It is as if all of creation, especially the angels in Heaven were singing this poignantly dramatic hymn after the Death of the Christ+ that infamous Friday evening. And as the psalm progresses, I can see the dead Christ+being lowered from the bloody Cross and grievously mourned by His weeping Mother. Then wrapped in linen and anointed by the grieving Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. And when the final cadence hits, I could see the great stone being rolled into place to seal the sepulchre.
Asperges me hyssopo, et mundabor : lavabis me, et super nivem dealbabor
Auditui meo dabis gaudium et laetitiam, et exsultabunt ossa humiliata
Averte faciem tuam a peccatis meis : et omnes iniquitates meas dele
Cor mundum crea in me, Deus : et spiritum rectum innova in visceribus meis
Ne projicias me a facie tua : et spiritum sanctum tuum ne auferas a me
Redde mihi laetitiam salutaris tui : et spiritu principali confirma me
