RAM trucks are the best all around truck by far. We have all three trucks in the fleet and RAM holds up the best by far. For your gas pedal issue, have you ever just used cruise control? I use the cruise control and even the cruise that monitors the vehicles ahead of you and stays a certain distance. I leave my legs to chill, and don't use the gas pedal. Also, my truck has the pedal adjustments, so I hit the button and get them where I like them.
Glad to hear the 5th gens are holding up nicely even with all the new tech they through into these things over the 4th gens. My 2015 1500 Bighorn Ecodiesel is holding up nicely with squeaking

Check with your insurance company about the windshield. My son had one replaced on his 2015 Ford Edge Sport and through the insurance, he only had to pay his $100 deductible.
@@MrJustinWheeler No problem! My brother installs windshields for a living and after hearing him tell me prices on these newer vehicles, you don’t want to pay out of pocket! He’s the one who told me and my son about the insurance deductible.

I agree un the pedal issue. I think I didn't really thought about it until I saw your video, but I know I have been adjusting the position of my foot quite often while I am driving my 2020 Laramie.
It’s funny you mentioned the trans tunnel because that only bothers me in my fifth gen when I travel long distance and use my foot the whole way so now I use the cruise control a lot more. My third gen has more room and the cruise control doesn’t work anymore but it doesn’t affect me so I’m fine with it. Interesting how you mentioned that though because I’d never complain about it to anyone until you just broadcasted it to thousands of UA-cam viewers 😂🤷🏻♂️👍
That’s wild. I ALMOST didn’t even mention it because I thought that maybe it was all in my head. All these comments are making me realize it IS a real issue. I appreciate the feedback.
So get a 2 X 4, cut one section 4"and 2 sections 7" then super glue the 4" piece between the 7" pieces even with one end. There will be 3" slot to side onto the accelerator pedal. Once in place fix with more super glue. All good!
Terrific review. Thank you. I'm almost entirely made up my mind to buy one but have a bit of guilt since I don't tow and it's gonna be essentially a family hauler that will accommodate any trip to Home Depot or so. I'm also getting tired of asking to borrow friends/family trucks. I'm switching over from a German station wagon. That limited cabin gives my Mercedes a run for its money.
New windshields run about 1k on these. High priced because they need to recalibrate the adaptive cruise and other things that are all by the glass behind the rearview mirror. Adding full glass coverage on these vehicles with adaptive is cheap insurance.
Great video those hemis really do purr that sucks with the transmission is in the way I don’t think the pedals can be moved but I don’t know keep up the good work can’t wait to see more videos on the truck
Have a 2019 Ram 5.7 Classic that doesn't have the trans tunnel next to the accelerator. I have size 14 shoes and had to sell a Nissan Frontier 2018 simple because of how small the drivers floorboard was and the closeness of the break and gas.
Yep, which is one of the reasons I knew it would be a good tire. I just wish they weren't so damn expensive. I miss the days of work paying for my tires. Lol
How's the interior wearing? Top of the steering wheel, exit side of the driver seat (bolster foam and leather wear), any noticeable wear on the hvac buttons etc
The top of my 2020 bighorns steering wheel is already chipping small chunks with only 37k. It might be from my wedding ring though. No more gangsta driving I guess.
The buttons are all perfect. Maybe bc I use the touchscreen 99% of the time. The buttons don't see much use. The side of the driver seat is in perfect shape. I know the 4th gen rams were notorious for the side of the seat falling apart. All good so far. The ONLY wear is on the leather portion of the steering wheel. It isn't bad, but the original grain on the leather is becoming smooth and starting to look somewhat glossy.
@@MrJustinWheeler Great vid Justin. I use a $1 steering wheel cloth cover from the dollar store (the only thing I buy there) and my steering wheel is perfect. It's black cloth and makes controlling the wheel better IMO. Don't use a rubber or plastic cover, they mess up the wheel over time. Just use a cloth one. Anyway, just for thoughts.
2020 1500 laramie, bought '19 with 11 miles on it, almost 20k miles now. So far I've had the resistor for the blower motor replaced & the radio/screen replaced because the fan motor would suddenly stop for no reason but would slowly come back up to previous speed setting. And the radio would glitch with long loading times & android auto nav cutting all of the speakers out on the right side after voicing a change in direction. Currently waiting for my front passenger seat cover to be replaced under warranty because the stitching on the side is coming undone. Those have been my issues so far. And yeah I've got a personal saying about south & west Texas lease roads : If the description of the lease road sounds unbelievable, then it's probably true 🥴🥴🥴.

