Great review. Well, after emptying a bottle of Mac one can still pour in another Speysider (like Glenfarclas 15 or Aberlour 16 or Aberfeldy 16...) into it.
Great review! People tend to bash Macallan for their price policy and arrogance. But it’s kinda easy to pick on the leaders. I’m not a big fan, but I have to give them a credit for overall quality and successful marketing. Gladly subscribed!
Agree about their prices and the successful marketing. Personally I'm a fan of the house style, unfortunately there are too many low abv overpriced Macallans floating around out there. Thanks for subscribing!
Yup, in Taiwan. I've got a popped vinho soloist on the go, with bourbon, port, and sherry solists in the back room. I'll get around to all of them in time. No TTL bottlings on the go atm, but I'm sure they'll find their way in eventually. 🙂
@@Gwhisky Nice, I'll definitely be following the content. Coincidentially my wife has relatives in Taiwan, and a the friend that introduced me to single malts while I was living in Beijing, Scott Crawford, moved to Taipei recently. I don't expect you to know him, but one never knows. Expat communities have their niches. Cheers and congratulations for the content!
@@wwolf5670 I bought mine a while back before the price shot up. In all honesty I don't think it's worth it at this point. It's now USD $30 more than it was in late 2020. Macallan prices are getting absurd.
Was debating between this and Johnnie Walker Blue for a bottle purchase, haven't tried either, did you have a recommendation for either one? They're around the same price point near me, and in terms of my current favorite - I'd say the Balvenie doublewood 12yr.
Easy. I'd recommend this. Johnnie Walker Blue is very easy sipping with great balance and some aged sophistication. But for me it doesn't have the unique character that we get from single malts. Macallan 15 all the way.
Not a fan of that ginger note that comes in a lot of Macallan, also like you, I find their value to quality to be terrible, can buy a lot of far superior whisky at the Macallan price. Here in Australia you can buy a Talisker 25yo for the price of that Macallan 15yo.

Very educational!!! Good review!

tasted the 18 year sherry last week(not my own), real nice. Going for the 15 double soon.
Great! Hope you enjoy it! 🥃
Haha. Filthy Frank, hilarious. Great honest review. I hadn’t seen your videos yet, but now I’m hooked. Kudos.
Hah cheers. Glad you're enjoying it and thanks for subbing! 🥃

Can't say I know him. Ironically I lived in Beijing briefly a few years back myself!
Good review. Curious if this builds upon the standard 12 enough to justify the price jump? I can get the 15 fairly cheap at $135 🤔
I think it's a pretty big step up, yeah.
Good revew.
Does the bottle mellow at all? I just opened mine and the finish is pure cinnamon. Overpoweringly so. Great channel!
Thanks W Wolf. I find it does open up, but not a lot. I'm sure the cinnamon will subside a bit, though. Thanks for watching! 🥃
@@Gwhisky already has within a day. It’s more palatable now. Not bad but a little thin for me. I don’t regret the purchase but may not buy again

@@Gwhisky I agree. I’m fine with a premium on something incredible; but this isn’t worth it. So many other options out there.

Mac 15 is the same price as a Talisker 25? Insane.
@@Gwhisky sorry, typo, meant Mac18, the Mac18 is AU$580 vs Talisker 25 at AU$550
Ah that follows. Mac 18 prices have been absurd for a long time.
Enjoyable and drinkable..
It's a nice one! 🥃
