7:55; hiss-ter-ree-sis, generally speaking in the electronics realm, it's an additional trigger or threshold point for a value setting. At my work we have hysteresis settings for alarms on equipment. As an example, if a water pump alarms for low pressure at say 2psi, and the nominal pressure is 5psi, the hysteresis for the low pressure alarm would be set at +3psi making the alarm auto clear when the pressure gets back above 5psi. For a high pressure alarm, the hysteresis would be a negative value to clear the alarm for when the pressure goes back down to the nominal operating band. From a quick search it looks like it's similar for noise gates. Have a -10db gate setting, hysteresis of -5db, you hit -10db and gate opens, with the hysteresis the gate doesn't close until you reach -15db preventing the gate from flickering.
I dumped my GoXLR a few months back (I had it since 2019/2020) for the Rodecaster Duo. No regrets. Learning curve is definitely there but once you’ve got it, it exceeds expectations in all categories
Is there a significant upgrade in term of audio quality on your mic with the duo? I am still using my GoXLR and have been contemplating makeing the swtich.
@ I have 300 ohm headphones (660s2) and this device is capable of powering them with ease and room for more volume. It’s also capable of powering a Shure SM7B mic with no cloud lifter. You don’t need to use any kind of software outside of what the device has for voice modifications (what I mean is like software for noise isolation) and much more. The main thing is support. The main team that developed the GoXLR went to Beacn, so the team running it now is trying but the GoXLR may lose support eventually
@@0xD42K the eu forced more support for the go xlr. cant sell a device you don't support. have both personally think the go is better as the rhode has a small hiss added to my monitors. hate that so much. good on the eu as well pricey little thing to just stop working one day
@0xD42K it still has support. They lost 8 months trying to learn if a team in Europe would be designated, which it is now. Small crew but better than no crew. GoXLR2 is in early development as well. The original should have support for a good bit longer here.
Love the update. Would like to see something like the Streamer X get this update so there's something with Camera In, Mic In, and volume control all in one from Rode that isn't the "Rodecaster Video" with more inputs than most people need.
Been rocking the Rodecaster Duo for about a year now and this is spectacular. I'd managed to jerryrig multitrack recording using the three ins and outs it had before, but this is a game changer
Really glad I bought this. I think this is the best device for my upcoming two PC set-up. The virtual channel between two PCs is something they can easily fix with an update. For I/O, music streaming, song recording, etc, it's the best of the best.
I've had mine for almost a year & I can say 100%. I'm glad I switched from the goxlr. It's great for my dual pc setup. It's a great buy, expensive but worth it if you're serious about your content & can afford the price tag
The Duo has been my best tech purchase in a long time. I ended up putting both XLR ports into use through my desk set-up and now my sim racing rig set-up.
Setting up the Rodecaster Duo that I changed to after wanting to use 2 mics instead of the 1 mic on my GoXLR took quite a long time, and I kept re-adjusting settings to get the sound I was looking for - but after setting it all up, including the new virtual multi-tracks, I am happy that I purchased it. The sound is better and cleaner on my Shure SM7B, I have excellent control and can make adjustments on the fly while streaming (after also setting up a midi plugin for OBS), and I can personalize what I hear in my headset vs what my wife hears in her headset (we play games together on a single PC). The one thing I wish it did was the hold button record for the touchpads like the GoXLR, but we could get that in a future update who knows. I'd recommend the Rodecaster Duo hands down for a single or dual mic setup for anyone
You don't even need to use the multitrack mode to capture the sources individually. Each of the virtual faders is an output in Windows, so you just make an audio output capture for each one and you're done. The only exception is if you want the mic without effects.
Yeah the NDI feature is pretty sweet. I have the Rode Pro 2 and Duo and am thinking about going to Mackie just for ease of use with NDI. Already use it to get video and game audio to stream PC (M4 Mac Mini).
I've had the rodecaster pro for almost a year and a half now, not because I need it but because I have a problem with buying tech. 😂 If you can stomach the price, it's extremely worth it. Very versatile and stupid reliable. Big fan.
