I tend to throw the whole suitcase into the laundry room. Even if I didn’t use it, washing everything. The left over non clothes can go to my room to be put away.
A tip: instead of using a plastic bag for laundry/dirty clothes, you could use a pillowcase! This could prevent the smell. It's like a portable laundry bag
😂😂😂 my boyfriend and I are going to Florida and he just booked our flights last night and said "woo hoo 57 days!" And I'm like I HAVE TO START PACKING 😂😂
I'm a roller but I like this konmari folding so I can see all of my clothes without digging around my bag. If I'm in a hotel I can unpack and hang things, but visiting family I'll probably live out of the bag. I'll try konmari folding on my next trip!
Don't put your home address or phone number on your luggage tag. People scope this info out to find out where you live so while you're on vacation, they're robbing your place. Put down the info of a friend or family member and they can contact you about your lost stuff.
Because I put my cell phone number on my baggage tag, an airport person in Alicante called me when my bag had been lost for days by Lufthansa. The tracing tag had ripped off. They had no other way to contact me.
Oh God thank you! FINALLY someone who has the good sense of packing their shoes in a plastic bag! Seriously how people can do it otherwise is beyond me! Love the whole video and the tips by the way :)
YES TO BAGS FOR LAUNDRY! I dont understand why people unpack their suitcases when they get to hotels. haha Im always living from my suitcase. I take what i need for the day and leave the rest inside haha! you give the best tips aileen! x
2 more hacks (mainly for girls, sorry) that come in handy: -ALWAYS keep a little 2 pack of those disposable hand warmers with you. You never know if you're going to be stuck somewhere cold, but they are also great for if you get sudden cramps and need a heat pad. They are usually around $1 for a 2 pack, all they need is air and shaking to activate, and some can last up to 10 hours. -also, I use this trick when I run errands after going to the bank, but it can also be done on road trips or in luggage. If you keep a pouch of feminine hygiene products, hide your money behind the products in that pouch. I noticed you have some £1 coins and just wanted to let you know that the new £1 coins were released yesterday, meaning the olds one will become worthless from October 15th.
Adrianne Kingh probably not true, banks will usually take them out of circulation slowly, so when they make their way into bank's and such they dont leave again otherwise theyre essentially stealing money off people
Tahlia that's why they are giving people up to October 15 to use their old money. People can also swap their money at the bank if they don't plan on using - which works well for tourists who won't be coming back anytime soon. Similar thing happened with the new £5 note which was faded out rather quickly (I'm talking weeks) that it's now rare to see the old ones.
Ellie young Maybe. And it's has nearly been 2 weeks since the introduction of the new £1 and I think unlike the £5 note, it'll actually take longer for the new pound to takeover.
Thank you so much for these packing tips, I would have never thought to separate things into different pouches, but that makes things a lot more organized and make it easier to get to! This will be my first time traveling- I'll be going to Portugal, and I'm super excited! :D
A few things I bring that are suprisingly handy that nobody talks about for traveling is the stasher bag (snacks and water proofing your phone for the beach, also as a cool compress or heat pad) Hero clip (also small and incredibly multi use, worth the price, binder clips to use as laundry clips, holding a snack bag shut, or blinds or a wardrobe malfunction. also to use as a towel clip for beach chairs (I use the med/big sized ones), TSA approved travel padlock (wire one) a lot of uses for that as well. Niteize mini s biners with locks (can use these for pool lockers to adhere the key to your swim suit and not have to worry about it. Also useful for "locking" the zippers of your small purse while out on the town to make it more difficult for would-be pickpocketers so they pick a different target. I use a be quick from jujube as a packing cube for my underthings that comes with a strap so when I get to my destination I can use it as a small crossbody also use a jujube be light as a larger packing cube that is my larger tote or beach bag at my destination. I use a microfiber towel for my beach towel and a cotton Turkish shower towel which is thin enough to double as a beach cover/sarong I bring 1 ea. So I don't get sandy if I use the other one outdoors on the sand. Extra wide headband for its regular purpose or a eye mask to keep light out if I want to take a nap, can also get it wet to help keep the back of your neck cool Christmas decoration suction cup to hang my soap pouch on the side of the shower out of the water to dry. A few ultra light dry bags instead of packing cubes I use like stuff sacks for a water destination. I am obsessed with the matador soap pouches. Toothpaste tabs and powdered dry shampoo are the bomb. And there's more but I hope this helped somebody!
Also don't forget to avoid bulky clothing! You can dress in layers if it gets cold + it gives you many more choices to mix and match and a lighter suitcase
Hi Aileen :) I've been watching your (contentwise and aesthetically) amazing videos for a while now, you got me into self care, minimalism/konmari and basically getting rid of most of my stuff and loving what's left much more so thank you for all of that! This year I made a resolution to reduce waste and plastic in my life. It has been a lot of fun, very rewarding and actually much easier than always having to rebuy disposable items. So if I may make some suggestions for your travel essentials, I would use a stainless steel water bottle (they are super lightweight, keep the water cool and it also tastes much better than from a plastic bottle) and exchange the plastic bags for ones made out of organic material. There are many great foldable and washable ones. And the last thing I can think of right now is bamboo toothbrushes. This is what actually triggered my vow to try and kick all plastic out of my life (without becoming a total hippie/cavewoman..) I was so shocked when I read that every plastic toothbrush ever made still exists, I really didn't want to contribute to that anymore. Especially if there's so many easy alternatives. Ok that was a lot, maybe you found it interesting.. I'm looking forward to your next video and wish you a great time travelling. Lots of love from Berlin!
You should also put a label inside your suitcase. In case your tag is lost or the bag is mistakenly taken. Your name and cell number might get your bag back faster 😊
For me, instead of organizing my coins from previous travel, i like use them up before leaving the country. So about 1 day before i leave i will pay things with coins and smaller change, that way i won't end up with a lot of coins and smaller currencies when i leave the country.
When I worked as a waitress in the city, I met a film crew and we had such a click ..when they left..they all poured their coins into my palms..which wasnt enough...about 20 pounds I think..that was nice.!! So maybe also leave big tips..XxLiah
Wow I've never tried the vertical folding method, I normally use the rolling method like I showed in my vid. Have you tried that method before? ps I am a pouch girl too! lol 🔆🔆🔆
I use the grocery store reusable bag as my cloths hamper. Also look for the washing machine at the hotel. Most have them. Do the laundry before going home. Quick unpack.
Omg haven’t you all learned by now folding (even vertically) is a newb thing ROLL YOUR CLOTHES it save even MORE space than vertically folding them seriously guys I’m trying to help you TAKE MY ADVICE it’s a game changer😍😍
You and I could be packing twins, because we do SO many similar things for packing. One other tip I can offer, if you do check a bag, is to include a change of clothes (including underwear) in your carry-on bag "just in case" your checked bag goes astray and it takes a little while for it to catch up to you.
You can also find calapsable water bottle on Amazon, I've got one and its great for folding up when your not using it plus I can put it in the dishwasher☺
Los mejores y más cordiales Saludos desde puente piedra, lima, Perú, ojalá que puedas venir en algún momento a mi país y que disfrutes mucho de todo por aquí, con la familia y los amigos, felicidades por tus vídeos...
Your packing videos are so great! Especially the part about using pouches - I recently bought some packing cubes and they've changed my life forever :D
A Brita or Lifestraw reusable water bottle with a filter is great. It filters water from airport water fountains, air line drinks, and tap water in your hotel room.
I recommend not putting your sunglasses or breakable items (mirror) in your carry on suitcase but rather in your backpack. If your carry on falls the items may break ALL over your clothes. Also, you may have to check your bag in because there's no overhead space, and if you pack those items they will get smashed by other suitcases as they toss them in the airplane!! Also, pack your liquids in the bottom of your suitcase and in the event that they spill, your liquids won't spill from the top of your carry on to the bottom but the mess will stay on the bottom. Also, pack a set of reusable utensils if you have them so that you avoid single use items that will go to the landfill!
I think if I put them in my backpack they would get squished even more! because things move around lol. Also I think glasses cases are so bulky! I'll use a cloth bag when I keep them in my bag, still I don't love carrying glasses around

