there....
Excellent video Jason :) , Josh :) also hope get to van in future videos and Happy Holidays Weekend for July 1 Canada 🇨🇦 Day and July 4th for Impendence Day USA 🇺🇸 holidays too!
That looks like HARD work…..I think I will just sit on my couch and watch you
Sounds like a plan , see you next Saturday :)
It's crispy, but it's a rare one! They make those complete frames...
Some times walking away is a win 😁
@marygarner5249 And long overdue here!!
Looks like a seen from " Lost!"! The " Darpa Bus!" Spooky Fun Maybe" Ninja Turtles inside!"! Josh will Root them Out!!!; )
Just to get it to roll, that's going to tell the story. To stock that one back would be interesting!? I'll be looking forward to your next video. What a team!
Nice mate, that should be a nice resto ;)
Wow, a split window bus with bullet turn signals!
I thought about owning a split window bus back in the day, but the closest I came was a later model with the fish bowl front windshield. I used it as a local work truck. Put a ladder rack on top and put it to use washing windows around town. This was in the mid/late 1990s.
Good.job😄👍👍👏👏Nice bus vw
Cool to see you and your son together . Hope he will be into cars (vehicles) and may desire to save some in the future.
Very sad to see the state or remains of this bus but can be put back together even if you have to just make some parts. Someone on UA-cam has some cut up and roll overs as well as many fixable busses if the rails are too rusty . I'm not a vw fan by any means but I am a van fan and own a mid engined chevy scooby van from the 60s ,I'd buy a panel bus in a heartbeat and think all busses and square backs (because I'm into wagons also) are awesome.
I hope she can be saved but it's sad nobody cared for the van for 5 decades and let her just rot away
Fishing with Dad and son 🎉
👍👍👍🎣
there still good glass in it and some parts for sure
...not a parts Bus
Such a cool bus! 👊🏼
Yes ! Thank you
That was unreal and Josh deserves to go fishing
👍👍, headed back up tomorrow , this time with the Mx bikes too haha …hopefully we get some work done
@@5150mxVW That's great hope it goes well
Ohhh sheesh,we got J crack, sorta like plumbers crack @ 11.17.. My eyes, will never see things the same again..BLEACH!!!
Haha, I can only crop / edit out so much crack lol
Ya got ya a good helper 😊
Thank you
Josh is a great kid. Leave behind....
thank you, much appreciated....one thing i struggle with is defeat ( I can lose but defeat is different ...and knowing when to walk away....I'll be back💪
Heck of a effort by you and your son, if the frame is as bad as you say, most likely will break in two trying to move it. You were smart to step back and give it a 2nd thought.
Well Ive regrouped and have a new plan so we shall see …
The Toyota dolphin next to it is a gem itself!
The drivelines were prone to breaking down because they were underpowered.
Well that was team work
10:00 That almost looks like an American Chestnut seedling by that front wheel! Good find!
Dear 5150mxVW
👍👌👏 And I thought that we would see a "Will it run" video the next time! 😁 ;-) If any, this rescue definitely needs one of those little excavators. I'm happy to see you spending some quality time with your great son Josh. By the way: He has grown significantly.
Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
Not a word out of my mouth .. .. .. .. .. .. I have been proven wrong before .. .. .. ha ha ha ha ha ha. Josh, piece of advice, run !! Be well you two.
Good team effort in trying to get the splitscreen out, hoping you do and then get to workshop to see the condition. Well done Josh 👍
Good to see you here vwcoco this bloke is very clever on the old vw 👍🏻
@@ce7618 hi yeah I’ve supported Jason from the start .
Hi Coco, we are headed back up tomorrow for 4 days . I rented a cabin so that Bus better get on my trailer hahah. Thank you for the kind words
@@5150mxVW cheers Jason thanks for sharing
Sure it is cool. Having a frame that has disappeared is not cool. That one is sadly too far gone at this stage to be not economically viable. If only it was parked over solid ground... Love Josh's shirt!
That's a mango so23 westy and well worth saving
beuatiful video. for real i i wish i find a bus to
Thank you Daniel
Wow!
Should you finish the rescue... YES! I'd love to restore that! I just hope you get it for the right price if you do get it. Thats a ton of work
still want to restore it ?