I highly recommend using Hybrid mp4 over mkv. You get separate audio tracks and you don't have as many codec incapabilities and a need to covert after recording like your do with mkv. It also doesn't lose a recording on a crash like normal mp4. It's just better all around.
Not sure this was an appropriate work around but I had already had this using 2 usb cables to the same computer, you could go even further using a 3.5mm out of the same pc to an mic input and set it in rodecaster for another channel...I was able to separate my desktop, music or browser, chat, and my mic using the 2 usb method only. I didn't see any YTer ever bring this up. I guess it doesn't really matter anymore now that the virtual channels are there. Great video. Also pretty sure you can have 2 outputs using 2 USB cables to the same PC, but not sure if that integrates with the newish virtual channels.
Something not mentioned, and I understand this might not be the majority of viewers, but you can run an instrument or line in to the rodecaster for those who make music in addition to streaming/podcasting
I have both but have had more glitches with these two interfaces than any other I have owned. That said, I have been rocking the beta for this for a while and it's been solid for the most part. Over kill for most people but super useful that's for sure. PC is easy to use; however, I would look elsewhere if you have a mac though.
How did you get the Rodecaster Multitrack channels to appear as native audio devices? I use the Rodecaster Multitrack in OBS but I had to do it through ASIO inputs which are finicky.
I'm more on the podcast side, running a GoXLR and having both RodecasterPro II and Rodecaster Duo since last year, but for now I'm sticking with the GoXLR for vocals and podcasting because of the frakking Rode ASIO drivers. I don't know if Harris tried them but man, on Reaper W10/W11, they are shitty at best, not recognized most of the time and it made me want to sell them. I'm was the update since the beta 1.4.3 of this summer and it drove me NUTS and I tried the 1.4.4 as soon it was available. I just need 3 channels for my prod side, four at best to add soundboard effects sometimes, but the drivers don't works well, even with hours of troubleshooting. There's a lot of posts on reddit about it, no clear and definitive solution for now so if you don't bought one already, stick with the GoXLR, it's a working horse and it still is the best of both worlds for streaming and vocal work. Both Pro II and Duo are really (and I mean it) really incredible for production and the best proposition around, but if you need to work with online recordings from VOIP (discord, mumbler etc...) and need ASIO to record vocals and I don't know, effects or instruments, it's gonna be a ride to get the ASIO Drivers to work properly, at least for now. If you're comfortable to use it solo and record on the "table", that'll work fine, but if you use a DAW, I don't know if the money is well invested. @Senpai You and Ryan are far more competent than me on that but I think a lot of people would be glad if you could check that, and even have a chat with RODE since they're not very helpful with that for a while.

And I see the different things, like Audio & Chat in the display, but there is NO Audio Device for example is "Rodecaster Music" in my possible audio devices. Some is wrong here. When I do use my browser, Chrome in this case, as soon as I set things up the way you say one must here, i have no audio anymore in my browser. What the ***** is going on ... :(
Nothing works anymore. I turned multitrack off again, just in the hopes to at least get where I was before I made the mistake and tried this. And according to the Rode, Multitrack is off again. In Windows Devices it still says Multitrack however. One of my Standard Audio Player apps for MP3 is the only thing that still works, although its audio settings arent more different than the rest. Yet VLC, Media Player Classic etc. all dont have sound, although their audio settings werent changed. This, as much as I hoped that this would work, has f*** up my entire system when it comes to Audio. Just great ! I dumped my Beacn setup about 6 months ago for the rodecaster duo and Shure sm7b. No regrets! I lost one or two features from Beacn and yes it is a way more complex setup, but the software and hardware are rock solid. Beacn was super buggy and crashed all the time for me! Plus there are things the Rode can do that no other device can!
My GoXLR has been kinda wonky recently. I've been waiting for these features to hit the ProCaster so now I'm 💔. IDK which one to choose! I do want to give the ProCaster a shot tho. Thanks for the vid!
Any chance you can make a video on how to setup microphones for this device but in depth with all the different settings I came from the go xlr and this device to me is complex
Unless i missed it in the initial review of the audio mixer, the one thing that XLR just added a gew months back and one thing the Beacn already had is the the ability to separate audio volume between headphone volume and stream volume. Like i said unless i missed something fron the initial review and it can do this, imma stick with my XLR for now.