Tip: if you’re flying alone, try to pick the middle seat because if someone is flying with one companion they would probably want to sit together, so it’s less likely that someone would be sitting next to you, and if the plane has taken off and no one is sitting next to you, the flight attendants won’t care if you move to the aisle or window seat and put your stuff on the middle.
Erica Lim when you pack carry on only you have to make sacrifices. That usually means not much shopping. I only buy things that will fit in my personal bag. It's good though because I always buy random crap on holidays and then never use/wear it. This way I'll only buy a key ring or a magnet or something small.
Erica Lim I've heard of people packing an extra foldable bag in the lining of their suitcase so if they need an another bag they can use it as an extra carry on or if necessary check the carry on and bring the other 2 bags as their 2 carry ons
Erica Lim Pack things you can easily dispose of. For example, take some old shoes/clothes with you that you won't mind leaving behind or putting in the bin, or buy cheap clothes/shoes and put them in the bin or donate them. That way you'll have room for anything you buy.
Erica Lim don't pack to the brim. If your suitcase barely fits on the way there, it won't on the way back. However you can put a foldable bag in the lining of your suitcase so you can fit more stuff
Lovely! Most of the stuff you said really make sense. I cringe when I see other people’s videos of packing tips but they put their shoes with the rest of their clean clothes. 😂 Well done on the triangular way of folding the plastic bags. 😉
Is it just me or when they tell me we are going somewhere in like 3 months I start getting excited and make a list of what ima take. Thumbs up if your like me
We are going on our first trip out side of Canada.Very helpful tips with the empty water bottle. My son likes water and will ask at odd times . I didn't plan to spend money for water that we get free. I like the folding tip that is very useful as you tend to unpack everything just to find that one top. Keep it organized with pouches is another great tip. My son may pull everything out and this will make it easy for him to put things back ( keep it tidy) I plan to make mess bags for him. He like extra underwear. Love the idea for its own pouch. Do you have a video in what cloths to pack for 7 days in the Caribbean? Your video light is great on the eyes and the sound is perfect .I liked the art in the background. But at times it took me off you. ( just a though) you are great to look at .
I love how being a kid, it gives me an advantage in packing. My clothes aren’t as bulky, and my accessories are smaller. 👍🏻 and being a girl… I haven’t gotten… that.. yet so yeah there’s a few items which I don’t need because I haven’t hit puberty yet 👍🏻
@@lifemyway200 It depends a lot on the airlines. A lot of North American carriers let you go on with a carry on (up to 22"") AND a personal item like a purse (or small enough bag to fit under seat). Some airlines will only allow ONE bag with a pretty strict weight restriction. I wish I realized this when I bought a 22" carry-on backpack that I should have bought one that was a bit smaller to compensate for the weight. One low fare airline in Europe made me stuff my purse into my carry-on bag because I was only allowed that one bag. So from then on I research every airline I know I'll be flying on to make sure my bags are acceptable. Mind you, it also depends on if you get a cranky employee that's a stickler for everything. ☺
This video comes out perfectly in time for me! Thanks Aileen! I'm going back to Belgium on saturday and have so much to pack I don't know how I'm gonna do this! Totally had forgotten about wearing your biggest clothing items while traveling, it's gonna be so helpful!!
Actually I'm going back home but thank youuuu! :D (I'm the one who went to the uk to meet someone I fell in love with, don't know if you remember ^^ but I'm bringing him to Belgium now! :D)

