We had no idea there was such a large population of Serbians in Chicago, but you learn something new every day. All those dessert choices looked divine and we would have been in heaven. We always enjoy going to different ethnic markets.
I know. No we to do more research on other big communities here in the city. Visiting the ethnic market is always a great place to start. We enjoy it too.
Love hearing about the store. This deli looks like a few spots I used to go to in Brooklyn. That mini croissant with cheese looked amazing!

There's a couple Serbian places down the street from me. My friend always asks me about the food there. I'll be making a video on my channel too review it. A lot of their dishes contain burger(ground beef), right?

Yes, we'll need to try the cookies by itself. We remembered you mentioning that when we were trying the cake. It was ridiculously good.
Plazma with warm milk is how we eat it since childhood I guess it's acquired taste but for me it's equivalent to yours PBJ sandwich , classic.

We had the hardest time trying to figure out what to feature! Luckily, these guys were supper helpful and we finally settled for the mixed grill.
Really cool you met with one of the workers to give you a tour and explanation. She’s a good sales person. Deep Fried fat sounds good. A really cool shop. I need some smoked meats - would be so good with 🍚.

OMG! One of us is from Chicago and we love to see all different types of cuisine that there is! Never had Serbian food, but now we can't to check it out and recommend it to everyone!! All of the food looks so tasty though! Great idea to make it a picnic out of it! Also love that Sandy's is a grocery store too! It feels more authentic that way too! Shokata flavor is what!?!? Also you have few more Serbian (Balkan) food stores in Chicago so you don't have to go all the way to Jefferson park if it's not near you.
There are City fresh store on Devon/Kedzi, Beograd cafe and store on Irving park/ Francisco (I think), Kiko's restaurant on Lincoln/Carmen, Zupa restaurant and store in Lyons IL ...and many other places with Serbian and Bosnian cousine which are very similar, all are part of Balkan cousine.

I do enjoy your little hunts for authentic ethnic foods. I come into Chicago from Rockford every couple of weeks, so I will definitely put that on my list of places to stop. If you enjoyed what you had today, you might like a restaurant called Cafe Beograd. I had an excellent meal with friends and they have a little connected grocery store you can take some good desserts home. I also went to a restaurant called Shokolad based on a Check Please recommendation, and that was amazing as well as an inexpensive. I am glad to have all these great Eastern European restaurants, delis, bakeries, and grocery stores so close as I will unlikely be able to travel to Europe ever. One other fun thing to do, if you ever go into Gene's Sausage Shop near Lincoln and Lawrence, they usually have a rooftop beer garden open at this time of year. I hope Covid didn't put the kibosh on that.
