I love Bert, and have met Marcus at a show at the Murat in Indy, at a VIP Meet & Greet! Marcus is so grounded and genuine, and his music is an instrumental part of my life and speaks to one's soul! Love you brother and thank God for your presence and may he keep you safe & strong!! Awesome sole ✌
I have just recently got into marcus. So that was my exact thought when i saw this pop up. I had already watched the ymh episode, but it was older by the time i got to him.
I used to work with Markus at mellow mushroom and remember the bars wouldn't let him play for a while. They noticed their attendance dropped and definitely brought him back! Super cool guy!
Thank you for your honesty Marcus, truly appreciate you baring your soul for an audience and allowing us and so many others a glimpse into your journey ❤
Between this and something burning, Bert has been crushing it lately. Really coming into finding his niche. Musicians connect so well, really fun to watch and them peforming an added bonus. Many thanks Machine !
Hey Bert! Guitar player of 25 years here and while it’s obvious you’re new to guitar; you’re actually really great at your sense of strumming timing! You should definitely keep playing! You have music in you that the world deserves to hear!
Bert isn't new to guitar. Pretty sure he was playing since he was in college. Thats a long time. How old is this podcast? He was played on early eps. Definitely not new.
Man I tear up when I hear about Marcus’s trouble with anxiety and depression, I lost my son on 3/2/24 to suicide , and yes I wish I would have done more , he was a sweet soul . He just struggled in this world . His name was Mason Tanner Humphrey , I just pray that whoever deals with this or knows someone who does , to please take it seriously and don’t just think it will pass because it won’t .
Been a longtime fan of Marcus. Seen him at duling hall multiple times and shook his hand and spoke with him and the band years ago. Great guy with a great heart.
Thank you Bert for bringing on the musicians. I Love your pod cast but getting this "behind the music" sessions is giving me life. Also, you are my "pick me up". The video you released several years ago where you are dancing to "wow"... thats my pull me out of a depression video. Love it!!
I love that Bert has not only a great taste in music but has these musical guests on and reciprocated the love and inspiration back n forth. What better content could you ask for. “You inspire me! -WELL YOU INSPIRE ME TO!” Keep doin the damn thing Bert! Love ya
I can appreciate this. In my career I’ve learned It takes one “fall”. But for the fall to cost one their joy in life I can understand and appreciate what comes next. Complete deterioration of what they once were capable of. Truth
So glad they mentioned Wide Spread Panic. Awesome band live. Marcus is so gifted. First time live I was blown away. He was only 23 then. Been a huge fan every since! I have a long commute to work and his Mood Swings album is a great listen over and over. Personally I love Cadillac off that one.
This was awesome and super genuine but a little surprised Bert had apparently never heard anything off Marcus’ first album. That album is hot! Also, Marcus is the man!! One of the best guitar players alive
So funny how misunderstood Bert is; when in fact, he is and always has been, the guy illustrated in this pod, human being, flaws and all. Bert is genuine more than many perceive and he has a good heart and Marcus, i mean cmon son. He is an absolute treasure of a soul. Flawed human and all. Love you guys
This is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever heard/watched. I’m guitar player and comedy fan and this podcast was great because it touched on human emotion and problems. Well done gentlemen and I wish nothing but health and happiness for you both.
A lot of people see Bert as an overgrown frat boy. I see him as the most vulnerable man in comedy. Him writing a song with Marcus King solidifies my thoughts.
Interestingly, I put Theo Von in the same category. Constantly evolving, self aware comics who battle and are always working on themselves. So refreshing to be able to identify with people like that and enjoy it.
❤❤❤ So glad you are Marcus!! Bert you are awesome. Great interview..Marcus just went to moodswing Tour in Syracuse. Love seeing Duck with ya good support!
I ran into him at that private gig in New Orleans. One of the nicest artists I’ve met, sat and talked with us for like 10 min after we tried to leave him alone
Love Marcus. I've followed him for a long ass time and I'm proud to see the growth. Can't stand Bert. There's certain people that just can't save face, for me. Congrats, Marcus.
It’s hard to find others on the same level with different backgrounds. This type of bond lasts forever. I have been painfully sober since 2010. It’s hard to make connections. My addiction storys feel like ancient history. I can tell that it weirds out normal people. Most people in the south don’t understand long term sobriety. This was a bad ass podcast!
I love how Bert is genuinely trying to get better at not interrupting. And he did really good and he's still hard on himself when he does it. Keep up the good work Bert. I love you but I had to stop watching the episode where you were on "this past weekend" with Theo because I couldn't take it anymore.
If Marcus King ever does Tiny Desk, he should do it completely on his own with an acoustic. No disrespect to the band, but his energy on his own is so unmatched. Would be dope either way but man, he’s so raw, Im excited for his future.
At first I thought it was John Mayer because of the Dead & Company connection (and it seems like something he would have said a few years ago) but he’s the same age as Derek so I wouldn’t have thought they called him old

