A tip: instead of using a plastic bag for laundry/dirty clothes, you could use a pillowcase! This could prevent the smell. It's like a portable laundry bag
I tend to throw the whole suitcase into the laundry room. Even if I didn’t use it, washing everything. The left over non clothes can go to my room to be put away.
2 more hacks (mainly for girls, sorry) that come in handy: -ALWAYS keep a little 2 pack of those disposable hand warmers with you. You never know if you're going to be stuck somewhere cold, but they are also great for if you get sudden cramps and need a heat pad. They are usually around $1 for a 2 pack, all they need is air and shaking to activate, and some can last up to 10 hours. -also, I use this trick when I run errands after going to the bank, but it can also be done on road trips or in luggage. If you keep a pouch of feminine hygiene products, hide your money behind the products in that pouch. It wont be seen, and even if someone does grab it and open it, they will most likely just see the product and will leave the pouch in your car/bag/whatever. Hopefully this helps! (Also I loved your video and your totoro luggage tag is so cute!)
Don't put your home address or phone number on your luggage tag. People scope this info out to find out where you live so while you're on vacation, they're robbing your place. Put down the info of a friend or family member and they can contact you about your lost stuff.
Because I put my cell phone number on my baggage tag, an airport person in Alicante called me when my bag had been lost for days by Lufthansa. The tracing tag had ripped off. They had no other way to contact me.
YES TO BAGS FOR LAUNDRY! I dont understand why people unpack their suitcases when they get to hotels. haha Im always living from my suitcase. I take what i need for the day and leave the rest inside haha! you give the best tips aileen! x
Also don't forget to avoid bulky clothing! You can dress in layers if it gets cold + it gives you many more choices to mix and match and a lighter suitcase
I'm a roller but I like this konmari folding so I can see all of my clothes without digging around my bag. If I'm in a hotel I can unpack and hang things, but visiting family I'll probably live out of the bag. I'll try konmari folding on my next trip!

You and I could be packing twins, because we do SO many similar things for packing. One other tip I can offer, if you do check a bag, is to include a change of clothes (including underwear) in your carry-on bag "just in case" your checked bag goes astray and it takes a little while for it to catch up to you.
finally a serious youtuber talking about traveling and packing tips, i seriously needed this. all other videos i have watched were really tiring. they kept talking nonsense and pretending to be cute and funny etc. thank you, really. thanks again for that pdf. you are awesome!
Oh God thank you! FINALLY someone who has the good sense of packing their shoes in a plastic bag! Seriously how people can do it otherwise is beyond me! Love the whole video and the tips by the way :)
You should also put a label inside your suitcase. In case your tag is lost or the bag is mistakenly taken. Your name and cell number might get your bag back faster 😊
For me, instead of organizing my coins from previous travel, i like use them up before leaving the country. So about 1 day before i leave i will pay things with coins and smaller change, that way i won't end up with a lot of coins and smaller currencies when i leave the country.
When I worked as a waitress in the city, I met a film crew and we had such a click ..when they left..they all poured their coins into my palms..which wasnt enough...about 20 pounds I think..that was nice.!! So maybe also leave big tips..XxLiah
I noticed you have some £1 coins and just wanted to let you know that the new £1 coins were released yesterday, meaning the olds one will become worthless from October 15th.
Adrianne Kingh probably not true, banks will usually take them out of circulation slowly, so when they make their way into bank's and such they dont leave again otherwise theyre essentially stealing money off people
Tahlia that's why they are giving people up to October 15 to use their old money. People can also swap their money at the bank if they don't plan on using - which works well for tourists who won't be coming back anytime soon. Similar thing happened with the new £5 note which was faded out rather quickly (I'm talking weeks) that it's now rare to see the old ones.
Ellie young Maybe. And it's has nearly been 2 weeks since the introduction of the new £1 and I think unlike the £5 note, it'll actually take longer for the new pound to takeover.
