Ram 1500 2012 Window Regulator Replacement & Repair Left Rear
Thank you for the video! Came in very handy with my 2012 Ram. I bought my window regulator at Amazon, a little over $200 but saved me some money over going to the dealership.
Do u have a link or a part number by any chance? Would really be appreciated.
Amazon does not sell the rear window regulator. Mopar does but the price is over $300. I went to a used car parts store. LKQ will ship it to a city near you. The part with tax costs $82 and the best part is it comes pre-greased.
Bro the dealership was wanting like 480 just for the part. I'm goin to rock auto when I'm home and using this video to replace both my rear windows
At the start of the video you mention locking the window out by drilling a hole in exactly where and putting in a screw to keep the window up forever? thanks
Not a good view on the video but just below where the plastic bracket attaches to the glass.
Thanks so much for the video. My regulator just broke and this will give me a few cues of what to take pictures of and pay attention to. Disappointed in Ram for making this such a pia.
That door handle was definitely a pain to take off.
I put the regulator panel back on and everything is exactly like how it was on the old regulator panel. But now the interior door panel doesn't want to go back into place. The panel is exactly like OEM.
Any thoughts?
florida in the house... man I want customers like yours. sorry I broke your.... they say ok lol Only in Florida
How did u get the door handle back on been trying to 2 days now and still can’t get it in place
With great difficulty. Can't show you on the video but that's the impossible part of this repair.
Can you just replace the actuator? Or do you always need to rplace the whole enchilada?
The actuator is the door lock. For the window regulator it does not include the window motor. Just the entire plate, cables, & cross brackets
The way you doing it is making it very difficult.... the goal is to remove the window from regulator so you can remove the whole black panel from door. Well if you dont take out the speaker first everything is going to be very difficult.. the speaker hole allows you access and room to easily remove the glass from regulator by press in the black tabs... very easy... then once window is off now you can remove the whole panel out .. take before pics before doin this job.the handle is a lil hard but pretty easy if you understand how it comes off. Take out the screw at the top of handle and the bottom part actually pops out after you push in the black flexible clip that hold it in ... u dont have to touch the spring, it pops out towards you. Use light to see lil holding clip better. I did this in 15 min. U should never have to change the integrity of the engineer oem like drilling holes to remove the window
If you have a link to a better video I would be interested. Thanks for the feedback
@@PowerUpAuto sorry for the rude comment. I edit the comment about my opinion on the video . I dont have a video but I'll will make one soon and tag u or send a link
Cant see much, the most important part
I would like a video of how to replace the cable
That would be great. 28 years. 46,000 invoices and even I can't replace the cable
Where did you get the regulator for the rear driver side?
Dealer
I stop at the dealer and ask for a broken piece . They selling all the panel for 450 Dlls😝. No thanks I’ll modify
The current price for the MOPAR part is $304 plus delivery. My total was $344, and it was delivered in 3 days. If you take it to a dealer, they will charge $150 more for the part plus $750 for labor. But as a novice, it took me about 6 hours total including all the swearing.
Try LKQ. I called the one in Crystal River, FL. They have lots of parts, which they will sell at a huge discount. I paid $82 with tax. They shipped it to a local store 10 mins from my house. Shipping was free. If i had gone to the dealer, they would have charged $1600 for the whole job. It took me about 3 hours to replace. I saved over $1500 dollars. My other advice, take a picture before detaching wires and rods. Then take a picture of the back side after detaching. It will come in handy when replacing
I returned the Mopar part. It was supposed to be brand new but it wasn't. The motor mount fell apart. It was obviously a rebuilt part. The motor mount should never be removed and this one was. I returned the part and they charged me $15 for reshelving cost, which is bs. I ended up going to LKQ parts. They charge $82 with tax. Free shipping.
Thanks for not showing me what I have to do. This video tells me everything I shouldn't do. What a joke.
Not sure why the negative feedback. Could be you be sopecific on what I did wrong?
@@PowerUpAuto Okay, let's start with the door handle. Why did you take the spring off? Why did you take the plastic cover of the handle off. The whole door handle comes off and goes onto the new regulator with a little effort. You used a knife but you could have used the plastic pry tool that was used to get the outer door off. Another prt of the video, the camera doesn't show what you are doing. You even said that when you edited the video. But you are just doing something and not telling us what you are doing so the viewer has to guess. You didn't show us how to detach the glass from the regulator. At the end of the video, you said to remove the tape marks, use goo gone but that stuff ruins the car paint. So like I said, thank you for showing us what not to do.
@@michaelzev6163 Hi Michael, I've only done this for 28 years and 45,000 invoices so still learning every day.
The handle has to come off. The new regulator does not include the handle.
If you have a video please post. I really would be interested in what you offer. Thanks, Scott
@@PowerUpAuto yes, you have to remove the handle. You say in the video that you had to remove the spring then you couldnt figure out how to put it back together and it didn't work correctly afterwards but the customer was okay with it. Honestly, if I was your vustomer, I would have asked you to fix it correctly or replace it. And you show taking off the door handle cover, which is glued on. Right? So that is unnecessary. You know you did that trying to remove the plastic clip of the regulator from the handle. Admit it. You never did this repair before. I have over 28 years of repairs under my belt too. Because as long as I have been driving, I have done my own repairs for minor problems and I have been driving since 1978. I am not a mechanic, just simply an American consumer.
I agree with Micheal, horrible footage and the lack of explaining things properly. The camera angle sucks too
what we really needed to see was done off camera, worthless !
Respectfully, this is not the right way to remove the panel , is NOT necessary to remove the handle , if you remove the window ( the bracket the holds the window) the panel removes really easy
If you change the regulator how can you install the handle on the new regulator without taking it off the old regulator?
I got the entire regulator from a junk yard $70 the handle is on it
If you need to remove the interior handle , remove the top screw then push the interior handle from the back pushing forward and the handle will come off and you can reuse whit the spring just like new
I’ll have a video on my Chanel soon , in Spanish
@@EAEAKGEJEJ Then you would not need to remove the handle. I try to avoid used parts when possible. Keep in mind, yours would be considered used right up until the time it broke.
You lack skills in doing this job. You totally destroyed door handle. You don't even have to mess with handle to replace regulator. the latch comes out with regulator. Doing so you can disconnect the handle without all the BS you did. sad truly sad
Greetings from Florida. The handle MUST come off to put it on the replacement regulator. How else would you do it? You will need a handle on the new regulator I would assume.
And just FYI. 32 years and I ONLY do windows and door locks 46,000 invoices. 33,000 customers. I really am pretty good at this.
