Over two decades of driving and I have never hung any of them up in the snow, and there are three reasons for that: 1) My vehicles were properly maintained and mechanically sound. 2) I took manual control of the transmission and keep it locked in the middle gear. This helped prevent wheel spin and also prevents having to use the brake as often. 3) If the thought of driving in a certain storm put me on edge, I didn’t drive unless it was absolutely necessary.
I just got my first car and it snowed up in the mountains so I decided to go drive through to get some experience and In certain points the road was frozen solid, it was pretty fun and surprisingly easy to keep control, I only panicked when I turned around and had to make it up a hill that was half frozen but my Jetta made it up no problem

Reason on November 1st, I always put my winter tires on, a shovel, two bags of sand (for weight and extra traction so I can spread it in case of) and a set of kleets
I am impressed and also a bit sad to see the stupidity. It seems like most cars in this video is using summer tires, or at best, friction tires of poor quality. I drove with summer tires for 250 km due to a weather surprise in Sweden a month or two back. It was a horrible experience, really horrendous. We are always using the winter tires, often with studs from november/december to late, mars/april - even in the south of Sweden. The northern part is likely to use them longer. Love winter tires with studs. AWD and good tires makes all the conditions showed in this video a complete piece of cake. Suggestion: Invest in good tires as some of these videos show crashes for 1000ths of dollars..
As a Canadian, I simply can't fathom how this happens each year (the drivers), because I know snow happens each year. If I ad a car, it would have roll up sand channels and chains in addition to a shovel. Cars often get into tricky spots, but I prefer to be able to get out of them too.
8mm snow chains would do nicely for most of this. Running basic bog standard tyres in these conditions they're bound to struggle! Gotta be worth it using chains to keep you moving in the 'worse affected areas'. Get a grip guys!
Studded winter tires will do just fine. I've driven in conditions like these for 34 years and I've never had any problems to speak of. Winter tires without studs would also be just fine, as long as it isn't "all season". I'm a truckdriver by trade and on those there are no studs.
When I first got married, we only had one car, so I left it for the Wife, and I rode my 175 Yamaha duel sport back and forth to work. This was in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and it snowed a lot there. I got pretty good at riding on ice covered roads. I had to watch out for the idiots though. I had an ace up my sleeve though, because I was so maneuverable. I have been known to move over to the sidewalk to get out of the way of a sliding idiot. I was 19 years old, and bullet proof, like most 19 year olds. I have always loved driving on stick roads, and I now live in Idaho, and we get our share of snow covered roads. I still, to this day, enjoy driving on slick roads, and I am now 75 years old. I'm so glad that I live in a part of texas that only gets that hellish white stuff one week out of the year... omgggg. We get plenty of warning, shelves become bare from Walmart-711-liquor stores and we just set up shop at home for the week.
Tire chains. We used em at Dish here in PA. Never got stuck, slid or got into trouble. Loved em.
They are good if you don’t have winter tires. Winter tires and you can just drive normally outside of longer braking distance.
Being from Michigan, it’s astounding how many people think it’s a good idea to go out when it’s an absolute blizzard out knowing the risks, ESPECIALLY in sedans thinking they’ll do just fine 😅
what can I say man, some people just REALLY need their Dunkin Fix in the morning :D
Winter tip here !!
Find a rubber tire with deep groves. Not a banana peel.
That Toyota with the snow in the bed looks like it’s about to break in half 🤣
He did a good job
Can't believe how well I've done in winter with a fwd. Never really had these issues.
that's because whatever brand tires your buying have a lot of bite in the snow in winter simple just stick with em no matter what if they work don't try something else as you might end up with these kinds of issues in winter starting up with a different type of tire on your car in winter
Winter snow tires on a front wheel drive car will simply amaze you. They go pretty damn well.
because you and your engine are at the front, once you get moving try not stop
im doing fwd right now and slicks in the rain and a stop sign out of my block got me to understand engine break
That caprice with the posi-trac.
Everybody calling it an impala is whack no f s given
@@imjustryn2eat2 actually it is an impala I can see the badge. I mean they are the same dang car. I think the caprice had the half wheel wells in the back.
@@uberdang830 if you mean at the beginning/in the thumbnail, No, it's a Caprice. Impala was not available in that color. The Caprice had those half wheel wells only for '91/'92.

People really think summer tyres are a solid option in the winter lol
@@adamspeck1546 Yep, i would much rather drive a 2wd car with proper tyres over any AWD/4WD car with summer tyres on.