Hey! Just came across your channel. Your videos are so accurate. No drama. No useless stuff. To the point on topic. Simply loved it. Also liked your hair color transition in the videos. Support from India!
Thank you so much for these packing tips, I would have never thought to separate things into different pouches, but that makes things a lot more organized and make it easier to get to! This will be my first time traveling- I'll be going to Portugal, and I'm super excited! :D
5 years ago my dad started his bucket list item number 10 the last one and it was go to every baseball stadium in the us and he brought me along and I've been to new York once and going again in 1 day😆😆 and California 4 times and I forgot how I packed last time but I found the vide and remembered your voice and watched it thanks so much -Jeb from alt Georgia
your winter packing tips helped me a lot during my Tokyo trip last week. I didnt bring a carry on only because I got 23kg free baggage allowance, but I did trim down the amount of clothes I brought and used a smaller trunk (24in) with just 9kg of baggage, which made my trip to and from the hotel A LOT easier.
😂😂😂 my boyfriend and I are going to Florida and he just booked our flights last night and said "woo hoo 57 days!" And I'm like I HAVE TO START PACKING 😂😂
Hi Aileen :) I've been watching your (contentwise and aesthetically) amazing videos for a while now, you got me into self care, minimalism/konmari and basically getting rid of most of my stuff and loving what's left much more so thank you for all of that! This year I made a resolution to reduce waste and plastic in my life. It has been a lot of fun, very rewarding and actually much easier than always having to rebuy disposable items. So if I may make some suggestions for your travel essentials, I would use a stainless steel water bottle (they are super lightweight, keep the water cool and it also tastes much better than from a plastic bottle) and exchange the plastic bags for ones made out of organic material. There are many great foldable and washable ones. And the last thing I can think of right now is bamboo toothbrushes. This is what actually triggered my vow to try and kick all plastic out of my life (without becoming a total hippie/cavewoman..) I was so shocked when I read that every plastic toothbrush ever made still exists, I really didn't want to contribute to that anymore. Especially if there's so many easy alternatives. Ok that was a lot, maybe you found it interesting.. I'm looking forward to your next video and wish you a great time travelling. Lots of love from Berlin!
A few things I bring that are suprisingly handy that nobody talks about for traveling is the stasher bag (snacks and water proofing your phone for the beach, also as a cool compress or heat pad) Hero clip (also small and incredibly multi use, worth the price, binder clips to use as laundry clips, holding a snack bag shut, or blinds or a wardrobe malfunction. also to use as a towel clip for beach chairs (I use the med/big sized ones), TSA approved travel padlock (wire one) a lot of uses for that as well. Niteize mini s biners with locks (can use these for pool lockers to adhere the key to your swim suit and not have to worry about it. Also useful for "locking" the zippers of your small purse while out on the town to make it more difficult for would-be pickpocketers so they pick a different target. I use a be quick from jujube as a packing cube for my underthings that comes with a strap so when I get to my destination I can use it as a small crossbody also use a jujube be light as a larger packing cube that is my larger tote or beach bag at my destination. I use a microfiber towel for my beach towel and a cotton Turkish shower towel which is thin enough to double as a beach cover/sarong I bring 1 ea. So I don't get sandy if I use the other one outdoors on the sand. Extra wide headband for its regular purpose or a eye mask to keep light out if I want to take a nap, can also get it wet to help keep the back of your neck cool Christmas decoration suction cup to hang my soap pouch on the side of the shower out of the water to dry. A few ultra light dry bags instead of packing cubes I use like stuff sacks for a water destination. I am obsessed with the matador soap pouches. Toothpaste tabs and powdered dry shampoo are the bomb. And there's more but I hope this helped somebody!
I just got back from spring break, I wish I had watched this before then hahah my suitcase was a disaster! I love how organized you are, it's definitely something I'm working toward.
This video comes out perfectly in time for me! Thanks Aileen! I'm going back to Belgium on saturday and have so much to pack I don't know how I'm gonna do this! Totally had forgotten about wearing your biggest clothing items while traveling, it's gonna be so helpful!!
