    I appreciate how you don't assume we are idiots and tell us "don't try this at home" or "high voltage danger, only do this if you understand about electricity safety" and so on!
    You are making a high voltage supply with a current limit set by the light bulb. I'd choose some thicker gloves, but I reckon you know more than me, and thanks for this demonstration. Inspiration for other projects :)

    You should probably use a properly isolated DC power supply. It is MUCH saver and DC current should be more effective for etching.

    Interesting idea. I wonder if you could etch a circuit board with this instead of chemicals/laser?

    • @RJ-wx3fh
      @RJ-wx3fh 2 роки тому +2

      It seems likely that the copper cladding is too thin for the current and may burn the underlying board.
      That being said, I remember my dad using a permanent marker to create the tracks for simple circuit boards on some hobby projects- etchant is quite cheap and reasonably safe/stable, ours was kept in a large ziplock bag (to easily hold larger boards with less etchant) and the baggie of etchant was put in a glass jar between uses in case the bag split or degraded

    • @blubbspinat9363
      @blubbspinat9363 6 років тому +1

      110V is rarely deadly, the dangerous element is earth/ground reference. It means that touching only one live conductor can kill you. I definitely recommend using a GFCI or RCD together with that circuit. Your chances of survival are much greater if you messed up the setup.

    Use instead a car battery, sooner or later you will electricuted your self. Don't play with main power I you don't have a clue. ☠️

    • @saint-666
      @saint-666 3 роки тому

      But DC power is more dangerous than AC. Especially in a situation like this, if he was using DC and it shorted through him, the DC current would cause his muscles to contract and grip until current is stopped. At least with AC it'll hurt but he'll be able to let go

    • @WaschyNumber1
      @WaschyNumber1 3 роки тому

      @@saint-666 that's on ac. And dc is only from about 50volts up dangerous with enough current, on a dc 12v car battery you can only burn yourself if you have totally wet hands or some kind of metal or other material that's conductive that you are holding, like a wrench and you shorten the terminals out, it heats than the metal and you get beadly burnt.