I really wish Rode did the same thing with the STREAMER X without relying on the terrible Unify software. And even then, the unify doesn't create a separate channel for USB2. This would be amazing to have for OBS. Having a "STREAMER X OUTPUT" and also virtual channels (mics, HDMI, and USB 1&2). Sadly the only way (half @$$) is using unify. And that software is buggy.
I just got mine and there’s one thing that drives me NUTS. The two dials for output 1 and 2 are both 2 full spins for 0-100 which is small but really annoying. Additionally there’s no quick mute for those outputs despite both dials being clickable. The clicks just don’t do anything.
XPPen Artist Pro 19 Gen 2. Can’t give a solid recommendation since it’s the only one I’ve used. It’s got some weird bugs but other than that it’s been pretty good.
You should have said that it's pre-fader feature and that your fader on your console wont affect that sound volume into OBS. (Unless they changed it but I dont think so)
unfortunately this feature doesn't work for me. i just get rodecaster main 1 or main 2 with the second usb. enabling virtual channels changes that to 3 and 4, but 1 and 2 go missing. no game or music ever shows up even if you set the physical fader to be one. and post fader mix to obs doesn't work. it's just scuffed and stays working as it always did.
While the elgato software is nice when it works, that the key factor. I wonder if something like this takes the "load" off the computer and does majority of the stuff that wavelink does. Wavelink is constantly either crashing or just freezing making the dials for streamdeck plus turn red when turning them.
yes it does! This is the very reason I switched off Beacn! I still use some software audio processing when I need extra features but currently I use Steelseries GG instead of wavelink or beacn and that has been a super smooth experience! But if you want to use just the rodecaster that is totally possible with this update and has a tangible effect on your pc performances when compared to wavelink or beacn in my experience!
I would love a new and updated DLX Creator and XS update also please.. I love the Creator but its overkill .. I know you once used it it but how for streaming is the best setup!! Thank you
Although the Beacn studio looks great, I can not get more than one mic input? I really wish either Rode would add more virtual cables on PC2, or that Beacn would add more mic lines on the studio. Someone needs to look at what is out there and create the end all be all interface lol I am with you on the functionality of the Rodecaster Pro 2 tho... I wish the sound pads would work like the Go XLR's. In the meantime I will wait for a company to figure it out and hopefully sometime we will get that one revolutionary piece of streamer gear the GO XLR opened the door for. As always much love and mad respect.
@@ChrisVirgilio Yes, I used Voicemeeter years ago, but I found it to be buggy and somewhat frustrating. Although using something like Rode Unify isn't any less challenging, I'm hopeful that the companies are listening to user feedback. I would love to see Rode add virtual cables to PC2, or for the guys at Beacn to include more microphone lines. Ideally, both Rode and Beacn would enhance their products, giving consumers more options. I've never liked a monopoly in this market.
@ I hear ya, voicemeter is not perfect, and adds latency. I think there is a difference in USB1 and USB2 on the Rodecaster. Bandwidth difference, I’m pretty sure.
Well, the Rodecaster Pro 2 and Duo record directly to the device via a memory card. GoXLR can’t do that. Multitrack recording means it splits the tracks of every single input into its own separate file so that in post production you can manipulate each channel individually. For instance for live streaming you can use the main mix out to OBS and record with just gameplay and mic audio, so that you can make clips easily without music in the background or silly chat sounds.
@@ChrisVirgilio OK, it records to the memory card, that's the difference? With the GoXLR is records to my hard drive; not quite a big deal. And yes, it records every track separately; I know what multitrack recording means, tyvm. Multitrack recording is an OBS feature. If the device creates multiple audio inputs/outputs on your PC, you can use multitrack recording. The GoXLR does creates five separate outputs and three separate inputs; much to choose from for your recording.