Actually I'm going back home but thank youuuu! :D (I'm the one who went to the uk to meet someone I fell in love with, don't know if you remember ^^ but I'm bringing him to Belgium now! :D)
Thank you so much! I am going to America in about a week and I never figured out how to pack for a week. I tested it just now and it works perfectly! I am so happy!
These are actually super great tips! I'm going to Europe next month and have been binge-watching these kind of videos for ages, but yours has a lot of ideas that I've not heard of!
I recommend not putting your sunglasses or breakable items (mirror) in your carry on suitcase but rather in your backpack. If your carry on falls the items may break ALL over your clothes. Also, you may have to check your bag in because there's no overhead space, and if you pack those items they will get smashed by other suitcases as they toss them in the airplane!! Also, pack your liquids in the bottom of your suitcase and in the event that they spill, your liquids won't spill from the top of your carry on to the bottom but the mess will stay on the bottom. Also, pack a set of reusable utensils if you have them so that you avoid single use items that will go to the landfill!
I think if I put them in my backpack they would get squished even more! because things move around lol. Also I think glasses cases are so bulky! I'll use a cloth bag when I keep them in my bag, still I don't love carrying glasses around
PERFECT timing for that video 😍 i go on my first vacation without a big suitcase soon!!! sooo happy you did this video, so helpful 😍 i feel well prepared for my first carry-on trip ❤
Wow I've never tried the vertical folding method, I normally use the rolling method like I showed in my vid. Have you tried that method before? ps I am a pouch girl too! lol 🔆🔆🔆
a tip i do is that instead of packing foundation i pack concealer in my skin tone(not lighter as we usually buy concealer) because its cheaper plus it is more high coverage and also most concealers come in plastic containers so im not affraid of my glass foundation container breaking
I love how being a kid, it gives me an advantage in packing. My clothes aren’t as bulky, and my accessories are smaller. 👍🏻 and being a girl… I haven’t gotten… that.. yet so yeah there’s a few items which I don’t need because I haven’t hit puberty yet 👍🏻
i love watching packing tips, how to pack a carry on video. It's kind of like whats is my bag videos lol. I do mostly everything you do except all the pouches and vertically stacking. Never thought of that and I don't think i've seen that in any other video, that was something new I learned. Thank you!!! Will have to try that out next time I fly out! Thanks for sharing 😃😃

Erica Lim when you pack carry on only you have to make sacrifices. That usually means not much shopping. I only buy things that will fit in my personal bag. It's good though because I always buy random crap on holidays and then never use/wear it. This way I'll only buy a key ring or a magnet or something small.
Erica Lim I've heard of people packing an extra foldable bag in the lining of their suitcase so if they need an another bag they can use it as an extra carry on or if necessary check the carry on and bring the other 2 bags as their 2 carry ons
Erica Lim Pack things you can easily dispose of. For example, take some old shoes/clothes with you that you won't mind leaving behind or putting in the bin, or buy cheap clothes/shoes and put them in the bin or donate them. That way you'll have room for anything you buy.
Erica Lim don't pack to the brim. If your suitcase barely fits on the way there, it won't on the way back. However you can put a foldable bag in the lining of your suitcase so you can fit more stuff
I can relate! Thanks so much for this video! I remember my last travel I lost my Nomad Lane bento bag and I'm glad someone from the airport reported when found. It's really a good idea to put your name and number on your bags.
I use the grocery store reusable bag as my cloths hamper. Also look for the washing machine at the hotel. Most have them. Do the laundry before going home. Quick unpack.
Another tip bring some downy sheets and you can insert that in your dirty laundry and buy some shower caps at 99 cents or dollar stores and put them on your shoes. Due to pandemic bring like 2 boxes of Antigen test kits, cold and flu meds and Cephacol. I am getting better traveling lights, I am still working on buying the best comfortable sandal, shoes and canvas.