I agree with you on the placement of accelerator but leg is in pain after a one and a half hour ride. I have a limited Longhorn fully equipped. And I find the Air shocks makes for a ruff ride.
I've never heard anyone say that before. I have 2019 RAM Limited air ride, it rides nicer than my 2021 Lincoln Navigator, and that's no lie. I've had people say they've never rode in a vehicle so smooth. I love the ride so much its the only vehicle I drive now and others sit in the garage. You might want to get your system checked.
Hey Ted. I use the adaptive cruise control as much as possible and it definitely helps. For most people that is probably enough to offset the weird pedal ergonomics. But with the amount I drive, it’s still an issue.
How has the transmission behaved, any traction control issues and do u know if the rear seat on the megacabs recline as well? Average gas mileage in the city?
I’ve have the same exact truck as yourself, im getting to ready start towing daily for work and just wondering if you tow daily and if so how much weight are you towing? and how many miles towing would you estimate?
No issues with the exhaust manifold leaking? My 09 needed that repaired 2x. So far my 19. Has been nearly flawless. Both side mirror mechanisms failed. Warranty took care of them .

I have the same 19’ mine only has 32k on it and it’s funny you mention the headlights, mine has an LED strip that works when it wants to on the passenger side along with a couple minor other things wrong. Glad it’s still under warranty! Good update though glad to hear these hold up real well!
Man, I’m sorry to hear that. I pay close attention to other 5th gens I see in public and haven’t noticed any with failed lights. Glad you’re covered under warranty. I get that’s an expensive replacement part.
I have a 2012 Ram 1500 Hemi with 166,000 miles. It still running strong no issues at all. Though I delete the mds system everytime I drive it. So I'm always on V8 mode. Also almost do I let it sit and idle. The only time I do its when its very cold and I need the window defrost to do it's job.
Your gripe about the pedals can be relatively easy to fix if you can fabricate a couple brackets to relocate them. The pedals arent attached to any linkage really (unless you have the adjustable pedals) other than their respective sensors.
They are the adjustable pedals. But I am going to try and fabricate something. I’ll keep the subs posted on my progress!
I'm a little behind you on Miles. No real complaints on my side, that foot issue you have I'm not sure about. I drive the v6 & have beat the crap in the dirt/deserts, city. Pretty dang happy with this Ram. Good video bud!
I'm at 114k
Thank you for the video. Very well done. I like that fifth gen and glad to hear there's so many positive things about it. Ram trucks the only truck that I would ever buy. I have a fourth gen and have been very happy with it
Yes sir. I am very happy with the 5th Gen, and always loved my 4th gens as well. Thanks for watching!
Luckily in new zealnd rams are converted to right hand drive so excellerator is near the right hand door not the tunnel,
Good point! Now there’s an idea 🤔
That’s the best idea yet. I’d love to get a RH Ram.
I know your knee pain. I had to order the loaded Laramie package without the big center console. Much better on my knee and driving pisition.
I appreciate the comment. When I started to feel the discomfort, I thought it might have all been in my head. I love the center console, but agree that it would be much more comfortable without it.
Just picked up my 2022 built to serve diamond black love it i say just look at it.
2017 1500 hemi 161000 mile, no issues but the exhaust bolts on each side at about 81000 miles. which i was able to replace.
I drive my truck from dallas to west Texas every other weekend and my ram has held up really good on those roads 😂
ive got a 2013 1500 tradesman hemi 207000 k so far only problem has been the clock spring which cost me $395.00 at the dealer. i replaced my front pads at 123k and they had about a third left on them.,
The 5th gen RAM limiteds look so nice. Would love to have the money some day to get one! I love my 3rd gen. But would love an upgrade
Definitely an attainable dream truck
The heck kinda brake pads is Ram installing?! My 19 Sierra needed new pads at -35k. Very cool video. Really enjoyed it.
I get 20k on my pads and rotors on my 17 Suburban. All city miles though
i bought a 2021 rebel i love it i was a ford man now im a dodge fan best truck for the money i would say i dont have a problem with the pedal ill have to look again
As someone with 4 knee surgeries. Start stretching your quad. Even get a good foam roller to workout any knots.
I met this guy the other day at a dealership. Genuinely great guy and gave me some good advice! Ended up buying a 2021 big horn with etorque
I have a 2021 big horn with etorque. Love the truck
Hey Zander! I appreciate the kind words. How are you liking the new truck?
I run falken wildpeak at3ws on my ram. They are really aggressive, they don’t wear hardly at all and they ride very smooth. They don’t make any sound on the road at any speed. I have falken wild peaks on all my trucks
I'll need to look into those next. How much does a set cost? Comparable to Nitto, Toyo, etc?