@ cool, glad you understand. The difference is that the Rodecaster is primarily a podcasting device. You can take it anywhere, plug mics in, and record directly to the device without needing a PC with you. I think that’s the main draw of the multitrack recording. GoXLR can’t do that. Also, as in production environment, you have a way to have a backup recording, in case your DAW/OBS fudges up.
@@ChrisVirgilioWell, great that it can record directly to the device, but that’s not what’s shown in the video. He shows how to set up multitrack recording in OBS, the same way it works with a GoXLR. You know, I am commenting on the video, not on the device.
I bought the Elgato Stream Deck + with the XLR Dock... now i think ill regret it... should i have bought the Rodecaster :/? (I use it with the Earthworks Icon Pro)
Does anyone who has a Rodecaster know the answer to this, obviously after using it yourself and not just assuming. Can you take a USB out from the Rodecaster and connect it into a Samsung S24 Ultra (or other Android phone), and have the mobile device use the audio from the Rodecaster as a mic device? Use case - Imagine having music from your PC coming into the rodecaster via line in, a XLR mic into the Rodecaster with FX, using it as an audio mixer for music/vocals. I would then want the audio mix to be sent from the Rodecaster to my phone over USB-C and used as the audio for going live on UA-cam or TikTok. I recently bought the Mackie DLZ Creator for this but the audio out via USB didn't work with Android, but it did on iOS. On Android the audio signal was completely garbled and unusable. I haven't found anyone who has talked about this. Mackie said their "Creator" device wasn't supported for mobile output, so I'd like to know if the Rodecaster works. Only interested in output to Android as I don't have an iPhone. Thanks in advance.
Look, dude.. I wanna like this multi-purpose “mixer.” BUT… I just found out it back-feeds voltage into your PC through its USB-C cable. That’s a HARD. NO. This is what happened: I turned off my PC and my Rode Pro 2 and needed to unplug the PC from the wall (reasons.) Even though it wasn’t plugged in, my motherboard was still lit up… from the voltage coming off the Rode. And, I dunno if they’re related yet but, after about a month of using this thing my GPU now has funny fan behavior. Like 2 out of 3 fans ramp up to 100% after startup until I launch a graphics demanding program on it. So, try it. Leave your Rode plugged into your PC and pull the power cable on just the PC, see if LED’s are still lit up. Apparently, RODE is aware of this issue and have been trying to fix it with software updates since 2022. But, I’m thinking it’s a hardware issue and don’t wanna address it with customers in fear of a massive recall.
This happens to me as well, I ended up using a smart outlet that I could switch on and off to make sure when I turned my Rodecaster pro 2 off, it was actually off and not feeding voltage back to my pc....Weirdest thing, spent months with the Rodecaster team on it when it first launched. They were puzzled, sounds like its a known thing now.
I hate to say but your grievances were "this is has more features over all but because it has those features basic things take a bit longer to set up thus asterisk' i think for a streaming device the sheer versatility is a better deal 100% of the time
love the face in the back ground, but i have to ask now u saw me make that senpai logo.. do u wanna add it to your wall ?? can ship it out with others I made in your series off art.. to give back, for been a great role model for the younger ppl.. U can Dm me an Adresse, on discord or where u wish. just wish an clip off what u think of it when u see it irl..
You should never buy a device based on promises of future upgrades.. but.. I gotta hand it to Rode. They've kept their promise.

Doesnt seem to be working… no additional sound devices are showing up on my PC at all and nothing shows up in OBS
Theres some good vids here on youtube i found to set mine up
can it connect four wireless go 2 mic at once?
Unless i missed it in the initial review of the audio mixer, the one thing that XLR just added a gew months back and one thing the Beacn already had is the the ability to separate audio volume between headphone volume and stream volume. Like i said unless i missed something fron the initial review and it can do this, imma stick with my XLR for now.
Have the Streamer X, in OBS you can setup an audio capture for each of the audio channels !
been using the betafor a while now, its great
I really wish Rode did the same thing with the STREAMER X without relying on the terrible Unify software.
Mackie comparison would be good now
What was that tablet thing Harris was using in the skill share ad I would like to look into it
looks like either the Huion Kamvas or a Wacom drawing tablet
XPPen Artist Pro 19 Gen 2. Can’t give a solid recommendation since it’s the only one I’ve used. It’s got some weird bugs but other than that it’s been pretty good.