You can also find calapsable water bottle on Amazon, I've got one and its great for folding up when your not using it plus I can put it in the dishwasher☺
Is it just me or when they tell me we are going somewhere in like 3 months I start getting excited and make a list of what ima take. Thumbs up if your like me
the way i pack my clothes is i roll up an entire outfit and secure it with a hair tie so that in the morning i can just grab a roll and head to the bathroom to get ready. i pack a roll for each day and divide the days up by two and pack that many pajama rolls. i pack an extra roll in case i get my clothes wet or something happens. it also saves time and space by your outfit already being picked out and there are no extra clothes. i plan my outfit on the weather and usually label them for each day. i always bring extra sweatpants and sweatshirt in case it gets cold. i pack shoes for rain, exercise, and sun/swimming. i have a pouch for hair and toiletries. i keep all my electronic accessories in my backpack that is my carry on on the plane.

WOAH! Smartest thing ever!!!!! Easy on mother earth too!
all you need to do is like spray your "pillow" with like perfume or something and it will smell good
if the clothes are smelly or dirty they will contaminate other clothes in a pillowcase. Buy a few dry bags and use one for laundry.
Is it weird that i use rubbish bags then throw it afterwards😶
I usually just use a waterproof bag
The real problem is.. Repacking when going home..
yes, packing and unpacking is a time-consuming chore.
yes it is
@@dawngaither3757 , any tips to pack smarter?
Misk Wattad for some reason it’s like there’s more stuff going home 😂

Am I the only one who doesn’t own any “pouches” but uses Ziplock bags for everything instead?!
That’s such a waste of ziploc bags😭
Same I do too
Don't put your home address or phone number on your luggage tag. People scope this info out to find out where you live so while you're on vacation, they're robbing your place. Put down the info of a friend or family member and they can contact you about your lost stuff.
Heidi Thomas gosh I never heard of this but good tip! good thing I have a PO box address anyway
Heidi Thomas I have used my work address before
The best is to put down your arrival adress as that's where you'll want your luggage sent if you lose it!
Elina Gibert that's what I do!
I take what i need for the day and leave the rest inside haha!
you give the best tips aileen! x
Doesn't everything get creased?
Glasses without case?) you like to risk, don't you?😂
hahaha i do :P they are cheap glasses and i am lazy
HAHA I KNOW RIGHT! When i saw i was like oh my!! but i assumed they weren't super expensive.
Ola Petrova I was thinking the same :P
Ola Petrova she risked it for the biscuit 😂
I almost had a heartattack when I saw that lol im like NOOOOOOO theyre not readyyyyyyyy
In 2020, "bringing a facemask" has a whole different meaning...
😂😂 I know right
😂 lol! IKR
Whenever I hear the word face mask for the rest of my life, I’m gonna get 2020 flashbacks lol
I was thinking the same thing hahaah
Honestly yeah, PEOPLE LITERALLY HAVE BUTT MASKS!
Also don't forget to avoid bulky clothing! You can dress in layers if it gets cold + it gives you many more choices to mix and match and a lighter suitcase
I feel like you're the only one that give different tips about travel!! I'm glad I've find it before I travel 😭

Anthony Pavlovsky 😂😂
I do this all the time! 😂😂😂
Yet to be held by airport police for a possible bomb threat though. 😂😂😂
not for white people though they get the benefit of the doubt
Lol😂😂
Not prudent either, remove all for security check and then lose something while forgetting to pick up.
PERFECT timing for that video 😍 i go on my first vacation without a big suitcase soon!!! sooo happy you did this video, so helpful 😍 i feel well prepared for my first carry-on trip ❤
yay!! have fun, enjoy your trip!!
I’m going to go on a 7 hour flight and it’s my first flight and this has made me feel so much better thanks!😃👍
Wow I've never tried the vertical folding method, I normally use the rolling method like I showed in my vid. Have you tried that method before?
ps I am a pouch girl too! lol 🔆🔆🔆
I like leaving a bit of different places for souvenirs 😃
Of all the packing videos, yours are my favorite. So i was really happy when you uploaded a new one. Perfect for my upcoming trip. Thank You!
yay!