The real problem is.. Repacking when going home..
yes, packing and unpacking is a time-consuming chore.
yes it is
@@dawngaither3757 , any tips to pack smarter?
Misk Wattad for some reason it’s like there’s more stuff going home 😂

A tip: instead of using a plastic bag for laundry/dirty clothes, you could use a pillowcase! This could prevent the smell. It's like a portable laundry bag
WOAH! Smartest thing ever!!!!! Easy on mother earth too!
all you need to do is like spray your "pillow" with like perfume or something and it will smell good
if the clothes are smelly or dirty they will contaminate other clothes in a pillowcase. Buy a few dry bags and use one for laundry.
Is it weird that i use rubbish bags then throw it afterwards😶
I usually just use a waterproof bag
In 2020, "bringing a facemask" has a whole different meaning...
😂😂 I know right
😂 lol! IKR
Whenever I hear the word face mask for the rest of my life, I’m gonna get 2020 flashbacks lol
I was thinking the same thing hahaah
Honestly yeah, PEOPLE LITERALLY HAVE BUTT MASKS!
Am I the only one who doesn’t own any “pouches” but uses Ziplock bags for everything instead?!
That’s such a waste of ziploc bags😭
Same I do too
Glasses without case?) you like to risk, don't you?😂
hahaha i do :P they are cheap glasses and i am lazy
HAHA I KNOW RIGHT! When i saw i was like oh my!! but i assumed they weren't super expensive.
Ola Petrova I was thinking the same :P

2 more hacks (mainly for girls, sorry) that come in handy:
-ALWAYS keep a little 2 pack of those disposable hand warmers with you.
It wont be seen, and even if someone does grab it and open it, they will most likely just see the product and will leave the pouch in your car/bag/whatever.

It's good though because I always buy random crap on holidays and then never use/wear it. This way I'll only buy a key ring or a magnet or something small.
I see. Thanks!!
Who else is watching but won’t go on a flight
👇🏻
Love it!!! Specially that you packed your shoes in a bag!!! I don't understand people that doesn't do that, shoes are dirty right? Great tips!!!
She is very organised when she is packing and she takes her time🌺👍🏻😊
When I pack:
‘ grabs random cloths and throws them in suitcase’ 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I’m gonna be traveling for the first time with my friends to South Korea instead of going on a senior trip...This was really helpful 🙏🏻 thanks

Finally some REAL tips and not the same be over and over again. Didn’t think about the pick pockets for a carry on, thank you!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll be traveling to Europe this spring and these are really helpful! Love your videos! All the best!

Ok anyone else ab to go on a trip and your already totally packed but still browsing UA-cam and Pinterest for packing hacks for no reason???????
Yup😌
is it jusy me or i watch these types of videos MONTHS. before i go on holiday and i forgot and start watching them ahain
I like leaving a bit of different places for souvenirs 😃
Grate video! Thanks for posting! I love the suitcase with the two compartments + netted pocket area. Feels like it can hold a lot.
I've never been allowed to use both a bag and a suitcase as a carry on :')
Well the suitcase as carry on has to be within regulation carry on size. So you can't just take a large suitcase as a carry on:)
i'm going to prague next week and i haven't packed yet ahh!! super excited!
Of all the travel hacks & tips that I've watched...yours by far is the most informative & practical😊

Have you invested in a water bottle yet? So you don't have to use plastic and keep recycling? :) I always need to have it with me for travelling too!