I need one in combine with GoXLR
You should have said that it's pre-fader feature and that your fader on your console wont affect that sound volume into OBS. (Unless they changed it but I dont think so)
How do you guys compare this with the Elgato Stream Deck + with XLR Dock ? I'm on between these 2.
I'm interested in your comparison with Boss Gigacaster 8
Looking more handsome than ever, Harris.
Rodecaster Pro 2 vs Mackie DLZ Creator.
Which one's your favourite now?
OK, thanks
unfortunately this feature doesn't work for me. i just get rodecaster main 1 or main 2 with the second usb. enabling virtual channels changes that to 3 and 4, but 1 and 2 go missing. no game or music ever shows up even if you set the physical fader to be one. and post fader mix to obs doesn't work. it's just scuffed and stays working as it always did.
Works fine for me. Probably needs a reset - don't worry, if you save your show you won't lose anything
Does Rode Streamer X have the same feature?
i think i am engaged because of all this engagement
Now I miss my forecaster I wish I didn’t get robbed
Thank you
i wish they add the usb 2 for the secondery it will be more useful even more
Although the Beacn studio looks great, I can not get more than one mic input? I really wish either Rode would add more virtual cables on PC2, or that Beacn would add more mic lines on the studio. Someone needs to look at what is out there and create the end all be all interface lol I am with you on the functionality of the Rodecaster Pro 2 tho... I wish the sound pads would work like the Go XLR's. In the meantime I will wait for a company to figure it out and hopefully sometime we will get that one revolutionary piece of streamer gear the GO XLR opened the door for. As always much love and mad respect.
Voicemeter exists and it can do a whole bunch. It’s just not hardware faders.
Before this it was still the best interface for streaming, so idk your smoking.
Guessing the setup video is coming shortly then?
How is multitrack recording unique to this device? I'm pretty sure I can do that with my GoXLR since forever.
@ I realize that GoXLR can’t do that, but I think Rode makes it a lot easier than GoXLR did.
Engagement emoji 😮
I bought the Elgato Stream Deck + with the XLR Dock... now i think ill regret it... should i have bought the Rodecaster :/?
(I use it with the Earthworks Icon Pro)
I'm in between that and this one as well. Don't know what to pick....
ngl, I've adored RODE products for a while now (despite never owning one, but this *might* be the reason to consider swapping my GoXLR.
My issue was finding the right desk space for it.
u can get a cheap monitor mount and put it on there , it frees up so much space
I just got rid of my procaster due to having usb ports going out after 7 months
So this or the Mackie?
Mackie does NDI. Pretty cool feature.
NO.
This is what happened: I turned off my PC and my Rode Pro 2 and needed to unplug the PC from the wall (reasons.)
Even though it wasn’t plugged in, my motherboard was still lit up… from the voltage coming off the Rode.
I'm trying to find a reason to switch from BEACN aaaaand I find BEACN is just better at all of this. Am I trippin?
can you revisit the streamer x by rhode in a vidoe
👾
Thank you

👍
Sorry the goxlr still sweeps this thing because even though these are all seperate, they are still combined into one audio track.
Did you miss the part where he showed they aren't, and that you can add each thing individually in apps like obs?
Yep I actually did… never mind. I’m a dumbass lol
@@Joncstout it's all good, happens to the best of us lol. Kudos to how you responded too

I hate to say but your grievances were "this is has more features over all but because it has those features basic things take a bit longer to set up thus asterisk' i think for a streaming device the sheer versatility is a better deal 100% of the time
Man im early!
W vid and I am 5 comment🎉🎉🎉😂
love the face in the back ground, but i have to ask now u saw me make that senpai logo..
do u wanna add it to your wall ??
can ship it out with others I made in your series off art..

U can Dm me an Adresse, on discord or where u wish.
just wish an clip off what u think of it when u see it irl..
It's too expensive.... I am so glad I grabbed the GoXLR for $280 new off of Amazon when it was "dead".