Winter tyres are only a few hundred euros and can last for a few years, small price compared to potential damages/towing costs :)
You guys should come to Finland and learn how to drive on snow and ice. Finland is a nordic country and i have never seen slipping and sliding like that in winter time!!
You guys know how to make winter tyres, I love my Nokians!
I’ve been driving in the snow belt in Canada for almost 50 years and for at least 30 of those have been driving on Nokian tires in the winter… on all four corners. I drive around idiots like the ones shown in this video. The Fins know how to make the best winter tires money can buy.
I live in the snowiest metropolitan area in the US and did my first winter with RWD on factory all-seasons, never got stuck... I'm not impressed
snow tires way underrated
Thank you for posting this. My current job requires that I be there in all weather and hoping to not have to drive in a severe snow or ice.
Get a Subaru & Snow tires.... good to go
@@onenikkione I agree, subarus are great in snow. Plus a good set of snow tires like Bridgestone Blizzaks
@@onenikkioneYeah Subarus are great, but the winter tires are the icing on the cake. My last vehicle, an AWD Sportage, did well with winter tires. I would never buy another KIA though, but that is a different story. Now I have a Mazda AWD with Blizzak ws90s.
Hasn’t anyone driven in the snow before? At what point did a tire with no grip gain grip with more speed?
It's so funny how people forget how to drive in the snow only in 8 months every year 🤣🤣 thats how it is in Michigan lol
I run Bridgestone Blizzaks on my AWD Escape. They handle both ice and snow beautifully. I live in the Sierras BTW...
Man wish we got snow like that. Have had a good snow in years. We just keep getting pitiful dustings
These driving mistake videos usually stress me out to no end as a driver. These ones, though, make me cackle in enjoyment.
Just refusing to straighten that wheel out or turn into the slide. Arg! The rules of physics change for a car on ice.
I spent many years driving in big snow country….this brings back memories….some fond, some not. Don’t plan on getting anywhere fast….or at all.
LOL! Cars absolutely helpless in snow that my Subaru laughs at!
Great cars for the snow! Used to have one until the head gasket blew. Something about the boxer engine I'm told. Not that it happens to all of them, but more than their fair share.
Моntero sport l,ll, lll, Montero, L-200! ;)
Yea till it either blows up or tots away...
@@alansach8437 it's something to do with the gasket itself. It tends to be a problem on NA EJ engines and not so much turbo ones, despite there being boost in those. They use different gaskets.
My 07 Taurus is a beast in the snow. No traction control and she gets through better than a lot of Awd vehicles. Also you have to know what you are doing as well. Stay safe out there
Winter tires are overrated
They were persistent as hell though
Great videos, thanks for not describing in caption what we all just watched. So many are doing that now, so happy to have found your site.
Thank God I'm not the only one that gets their vehicle stuck in the snow ❄️❄️❄️
Why?
Trust me, there are thousands and many more thousands of drivers out there just like you.
Every winter here in Michigan lol. I have a 4 wheel drive truck for this reason.
Boy did you pick the right spots!
Semi driver needs to throw some chains on that rig, but probably doesn’t know what chains are 😂
Again in lots of states including mine and yes we get snow. No longer legal to use chains or studded tires.
If you can't drive on dry roads, STAY off the wet ones!
This SO applies to californian drivers and I was AMAZED at the number of them who had absolutely no idea how to drive in wet conditions......
Wow, great video! Thank you for sharing!
Thats the time when the automatic transmission really sucks. With a manual gearbox you have much better feel and control how to apply the power.
But in general, winter weather just sucks. Especially if you have to perform in a job. I always feel sorry for the poor UPS guys, truckers and so on. They are expected to carry on whatever happens. I had a job like that as well, thank god I'm retired now. So if it snows now, I just turn around in bed and sleep a bit longer. :)
Pop my subaru into first gear and it will claw itself out of anything
Jesus, Living in Maine my entire 40 years of life, I laugh so hard at watching these drivers try to drive in the snow, it's so fucking hilarious 😂
Shouldnt it be common sense, that spinning wheels full throttle while you arent moving at all will only dig you deeper in to the snow and polish the ground even more slippery? Apparently not
My uncle who lives in California and has never seen temperatures below 50, let alone snow, came out to Colorado to visit one year and got stuck in two inches of snow. Some folks just aren’t conditioned to drive in snow.
