There's no one crazier on all of UA-cam than you Coyote. Cause I've all these things you're willing to put yourself through stings that no one else is willing to put themselves through on purpose.
I'm a Michigan girl and one summer i went to Texas to see family, literally 5 mins after being there I stepped barefoot into a full colony of fire ants...AND later that night I was stung by a small creme and brown swirled scorpion...F Texas lol...I luckily avoided my grandpa's shed he had black widows in there
When I was young, maybe 5-7, I went to watch a baseball game my brother was in. But I got bored and wandered around, till I found a bunch of cool hills all collected together almost as tall as I was. I thought it’d be a good idea to jump from hill to hill. You can imagine how that went. It was fireants. TBH hurt less than the one time I put my hand directly down on an asp. Or maybe I just don’t remember the ants as much since it was so long ago.
I had a run in with fire ants when i was a little girl about the same age. 😅 My Grandparents took me blueberry picking and i too found a couple of MASSIVE ant hills…yeah, ‘curiosity kills the cat’ as they say…by the time my Grandmother realized what was going on, it was too late, and our berry picking trip was abruptly cut short 😓. Lol
I can remember when I was about 4-5 years old and I was at a friends house and I was getting ready to leave and my friend and I were playing around in her front yard. In the middle of playing around I fell backwards onto the ground. I got up quickly and thought nothing of it. No more than 10-20 seconds later I happen to glance down at my stuff animal I was holding at the time of falling and there were 50-100 fire ants on my stuffed animal, my arm and whole body. Quickly I freaked out and started screaming/crying. My mom and my Friends mom rushed over to start brushing my whole body to get the fire ants off of me. I don’t remember the pain since now I’m in my 20s but I remember itching so bad and having to take multiple oatmeal bath to help ease the irritation. Safe to say from then on I was very cautious where I was playing and what I was standing over to say the least.
@LadySayeh oh lawd they comin! Seeing one in the way of where you need to go, catching a glimpse of a scurry under the cracks by your front door, hanging out on the wall next to you... they are too comfy with human spaces! I'm literally scared to walk in my parents' yard, there are so many there.

@LadySayeh Yes! They are the only spiders that seem to actually chase you! I have memories like that too. That's crazy and interesting how they are in such different areas of the world. I have a memory of visiting my mom at the school where she taught and one was chasing me down the hallway.

I lived in the desert of southern CA Palm Springs area. And Southern NM. for 16 years I use to play with “hornie toads”. And I saw huge black widows all the time. The desert is a strange place for a kid to grow up in.
We had fire ands all over the place in eastern Washington where I grew up. One time I was standing outside at dusk while my mom was discussing plans for subbing for a paper route. Unbeknownst to me I was standing on a fire and hill. I just didn't notice got back in the car and on the road and all of a sudden they started biting me. Needless to say that was one time I stripped my pants off in the car. Fire ants in the pants. Absolutely not fun! 😂

*I have a question! Can side winder snakes move by slithering?if any herpetologists could answer my question that would be great!* Can’t find the answer on google!! As I understand sidewinders are one of the select few types of snakes that have microscopic pits instead of spikes on its belly scales allowing for the snake to move in a sideways direction/fashion without friction and that this makes it able to a) avoid the heat of the hot desert surfaces by the means of less surface contact as opposed to slithering and b) allows it to move on a terrain that falls out from underneath like sand, but is it possible for a slithering locomotion too if placed on a solid surface? Or is it ONLY capable of moving sideways? is slithering a less evolved way of movement since it only allows for basically forward motion which tends to be a slower way of traveling? I also understand that sidewinders can move up to 18mph allowing it to be one of/if not THE fastest snake to move. I hope *SOMEONE* is able to answer my question. Thank you.

We used to have the reddish brown colored Harvester ants in our area of California they weren't very aggressive and the argentine ants colonized the area and took over. Now all there are is Argentine ants which are a big pest damaging crops by tending aphids and other pests along with invading homes eating food. It was way better with the harvester ants. We also have Vinegaroons , if you put your hand on the ground close to them they will chase after it trying to bite it.

I was the reason my school district created the rule that you couldn't bring poisonous animals to school. They were not pleased with me bringing a scorpion, and then made the rule so I couldn't bring in a rattlesnake and black widow.
