✅ Bobcat Toolcat vs Skid Steer vs UTV Comparison - Which is better?

  • Here I compare my findings/opinion on some key differences between these machines. I've owned a Polaris RZR 900, Bobcat S185 Skid Loader and most recently a Bobcat Toolcat 5600. I go over the specs, how much can they lift, how fast they go, driver comfort, what they are good at, etc. I reference the current Bobcat S570 specs for some of the comparison. Overall for a homeowner with mowing, snow plowing, firewood/tree clearing and general "farm" chores I find the Toolcat to excel and the key advantage over almost all other machines of similar capability is the ability to carry a passenger(s). Its basically a two seat tractor (especially the Toolcat 5610 version with rear 3-point and PTO).

    Thanks for taking the time to produce these great videos of the Toolcat. I have always been a Kubota tractor guy, however they and all others don't offer anything close to this machine. Because of your videos I made the decision in buying a new one from the local Bobcat dealer. Thanks again.

    I am trying to figure out what equipment will fit most of my needs and your videos are a HUGE help. There are very few videos on the pros and cons of the Toolcat so thank you! I'm looking for something that can mow, grade driveways, plow, fencing, and lift 2000 lb totes of waste oil. Your video states that it should be able to lift 3000 lbs but is there any chance you can make a video showing its actual lifting capabilities? If I saw that this could lift a full IBC tote I would buy one tomorrow! Thanks again for providing a great resource on the Toolcats. They are a really cool machine and deserve the attention.

      Some customers have measured the lifting force, def right at 3k lbs. I have also lifted several logs that calculate (species, dia x length) right at 3k lbs and it barely does them (picking up rear with no counter weight). I will probably do a "how much can a toolcat lift" video soon but i dont have an IBC tote to demo.

      But I'll bet money a 2009+ toolcat can lift the 2k lb waste oil IBC tote you speak of.

    Pretty solid overview of the toolcat, I’m looking for a solution that my uncle can get into easier and yet still have capabilities around the farm and in the woods. The two seat is a nice advantage. Any issues with the hydraulics? I heard some folks have problems with lines blowing.

    I chatted with a snowblower company in Northern Calif. They use the toolcat 5600 for snow blowing communities high in the CA Mountains. They claim their secret is a 1" plate steel secured to the bed of the 5600. Loosing 1" in the bed thickness means nothing to them. The hydraulics lifts it, no problem. They say they've locked in the plow market for snow blowing because the customers love the lack of mess and no snow berms. I've done a lot of plowing but no blowing. What's the definitive moment when a blower is the preferred tool?

      For me in SE Michigan we typically get 2-4in at a time. A few 6-12in storms but rarely more than that in a day. In my opinion below 6-8in is better for a plow since its faster. Above that and a blower wins. If money was no object I'd have both but since we get way more 2-4in snows the plow is the easy choice for me.

    Well after watching this video and finding out how much a tool cat costs, I think I'm going to look for a used 1,or even better just get a skid steer, now I live in Saint Joseph Michigan and so far this year we might have gotten 5 inches so far for the year and it was all wet snow, I'm not a big fan of a plow or snowblower. But I do love the Power Broom because it will clean all the way down to the ground that way I don't have to spread salt?. Now my only question is how do I get trained on the use of a skid steer. Can't find any classes in how to drive it. Or is it just trial and error????.

      they are pretty easy, a few quick tip videos and some trial and error and you will be away and running in no time.

    about hydrolique in front like know each hose use for...

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  3 роки тому +2

      The Toolcat comes with three hydraulic quick coupling up front. One is supply, one is return and the 3rd smaller one is a case drain which some attachments need. The 4th round thing you see is actually the electrical connector for attachments that have multifunction hydraulics (like snowblowers, stump grinders, etc)

    How does it compare in price to skid steer?

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  3 роки тому +2

      $60k new so similar if not more than SS. They hold their value well so used in good shape go for more than same HP skid steer.