Literally do everything you do in this video and it makes packing and traveling so much easier! ❤️ Love your videos!!
a tip i do is that instead of packing foundation i pack concealer in my skin tone(not lighter as we usually buy concealer) because its cheaper plus it is more high coverage and also most concealers come in plastic containers so im not affraid of my glass foundation container breaking
Thanks for sharing 😃😃
soo much helpful

Omg you said you were going to Amsterdam that's in my country for some reason I'm whay to proud that you are going there🤣
Lavendaire lol newsflash
Love the vid! Gave me sooo many tips. I would say. If you have small underwear, fold them in then tie them, saves you so much space x
How do you pack the stuffs you've bought oversea back to home if you've your suitcase packed to the brim?
Erica Lim when you pack carry on only you have to make sacrifices. That usually means not much shopping. I only buy things that will fit in my personal bag. It's good though because I always buy random crap on holidays and then never use/wear it. This way I'll only buy a key ring or a magnet or something small.
I see. Thanks!!
I LOVE your videos! Ur chilled and organized personality... I also like how u don't drag through the intro
She is very organised when she is packing and she takes her time🌺👍🏻😊
When I pack:
‘ grabs random cloths and throws them in suitcase’ 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Love Dance lol same 😂
I can relate! Thanks so much for this video! I remember my last travel I lost my Nomad Lane bento bag and I'm glad someone from the airport reported when found. It's really a good idea to put your name and number on your bags.
your backpack is soooo pretty and I love it so much!!! it's pretty sad that I can't find it anywhere else since your mom bought it from Japan :(
I use the grocery store reusable bag as my cloths hamper. Also look for the washing machine at the hotel. Most have them. Do the laundry before going home. Quick unpack.
Darn, wish I had some of these tips before I packed and left.
Wow I feel proud of my organized-self because all the tips you mentioned I do them already 😂😍
nice!
yes the tooth bush cover is nice but travel tooth brushes are smaller.
I always bring a bottle of water because buy mineral water at the airport is very expensive!
yup!
roronoa aman Unfortunately in the USA all liquids brought onto the plane must be under 3 oz. You can bring an empty water bottle though.
Goldilocks not just USA
roronoa aman yes u can’t take bottles water on the plane before u check in here in the USA U can purchase after u get thru security
You can also find calapsable water bottle on Amazon, I've got one and its great for folding up when your not using it plus I can put it in the dishwasher☺
The feng shui of packing ! ❤️🤩
Omg I LOVE that backpack!! I’ve been so into backpacks lately and have always been a huge purse/tote bag person :)
My Goodness, I have been traveling so long, I never thought of vertical packing! Brilliant! Thank you!
Is it just me or when they tell me we are going somewhere in like 3 months I start getting excited and make a list of what ima take. Thumbs up if your like me
Guadalupe Rosa me! I have 6 months until my trip (I think) and I’m am HYPED!!
2 months till my trip and I’ve already started on my list, I’ll probably get the luggage out soon 😂
you're such an angel, don't let anyone be mean to u :(
It's the first time for me travelling alone and those tips are very useful for me, thanks a lot!!
the way i pack my clothes is i roll up an entire outfit and secure it with a hair tie so that in the morning i can just grab a roll and head to the bathroom to get ready. i pack a roll for each day and divide the days up by two and pack that many pajama rolls. i pack an extra roll in case i get my clothes wet or something happens. it also saves time and space by your outfit already being picked out and there are no extra clothes. i plan my outfit on the weather and usually label them for each day. i always bring extra sweatpants and sweatshirt in case it gets cold. i pack shoes for rain, exercise, and sun/swimming. i have a pouch for hair and toiletries. i keep all my electronic accessories in my backpack that is my carry on on the plane.
You and I pack the same way!!!
This is the BEST packing checklist ever I couldn’t find a better one

Nice hacks. But I think that also rolling your clothes helps save space for your heavier/bigger items. ❤👍