@@MrJustinWheeler I spent 1,050 to get falkens mounted and balanced plus the cost of the tire. I only really chose the falkens because I heard they were more quiet than nittos and Toyos. Now I have 4 sets of those falkens on all my trucks.
@@johnnyrocket6588 That's a real good price. Whereabouts are you located? I'd drive a decent ways to save that much money.
@@MrJustinWheeler I just got them from Ciocca Subaru in Allentown pa. A lot cheaper there than tire rack or anything else
I miss driving down lease roads! Those roads, and even the highways they’re off of, can be treacherous! That caliche is roooouuuggghhh! Gotta learn where all the bad pot holes are, especially before it rains! I’d see new people changing tires right after nasty ones, 😂 but 😲😩. Spent a lot of time on Reeves, Culberson, Lea and Eddy county lease roads. Ahhh, those were the days!!!
That is serious change for a set of tires!
No argument there! It'll seem cheap in 10 years when we're all buying "smart tires"
@@TruckCentral True!
@@TruckCentral can't help wonder what's going to happen when those electric trucks on the freeway in the winter when they run out of juice while they run the heat. Isn't like someone can bring them a can of gas! I'll keep my Ram!
@@TheNewenglandboys can of gas and a generator.
@@cyborg2048 ya which the gas station will loan you when you buy a can of gas
RAM trucks are the best all around truck by far. We have all three trucks in the fleet and RAM holds up the best by far. For your gas pedal issue, have you ever just used cruise control? I use the cruise control and even the cruise that monitors the vehicles ahead of you and stays a certain distance. I leave my legs to chill, and don't use the gas pedal. Also, my truck has the pedal adjustments, so I hit the button and get them where I like them.
Funny you mention foot space in regards to the transmission tunnel. For long trips I always wear form fitting shoes like sketchers.
Glad to hear the 5th gens are holding up nicely even with all the new tech they through into these things over the 4th gens. My 2015 1500 Bighorn Ecodiesel is holding up nicely with squeaking
Bastard cut me off. OEM brakes with 7mm left I suspect they're glazed. Only thing I've noticed failing intermittingly it the lock actuator on my Rambox but no biggie. I'll be happy if it last another 100k miles or 5 years without blowing, if it does oh well.
@@whatchis1120 how many miles you got on it? I was always a fan of the eco diesel, but I haven’t got to own one yet.
@@MrJustinWheeler I’m at 90k miles don’t drive it as much as I was. But should start climbing again in the coming weeks.
Check with your insurance company about the windshield. My son had one replaced on his 2015 Ford Edge Sport and through the insurance, he only had to pay his $100 deductible.
I will do that. Thanks for the heads up!
@@MrJustinWheeler No problem! My brother installs windshields for a living and after hearing him tell me prices on these newer vehicles, you don’t want to pay out of pocket! He’s the one who told me and my son about the insurance deductible.
Yes I'm very happy with my Ram 19 DT Rebel all the options but the bigger gas tank. I have low kilometres but I've had it for a couple years the truck's been fantastic end of story.
Good to hear. I’ve got the 33g tank and love it.
I agree with that comment about the foot paddles and I'm looking forward to have that change on the upgrading to the new vehicles
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed it 😅. I hope they change that going forward too.
So get a 2 X 4, cut one section 4"and 2 sections 7" then super glue the 4" piece between the 7" pieces even with one end.
There will be 3" slot to side onto the accelerator pedal. Once in place fix with more super glue.
All good!
Maybe adding some aftermarket pedal covers or replacements would allow you to shift them to the left a little?
Yeah I’m exploring all options at this point. Thanks for watching!
Can you have the brake and gas pedals "shop-modified" leftward by 3 inches?
I dont have that problem with the petals in my 2019 ram but have the exact problem in my wife's 2014 durango with the 5.7 and 8 speed.
Thanks for the review I have the same truck in White and am glad to hear what you have experienced so far hope mine does as well
I love them in white. It was a tough decision between the white and black for me. Great trucks either way. Thanks for watching!
"I take this truck down roads that make the moon look like the Autobahn" 😆😆 awesome
And that’s NOT an exaggeration. 🤣
Great video those hemis really do purr that sucks with the transmission is in the way I don’t think the pedals can be moved but I don’t know keep up the good work can’t wait to see more videos on the truck
Thanks Haden. We have a lot more videos in the pipeline!
Have a 2019 Ram 5.7 Classic
that doesn't have the trans tunnel next to the accelerator. I have size 14 shoes and had to sell a Nissan Frontier 2018 simple because of how small the drivers floorboard was and the closeness of the break and gas.
