Avoir envie in French

How to say to want, to desire, to feel like, to have a craving in French, the expression is avoir envie de, the preposition de is important to understand.
J'ai envie de fromage, J'ai envie de vomir.
Expression Faire Envie: to tempt

ah! i was putting "de" in the wrong spot. it comes after "envie". but you wouldn't say "...le livre que tu avais envie de". and like you said, you need the "de". so you instead you stick it in before the "tu avais..." but it's contracted to "dont".