Snowbelt in NY here and I agree with how funny it is.
@@brimstonethewolf2020 Most aren't, even the one's that have grown up in it.
Canadian here, it's cute how little snow people are getting stuck in lol
that first guy in the blue SUV, i have an idea....why not engage 4 wheel drive mode? Crazy idea huh?
Welcome to annual summer tires convention
Im running Blizzak ws90s this winter on my new vehicle. On my last vehicle I ran Michelin x-ice and those were solid too.
"I don't need 4wd and snow tires are a ripoff ".
Snow isnt good
@@jackbeedle2956 O..... really ? I'm hoping for a decent snow to test out my new snow tires. I'll go try slowly climbing steeper and steeper hills in 2wd until forward progress becomes impossible and I need to use 4wd to continue climbing. I'll also get an idea of my new snow tires breaking capabilities at a slow speed on the way down.
Just a set of cheap snow chains solves most of these problems. Depending on conditions sometimes you slide even with snow tires.
Chains FTW.
I wonder how many in this video were cruisin with all season tires.
easy on the gas and a proper set of ice radials and none of this is a problem
😂😂 Here in Finland we have winter tires. No problems👍
and snow socks don't forget about snow socks🤣
Amazing how many people do not pay attention to their tires a lot of these cars need tires.
The next few days should be interesting where I live. We're supposed to get a big snowstorm and many of us were not able to get winter tires due to the rubber shortages. And it's steep and curvy here. Gonna be cars skating all over the place.
Be safe!!
So how did it go?
@@PradedaCech I don't really remember, because it was almost a year ago, but I'm still alive so I guess things worked out.
And every car in the video has summer tires :)
Summer tires, and summer not…
I love all the videos. Awesome job both of y'all. 💜❤️💜
About 2 years ago, I bought a Used Subaru Impreza. We had 9 inches of snow and this thing went through it like a tank, No spinning at all. I stopped in our road that wasn't plowed, Started off without a problem. I won't buy a car unless it is AWD or 4X4. It's Amazing
Sadly, most of these drivers wouldn't benefit from 4WD, AWD or simply snow tires. These are people who white knuckle it driving in a light rain.
Cause snow tires make way too much sense! "All Season" tires are really just 3 season tires. Useles in the winter.
Im surprised that the UPS driver, didn't have chains on his tires. Seems it would make his job a little easier.
those trucks usually have duals
Last i heard ups doesn't like tire chains
I love how this started with some stupid little SUV that didn't have four wheel drive getting passed by a mid 90's Caprice going up hill! Caprice driver knows how to drive like a man
Winter tires - available everywhere but in America :)
perfect comment!!!
I guess these people have never heard of studded tires.
There is a reason winter tires exist🙈
Suggestion: Invest in good tires as some of these videos show crashes for 1000ths of dollars..
yes keep spinning your tires while turning, that will definitely get you out.......
As a Canadian, I simply can't fathom how this happens each year (the drivers), because I know snow happens each year. If I ad a car, it would have roll up sand channels and chains in addition to a shovel. Cars often get into tricky spots, but I prefer to be able to get out of them too.
LOL....IF you had a car? .......Ok then
@@jodyhahn825 ya if I had a car. I don't need one. Maybe you've never met someone that simply doesn't need one.
That’s why Canadians get stuck all the time?
9:02 You take what you have, when the plow truck has not arrived. 😀😂🤣😅😆😉
Winter driving can be dangerous
8mm snow chains would do nicely for most of this.
Running basic bog standard tyres in these conditions they're bound to struggle!
Gotta be worth it using chains to keep you moving in the 'worse affected areas'.
Get a grip guys!
Studded winter tires will do just fine. I've driven in conditions like these for 34 years and I've never had any problems to speak of. Winter tires without studs would also be just fine, as long as it isn't "all season".
I'm a truckdriver by trade and on those there are no studs.
Chains and studded tires are illegal in Michigan
SNOW TIRES !!!!!.
Chains and studded tire are illegal in Ct. in the old days we used chains before the law changed.
LOVE THIS!!!!
The ups driver:
If I don't deliver all of these packages I'll get fired, management don't care about road conditions or safety.

And soon the madness will start again.
I still ride dirt bikes too, but not so much in the winter. LOL
As a teenager I built some studded tires for my motorcycle and was pulling my friends up and down our street. The 3 speed transmission helped.
Pure Michigan
nothing magical about not using winter tiers...
