I've owned three wah pedals over 30 years and have never been happy with my sound. I bought this pedal based 100% on this video and I am absolutely happy! Thank you.
Dumb question but compared to the other wahs you've owned/played does the bass wah used on guitar sound "normal"? (Compared to guitar wahs) because I want one for both but I don't have enough money for two good wahs
Not a dumb question! Over the sweep of pedal travel there is a narrow band where it sounds fairly close to a regular guitar wah pedal and I use it as such. But layered over that is sort of a "woosh" sound that I like to set up feedback or ambiance. It's definitely different, and it's drawn some good reviews from my band mates and others. But if you are not going for "different" then I recommend you find a regular guitar wah that fits your needs. For what it's worth, all of my previous wah pedals were made by Dunlop too. Good luck!
@@mattbehr1136 Thanks man! All I want is a nice wah to use while soloing, typically with lots of distortion, that also checks all the boxes with bass, because pedals are expensive and I don't have the funds for two pedals. I think I'll act on the bass wah eventually. I've been saving up for a nice pedal now, so it all works out!
Bass Wah for the win! I like Wah, but its always been too bright and harsh. The Bass Wah solves that. Now I need to find out how to mod my Cry Baby into a Bass Wah. Thanks
HIM rule! I wondered how they got those crazy wah tones. I figured they put some kind of dirt pedal before the wah or something like that. Thanks for this! Gonna try this if I can get my hands on a bass wah!
I use to play bass now I have a epiphone les paul. I recently found my bass wah and once again Dagan has the answer to my guitar questions. Plus I'm a huge HIM fan and did not know Linde used one. Oh also I've always loved that it's spring loaded it's just easier. Thanks Dagan 🖖
I've recently moved to Kemper stuff so I'm not sure where my wah game is heading, now I use the wahs on the Kemper but for the longest time my absolutely favourite pedal of any kind was, still is, the Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah. That is my only desert island pedal. I bought it for the auto return function but it sounds aboslutely phenomenal and I've used it on the bass setting most of the time. It's my favorutei wah sound and in this demo the Dunlop Wah sound very very similar.
My bass player lent one of these to me, and i was using it every weekend on the gig during the summer. It was the first time i was enjoying playing rhythm parts with a wah. The solos were nice to. Smoother than my real dunlop guitar crybaby, which I actually liked
I've been leaving comments everywhere on how excellent bass wahs are for at least the last year! 😃When I was searching for a wah, I really wanted one with a pre-wah fuzz, and despite how great fuzzes and wahs are together, there were surprisingly few fuzz wahs (especially in production). So I ended up trying Justin Chancellor's signature JCT95 and absolutely loved it! Two great wah modes that both sound amazing on guitar, and a "bass" fuzz that is one of the best fuzzes I've tried! I've also tried a guitar through a Fender Rumble at stores and it is one of the best clean tones I've tried and the distortion is easily in my top 10, maybe top 5. So I feel "bass" gear often makes great, perhaps some of the best, guitar gear. It's like bassists found the best gear for all types of guitars and labeled them "bass" to discourage guitarists from buying it all up! 😅
I don't have a bass wah, but I do have a helix, and this is why I prefer it. Not only can you choose from several wahs, but you can adjust the sweep, q, and overall intensity parameters quite easily. I like to set the heel position super low so it's almost inaudible on a guitar and as you sweep upwards, you get a substantial volume boost which is awesome for making the wah more vocal like. Great video, I've been trying to get my main student to try this but he's not quite understanding what I'm getting at... Yet.
I enjoy the mini bass wah too, doesn’t take much room on the board, it’s fantastic for low tuned guitars 🎸 and it gets really loud when I step on it for solos!
Haha way back when I started out I had absolutely no idea what I was doing buying effects and so my first ever bass pedals were a Danelectro chorus pedal and this wah. I made some great sounds… kinda accidentally
…just to offer a testimonial to everyone here… I am primarily a bassist, and have had this Dunlop CryBaby Bass Wah Mini (though, others, as well) for a number of years (I actually have 2 of them… one for bass, the other for my guitar board). On *rare* occasion, I fill in for some bands supporting rhythm guitar. I have used this exact Wah fir my guitar setup, and it’s *awesome*. I won’t link it here; I am not a YT content creator and don’t ’need’ the views, but if ever anyone is curious, I do have a video of a past guitar pedalboard where you’ll see this wah. As always, THANKS, Dagan, and cheers, all. \m/, 😊 ,\m/
This makes me want a Cliff Burton Wah. This seems more dynamic. I've never played a bass wah in my 32 years of playing guitar... I agree, the bass wah sounds "better."
I like my wah with a lot of switches because I find too many of the standard wahs don’t WAH. They “WA” or “WEE”. That bass wah at like 80% toe is what I go for. “WU-AW”
I got this thing and it sounds perfect for what I do with it but I don't thing there is a wah to lower the spring tension! The thing is that in some passages, I have to step to 16th notes and it's super tricky to do consistently because the spring is so strong. Anyone have a solution?
Totally stole Linde's usage of the bass wah years ago. It's fury has indeed gone completely under the radar. While recording my latest single, the engineer damn near shat himself when I put that beast on. He was like "What the fuck is that!? It's monstrous!" That and a certain 70's Fuzz I have? Oh boy, that's a mean combo. I've always had a fascination for pushing my guitar to it's absolute limits. How to make it sound as filthy and loud as humanly possible.
youve convinced me to buy those boots more than the pedal
😂👌👢
Lol
are you in the usa. with papers?

