    1. What version are you using in this course?
I am using Pre-release 4.0, but this tutorial is compatible with previous versions as well. A few improvements and updates in riggify and shading nodes have been mentioned, comparing both the old and new versions. You can also follow along with the LTS version.
    2. Where can i get the full course?
    crossmindstudio.gumroad.com/l/animatedcharacter
    3. Is this course entirely free?
The course is not entirely free. Modeling to shading chapters will be released on UA-cam every few weeks. However, the Premium edition on Gumroad unlocks the full course, including the
complete process from modeling, UV, shading, rigging overview, rigging with riggify, weight painting, props manual rigs, pose library setup, animating walk cycles, cloth simulations, creating a background with geometry nodes and procedural shaders, lighting, final rendering, and compositing. In addition to bonus content, it also comes with project files, animated bonus scenes, and other benefits. Check gumroad for full information.
    4. Will this course be compatible with the next release?
For as long as there are no major changes to the interface of Blender, this course should be compatible. The last major UI change Blender received was recently during version 3.0, and the same
will be followed in upcoming versions as well.
    5. I am an absolute beginner; can I watch this series?
If you have never used Blender before, I suggest you clear the basics first. Please check out this series, which helps with basics:
ua-cam.com/play/PLgO2ChD7acqH5S3fCO1GbAJC55NeVaCCp.html). After this, it will be easier for you to follow along with the new concepts introduced in this course.
    6. I need help regarding the course; where should I connect?
You can use the dedicated Discord channel for this server. The link to Discord is available in the description and channel banner:

I purchased the premium version. As with the airplane tutorial, I really appreciate it. I have two criticisms to make of you. The first is the fact that you always use perspective view. For beginners like us, I find it best that you use the views: front, left, right etc. It's more precise.
Our perspective is not the same as yours. Which sometimes gives a false illusion of angle. The perspective view is ideal for an overview (unless you use a camera of course.
The 2nd criticism is the lack of subtitles for deaf people and foreigners (I am French deaf) in your premium version. Premium subtitles do not offer languages other than English (like in youtube).
    Voilà ! Merci!
ps: sorry for my English, I use google translate

Very helpful video with just the right tone and pacing. One thing that would be even more helpful for beginners like me is to also record your mouse clicks, making much easier to follow along. Thank you!

Excellent tutorial. I followed along and made an absolute mutant of a body. But then I spent an hour or so tweaking the verts to get something nice. Which i suppose is how learning goes lol. Wouldn't have even made it that far without your instruction. Thank you very much for posting it
Edit: I'll also add, I particularly like that you explain why certain decisions are made to conform with anatomy and that the end product is mostly style agnostic. I've seen a lot of tutorials for basic character modeling, but they simplify down to a cartoon tube person which won't really scale into something detailed or realistic. While this model is driven towards a cartoony purpose, it has enough geometry and divides the topology in a way that I can see the method being used for more realistic styles as well. The versatility of this approach is greatly appreciated

It was easier for me to make a head in zbrush and then do retopology, but the body was pretty easy to make in a blender. The lessons are interesting, but it's a pity that they rarely come out))) I'm waiting for the next lessons.
I would buy your course, but it is impossible to do this from Russia 😑. I will watch the free version😊
Thank you for your hard work.😎👍

hi, I have a question, is it more effective for us to model with with this flow or first with sculpting??

    • @CrossMindStudio
      @CrossMindStudio  7 місяців тому +2

If you're already familiar with sculpting, feel free to incorporate it into your workflow. However, this series is specifically designed for beginners who may not have been introduced to advanced tools and are new to modeling and character creation. Sculpting is not a necessity for simpler characters, and the poly modeling approach used in this series serves as a great introduction to fundamental topology concepts.
