What's interesting is, Linie's attacks did have some power to them. When her axe clashes against Stark's, the ground cracks below them from the impact, there's weight there. It's just that she wasn't strong enough to deal fatal damage to him. Stark's lack of confidence partially comes from the fact that he's had nobody to compare himself to except Eisen, and Eisen is exceptionally powerful. So when he finally feels her attack after lowering his defences, he finally realises she ain't shit compared to him or his master.
Linie relies on momentum and downward strikes to let physics/gravity hide her weakness, which is why Stark goes high in the end and receives a completely flaccid horizontal strike.
@@sfLionheart I don't know that it was intentional on Stark's part (he doesn't seem that tactical), but mocking her for having weaker attacks than Eisen before the final attack also baited her into using the axe against him rather than any of her other remembered techniques. Of all the weapons she uses, the axe is the one that most needs strength. Had she used a spear or sword, she likely would have done more damage to Stark (dunno if it would have been enough to win, though).
@@sebrussell If she wasn't so prideful she would have shoved a sword through his eyes or finished him while he was down. She was fast enough to pull that off and his eyes aren't strong enough to take that kind of hit. He baited her and she took the bait. She would have almost certainly won if she just focused on her own strengths which revolve around her flawless technique. Switching weapons would have given her an edge too and she only needs a couple good hits to soft area's to win. Not to even mention her greater flaw of not even trying to improve upon her copies. She could have used her knowledge to create her own style but she relied on her ability to copy. Then she chose to use that copy against someone trained in it. Not realizing her brute strength just wasn't at the level to make the most of it.
"Stark's lack of confidence partially comes from the fact that he's had nobody to compare himself to except Eisen, and Eisen is exceptionally powerful" reminds me of god of war (2018) atreus thinks he is weak but all that time he was comparing himself to his father, the freaking god of war kratos. lmao
This episode was an anime flex in a number of ways. Did they need to animate Stark putting his jacket on? No, but did it look really good? Yeah. Same with Fern taking her cloak off and tossing it. So fluid. And then the fights! Yeah, you saw, you know. So good.
To clarify: Aura had the Scales of obedience since she became a Sage of Destruction 500 years ago. Aura dealt with the fatal flaw of strong willed individuals by, cutting their heads off, no head, no will. This is how she got her name Aura the Guillotine. Aura did in fact have a headless army back when she fought the hero party as Himmel was upset with Frieren for destroying the puppets with reckless abandon back then. Which is why she chooses to dispel the magic to not desecrate their bodies further.
Adding that inside the armors are still the remains of the soldiers... very sad, and it's also the reason why Frieren treats the armors with respect, instead of just blowing them up with magic.
Ever since he grew out his hair, Suraj is always touching it hahaha, once you notice it, you'll always see him doing it (i get it though, as a guy with long hair as well).
2:58 I think what Graf Granat was implying when he said “Aura the guillotine dealt with them in the most logical way” was that she cut off their heads. It was probably harder for them to fight her will once their heads were separated from the body
Frieren is the show that completely invalidated so many criticism towards audiences. No, we don't mind badass female characters ; Frieren is absolutely a bad ass and so is Fern. That walk by Fern? Holy hell, I LOVE it.
fern's main power of her magic is actually completely unrelated to frieren training her, the reason shes so quick to cast spells is because she was rushing her training to become a mage before heiter passed away, she got faster and faster at casting so she could train more in less time. also aura did have the scales the first time they fought she just didnt use it on them for whatever reason, i dont remember if it was this episode or next episode but it mentions that the original squad fought the headless soldiers as well and those are made from the bodies of the people she took over with the scales
@@greggreyes6869 its not innate, heiter asked frieren once about her suppressing her mana during the conversation about him praising her in the goddesses place, and when she asked why he was interested he said “because i might one day have a kid whos a mage” Heiter trained fern from an extremely young age to suppress her mana like frieren does even before her and frieren had ever met, thats why shes so good at hiding her mana cause she was trained from day 1 as a mage to do it that way. And she got fast at casting spells cause of the rush she was in to become a mage before heiter died. Both of those advantages were a result of the way she was raised not just innate ability
An interesting way to look at Stark's fight with Linnie is that it was a fight between someone who copied Eiesen's technique through magic (the easy way) and someone who copied it through training (the hard way). Linnie copied Eisen's techniques through magic, but she couldn't copy his strength, his physicality, and most importantly his experience; making it a pale imitation. Stark, by contrast, had learned Eisen's techniques through extensive, grueling training under him; and truly made those techniques his own. And the moment Stark realized this, he used it against her and won.
Aura had the scale during himmel era, himmel is just ridiculously fast swordman, he cut aura's hand force her to drop the scale before she can even blink man i hope frieren season 2 reach the goddess monument arc so everyone can finally see how the old hero party fight
IMO about Stark he just lack confident so it create mental block in his mind that make him can't fight Lineh at first but after he realize she just copy his master technic not his master strength he overcome the fear.
she had the mana all along but aura wasnt able to cast the spell on frieren back then. and frieren to her long strat, wouldnt want to use that strat to defeat aura 80 years ago cause it will reveal her strength BEFORE killing the demon king. now since the king is dead she can use that strat
It's so ironic that Lügner would have won if he wasn't so proud and arrogant. People here still underestimating Stark after seeing his battle against the dragon will always be funny. He one-shot the demon girl just like that.
Linie would have too if she'd stuck with using her weapon changing technique rather than being arrogant using the axe still near the end of the fight rather than her other weapons like the spear and sword giving her the speed advantage.