These boots are made for wah-ing
and thats just what theyll do!
Huge HIM fan and Linde makes it sound HUGE!

Damn I never thought the wah tone I've been searching for was actually a bass one. Thanks dude. 👍🤘
Oh wow you're right it's miles better! Definitely seems more finicky, but so good! Thanks for the nugget! 🙂
HIM rule! I wondered how they got those crazy wah tones. I figured they put some kind of dirt pedal before the wah or something like that. Thanks for this! Gonna try this if I can get my hands on a bass wah!
thank you! awesome! top of my "next pedal" list. if Jimi were still with us, i think he'd prefer a bass wah too!

I’m sold… never knew about this. I could listen to it and play it all day. Thanks for this!
Ok i had no idea they were spring loaded 🤯 sound pretty killer too ! you Rock!!!
Dude, I had no idea until you mentioned it and I looked again! Definitely at the top of my list of "next pedals!"
Get a morley bass wah used on reverb. It's so goddamn crazy! It has more highs and lows than a typical wah.
My bass player lent one of these to me, and i was using it every weekend on the gig during the summer. It was the first time i was enjoying playing rhythm parts with a wah. The solos were nice to. Smoother than my real dunlop guitar crybaby, which I actually liked
I just got the Cry Baby Mini Bass Wah. It sounds great with my bass, and sounds incredible with my guitar.

I thought cowboy boots were illegal over there? Dagan is a mystery, wrapped in a guitar strap, wrapped in a cowboy boot.
Finally, was looking for a different sweep 👏
I used to use a mxr m80 bass distortion pedal in my chain. It was everything and more.
Team Bass all the way! It’s like the Matrix and I just took the RED pill. Freaking amazing tones… I have to get one now! Also kick ass boots!
Thanks! Haha 🤘
Those boots are so Dagan 😂
Them be his Wah’in boots! 👢 🐍
You and me both buddy. Been listening to HIM since 2003 and got my bass Wah in 2013. I only just cracked it open a few weeks ago to mess with the dial
I enjoy the mini bass wah too, doesn’t take much room on the board, it’s fantastic for low tuned guitars 🎸 and it gets really loud when I step on it for solos!
Brent Hinds approoves
Bass wah for sure .. I've got several guitar wahs. Original , q535, and Jimi..but that bass one is the ticket.
I love that that’s probably for me
Munky from KoRn having one in his rig made me get one and man it is the best! huge part of my sound now.
It makes sense that youd want a bass one for lower tuned guitars
@@metalfan846 yah def! surprisingly I love it with my 6 string too~ great pedal.
Nice boots bro 🤣😂
Cool wah pedal.
Cheers from NZ
😎🎸🤘
Spring wha🔥🔥
I'm going to try one Dagon thanks bro?

dude u like him?? HELL YA
is different and interesting.
I dig it.
When you played a little bit of American idiot by green day, it put a good smile on my face!
I love when people ask me why its called a "Wah" pedal... So i can say "because it goes 'waaahhh-wah-wah'..." Lmao
This makes me want a Cliff Burton Wah. This seems more dynamic. I've never played a bass wah in my 32 years of playing guitar... I agree, the bass wah sounds "better."
Gear aside those are some nice boots to wha with 😀
I decide to buy this after realizing mikko Lindstrom use it on his set up pedals, and you're him fan too
I used to be into HIM didnt know about the bass wah. Do they make a regular wah with the auto on spring feature?
They do indeed! There’s tonnes of them, Dunlop make an auto Crybaby, and also check out Morley wahs 👌
Can you post your settings in the description? Soz if youve done that already but I haven’t read the description yet
Bass wah is the jam
My only problem with the bass wah is that you can’t leave it cranked open and get that cliff Burton tone
Has anyone tried one of these before a fuzz that works with buffers

Munky from KoRn also rocks a bass wah
Regular wah for funk stuff. Bass wah for rock stuff. 👍🏼

I used one in the early ‘90s With my EBMM stingray. I used it for 1 song and god only knows what happened to it.
Get dagan to the Greek
When it's in sweep mode it almost sounds like a harmonist
bbass
Not for nothing, kind of sounds like something Buckethead uses. Can anyone confirm if he uses bass wah?
Tip...don't use the bass wah like a guitar wah. The different frequencies blend with guitar better if you move the pedal slower.
there's auto return cry babies for guitar too. I also dislike the button