Getting Derek Trucks on the podcast would be insane.
Fact!
Kingfish would also be nice
Meh...derek is AWESOME. I love derek but he isntbgoing to be a good interview with bert
I wouldn't wish that on Derek
Derek does strike me as a big talker
As someone who only cares about guitars and comedy, looks like my special interests have collided again.
This was one hell of a podcast.I really enjoyed it as well
Yoooo SAME HERE!
Yeah, the band are friends. So glad to see him on YMH and Bert....was hoping Stapleton tmwould shout him out on rogan but he didnt.
I have just recently got into marcus. So that was my exact thought when i saw this pop up. I had already watched the ymh episode, but it was older by the time i got to him.
I mean I love both of those things, but I care about a lot of other things more 😂
“I’ll tell you who won’t fuck with you, anyone attractive.”
Dude. Words of the wise.
Not necessarily true
Don't let yourself start thinking like that, just cause you got turned down a few times.
@@deaderthendead041 I think I am interpreting in a different way than you are
I literally lol’d when Marcus said that. I feel like he was serious about it but it was just a comedic call back and it was GREAT!!
I used to work with Markus at mellow mushroom and remember the bars wouldn't let him play for a while. They noticed their attendance dropped and definitely brought him back! Super cool guy!
Im from greenville here too. These guys Re amazing. Jack and stephen too
@@jasonmccraw4664 don't know jack personally but I've met Stephen, great guys
@@jasonmccraw4664I think Stephen is gone. He wasn’t with the band when I saw him last month. Sad - great player

you think his management company is in bed with livenation/ticketmaster? ie how he gets the guests and favors done by ticketmaster/management company

SOOO glad you had him on, he’s a hidden gem man. Too smooth, great guitar player and vocalist.
Thanks!
Ive seen Marcus live twice. Hes awesome, seeing him live with his full band is another level. They put on a great show.
Best thing I’ve seen in a while. I don’t understand all the hate Bert has gotten. This is great.
Markus is a blessing in todays music world 👊🏻🥃🤩🇺🇸
My favorite Bertcast of all time!
What a nice guy. Didn't know him before podcast. Will definitely be listening to his music. So talented 1:22:18

Speechless and grateful Bert is a treat . Marcus is that good
Just saw this guy when he was in Denver. Dude absolutely rips the vocals and guitar.
Same he murdered it

Bert, thank you so much for bringing artists to your podcast, and the live singing is insane!
I went to Marcus' drive-in tour we saw him on Cape Cod. First live concert post-Covid! It took balls to be one of the 1st back!
Get derek on here, Bert! Love ya marcus!

Marcus is an absolute triple threat in the world of great music!!!
Bert has a good taste in music!
I gained some respect for Bert through this. I’m a huge Marcus fan, met him in Nashville a while back.. such a cool guy
Marcus and Billy's cover of Summertime is absolutely amazing! ❤

that's the funniest thing I've heard in a very very very long time.
❤❤❤ Worlds collided for this individual on this pod. ❤❤❤
15:50 Marcus is about to talk about his battles with cocaine and Bert completely cuts him off mid sentence... So aggravating
❤❤❤ So glad you are Marcus!! Bert you are awesome. Great interview..Marcus just went to moodswing Tour in Syracuse. Love seeing Duck with ya good support!
I witnessed his talent during Chris Stapleton’s All-American Road Show in Arlington! He was PHENOMENAL 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I ran into him at that private gig in New Orleans. One of the nicest artists I’ve met, sat and talked with us for like 10 min after we tried to leave him alone
That strange reverb on his voice during Wildflowers and wine is everything. Fuckiing Amaazing❤
I didn’t cry, did you? 😢👌🏼
Saw Marcus when he was like 19…knew it was only a matter of time when he became a household name!
I’m not gay but if Marcus King sang wildflowers and wine across the table from me, I’d really think about it
Lol, hey 20 bucks is 20 bucks
🤙 mad love Bert. Rented the machine last night and have watched it 3 times already. Absolutely awesome movie. Excited for your Roger's AR tour🤘
Jam in The Van version of "Goodbye Carolina" is a masterpiece
Discovered marcus on Howard stern, been following sense. Glad to see him making the pod rounds.
The amount of stories that started but didnt get finished in this pod...holy.
Seriously…btw who was the un named guitar player that was talking shit?
@@joshbaker5403 if I had to guess? Dickey Betts for sure 😂
@@JoeBlutenKatwhat? Derek wouldn’t threaten Dickey. It’s likely someone like Joe Bonamassa.
@@BigCon4700 But Marcus did the southern accent. So my guess is it was Dicky or maybe Ted Nugent.
I was thinking Nugent but no idea.

I love this.
Amazing. I effin love Markus king
Marcus's Four off a kind concerts during covid were the bestttt
Marcus king is one of the most talented artist/guitarist out there. The song Rita Is Gone is beautiful
Berty boi back at it with the musicians. MORE!!! 😎

HOMETEAM, Derek Trucks, the south, LFG!! Great episode🎸👌🏼👁️
22:07 Bert 💯% pulling a dad move "its secret, its secret 😉"
Marcus is a genius. So is Bert
Love this episode.
Awesome 😎
awesome....enough said
Bert’s such a huge panic fan, he mumbles the opening line to C.Brown. Wakes from bed dude, he wakes from bed.
49:58 I wanna know what prominent guitarist they’re talking about!lol imma figure it out!!!
For sure Bob Weir
A true talent and reppin SC!!!
I want to applaud bert for stopping himself to talk about himself! "my brain...." what about your brain?" good self awareness bert..
This is what I needed.
Best interview ever.

"Tom dudn't get it" (huge burp). Fantastic. At 1:15:45. The full confession of love before this, then the burp. Apex Bert.
How bad azz would a collab with King and Swims be!

you came to my town (Kelowna) but the ticket resellers prevented me from being able to go :( they added 300% increase
Mikey passed away in 2002!! The man on the moon is a musician and that's the way we're passing the daaaaaaaay!
Damn I wonder what old guitar player Dereck trucks said that to.

It sounds like a southern dude from the impression.
Honestly though, it sounds like something Ted Nugent would say.

Pls tell me it was Dickie Betts that called Marcus fat and Dereck Trucks said he’d run up and down the road. It has to be right?
Greenvilles finest!
I have to know where Bert got that hat.
Pretty cool