Fern never uses her injured arm during the fight. Such a great attention to detail, Mad House is so good.

Also my assumption was that they just kept pushing her and she was unable to pull off the move at all.

Do you blame him? It looks great!
Before it was his beard, he kept caressing it which was annoying 😭
Yeah eps 9 and 10 are absolutely peak, loving y’all’s reactions
EPISODE 10 HYPE!!!
LTG moment incoming
Fern just stonefaced dancing. The only epsiode were both "Zoltraak" and "Fear brought me this far" is played
You can hear ''Knife to the Throat'' too
Two of my favorite episodes from Frieren. So good! I hope you enjoy. Love you guys
2:58 I think what Graf Granat was implying when he said “Aura the guillotine dealt with them in the most logical way” was that she cut off their heads. It was probably harder for them to fight her will once their heads were separated from the body
Hence being followed by “It’s a tragic tale”
Yeah its crazy they don't seem to see the headless soldiers. Do they just think that is normal?
4:37 I did not notice the first time when Fern gets hit we see it in her POV and the whip lash back. Such a cool detail 👌🏽
Fern with the ZoltraAK-47
Another showcase of blending superb music and animation. I love this anime so much.

ferns innate born talent is she can fire off spells so fast and her mana ability to hide her mana even prior to frieren's training

14:18 "Graf" is the German word for "Count", so it's a title and not really a name.
it's a name
@@Haunt888 im from germany, graf isnt a name. it is a title of nobility. Auf deutsch Adelstitel.

No Dan da Dan for the normies huh?
Next episode will explain why Frieren doesn't use her status and fame to her advantage.
Negative AURA next ep😂😂😂
They have no idea 😞 😅
I love the intro music so much
Stark is a better version of Zenitsu.
Stark to a minute to realize you can use the base 120 damage Thunder but it won't do anything if you're a lvl 10 Pichu
we need them to start the blue lock reactions already
How come you guys haven’t reacted to the FX’s Shogun series? It’s a masterpiece and won so many awards

1789 Windler Falls
I really like that the fighting scenes are short but great. I'm so tired of shows where the fighting lasts several episodes.
I don't mind fights lasting long at all, so long as it looks good
From my understanding either Friren wasn’t strong enough to beat her 80? Years ago or she didn’t have enough mana for that tactic to work
she had the mana all along but aura wasnt able to cast the spell on frieren back then.
and frieren to her long strat, wouldnt want to use that strat to defeat aura 80 years ago cause it will reveal her strength BEFORE killing the demon king. now since the king is dead she can use that strat