It’s a real problem! With all the research and development car companies do, how do things like this not get noticed?
Really interested in reliability compared to my 16 tundra. 140k only needed oil changes. I really like the interior and look of rams over tundra.
Looks nice!
Great in depth information! 👌
Thank you, Glenn!
You will be ok. Toyo makes the nitto tire.
Yep, which is one of the reasons I knew it would be a good tire. I just wish they weren't so damn expensive. I miss the days of work paying for my tires. Lol
I definitely understand
Can’t believe work doesn’t pay for at least one set a year.
The 3/4 ton (2500) and 1 ton (3500) Rams still use the old cab. So they don't share the same cab design as the 1/2 ton (1500) model.
How about electrical issues and broken exhaust manifold bolts. Never again. Screw rams. 100,000 miles only SMH
@@kimojon9665 that’s a good idea. I didn’t even know the dollar store sold those. I’m going to check that out. Thanks!
Great review!
Under full insurance u can get replacement depends on ur coverage
What a joke. I can't believe how these rams sell! I had a 4th gen tons of issues. Junk!
I say keep driving the wheels off it and hopefully Ram will pony up and give you a new one!!!
What type of oil do you use for your truck and how often do you change the oil on your vehicle name brand synthetic or regular
Had the same issue with the trans tunnel being too close with my power wagon.. after and hour or 2 of driving it would get almost painful.
Yes sir. It’s an issue I hadn’t expected. Hoping to find a workaround for it soon. You still have the power wagon?
1.-I have had to replace the 8" display twice!!
2.-Emergency brake won't release. Had to remove the battery to reset..
3.- engine turns off but nothing else. Had to remove the battery to reset..
44k miles
2019 Ram 1500. Bighorn
3 yr. Lease with 1 year left. Im afraid to keep it!!!
Yikes. Sorry about your luck Dan. You’ve def got some electrical gremlins living in that dash. Good luck going forward.
Truck shopping and still open to all brands, thanks for the Ram review.
This is the first time I’ve seen/heard tire prices - ouch!
Key question - would you buy this vehicle again?
(on window cracks: probably too late, but check insurance for a front window rider. Here it’s $200 for me to replace, totally worth it to me. )
great video Sir,I really want to see how she holds at about 200,000
Thanks, Carlos! We will be at 200k before you know it.
I got 145k on my 2016 Eco diesel and have not had one issue still on factory brakes. One recall and nothing else
I agree with you on the placement of accelerator but leg is in pain after a one and a half hour ride. I have a limited Longhorn fully equipped. And I find the Air shocks makes for a ruff ride.
Something is wrong if your truck is riding rough. I have a 15 Laramie limited with the air suspension and it still rides like a dream.
Dude it’s nice but after that much mile I will get rid of it because I guess every machine needs maintenance but I guess you covered it all
I’m about to pull the trigger on 2019 big horn 1500. It’ll be my pumper truck for oil and gas. Do you think it’s worth the buy??
I have the 2021 model and the foot pedals have electronic adjustment so can move forward, back or left n right so Ram must of heard your complaint
any issue with the 305 size tires since the factory tire is 285, thank you
No sir. Very minimal rubbing when in the lowest ride height with the wheels cut hard. Normal driving has absolutely no issues. Thanks for watching!
I’m really surprised your truck is lasted even that long. Congrats.
Its called cruise control! Limited even have adaptive cruise with full stopping power. So not sure why anyone has foot on pedal for long times.
Hey Ted. I use the adaptive cruise control as much as possible and it definitely helps. For most people that is probably enough to offset the weird pedal ergonomics. But with the amount I drive, it’s still an issue.
@@MrJustinWheeler yep. That layout is a big miss for ram. I assume they haven't changed it yet? I am looking at a 2021/22. With eco diesel!
In regards to oil and filters. What brands and service intervals have you used?
I agree! West Texas is definitely harsh on vehicles.
I live in West Texas. Can confirm.
How has the transmission behaved, any traction control issues and do u know if the rear seat on the megacabs recline as well? Average gas mileage in the city?
I’ve have the same exact truck as yourself, im getting to ready start towing daily for work and just wondering if you tow daily and if so how much weight are you towing? and how many miles towing would you estimate?
sounds like you have a new project. Pedal mod! 😄
Haha, I've been putting some thought into it already!
No issues with the exhaust manifold leaking? My 09 needed that repaired 2x. So far my 19. Has been nearly flawless. Both side mirror mechanisms failed. Warranty took care of them .
