I picked up two bottles of this magical whiskey last year and I'm about 1/3 the way through the first bottle. It truly is a wonderful dram to enjoy very rarely. I love that you've opened yours as well! Exactly the way it should be. Drink the glory!
If the macallan oscuro is said to be from 1987 to 1997, the more recent editions, should be older than the previous ones, since the release of the old bottling, in 2010?
Excellent, I have a few drams in my whisky vault but nothing compared to yours. However I also have a few rare or hard to find bottles like the Dun Bheagan 13yo and Knockando 21yo.... We might do a review here in NZ! Did you get the Oscuro on that Duty free special 20% off?
I just pulled the bottle back out to double check. There is no age statement. Further, there is nothing any of the text (in the booklet, packaging or on the bottle) that would give any indication of age. There is an image on one of the pages of the little booklet that describes the whisky with a cask with 1995 stamped on it. But that could just be a stock image so I wouldn't put too much value on that. Regardless, it is good enough to make we want to purchase another bottle - I have almost emptied this one.
6+ minutes in before we get past the packaging & plastic, roughly 3 minutes left as the pour occurs. A dram this expensive & (yes) pretentious deserves more time on the Scotch and less attention to plastic covering the shiny bits...
Whisky Bars Around The World 😂😂😂 I share..! Occasionally..! 😁 Seriously... I have found that if you pull out the good stuff the mood suddenly changes and the question of “how much does that cost” always raises its ugly head. Then jealousy, criticism and blah blah blah. So unless my company is at the same social standing as myself or a genuine Connoisseur I tend not to share.🥂

Nice to see someone buying and drinking it. Well done
What else is good whisky for? :) There is maybe one drink left in the bottle now. Time for another I think .
@@WhiskyBarsAroundTheWorld Great attitude, even with cheaper Whiskeys it sometimes hurts my heart to drink them😭😂

I don't think you can count on that. I haven't checked out a more recent edition but I would expect that they would be using different barrels.
782 dollars
AUD is closer to $1,300.
Definetely not a taste review but thanks for the show anyway
Mr. WBATW, very engaging review, however you seemed to be missing something...... a sidekick, let me know, I'm available 24/7! :-)
lol - do you have your own transport? ;) Where are you based?
Auckland NZ, I'm guessing you're just across... :-)
Yes - but I visit NZ frequently so we will have to catch up on one of my trips. Next one is in November :)

Don't think I got the 20% off :o but did get it duty free.
I might have to fly across just to help you review those bottles :)
Was there any age statement?

@@WhiskyBarsAroundTheWorld I found out it is apparently comprised of both 87 & 97 vintage casks.
@@TheAldawg77 Thanks for the information
Distilled from 1987 to 1997 and bottled in 2015.Aged from 18 to 28 years

Thanks for your thoughts and feedback
Is this Oscuro purchased from Dubai Duty free?
Purchased from Duty Free in Sydney - not much left, I have been enjoying it :)
Great! It's #bottlekill material. :)
Am I the only one who uses white cotton gloves and silk table clothing when handling expensive spirits??? 🤓
Probably why I have no friends..!
lol
But are you drinking it alone or sharing?
