The original drummer of Heatwave is probably the funkiest drummer of all time. No lie. I'm a musician and grew up listening to Heatwave. The First song I learned as a Bassist was Boogie Nights. I'm also a lead singer. People can't tell me and Johnnie Wilder apart as Singers.
When Heatwave first came out I always thought he the best drummer I've ever heard. My brother wrote a songs for Zapp & Roger Troutman. "Computer Love" " I Wanna Be Your Man" "Slow & Easy " etc.
You know- I,ve been wathcing this clip for 3 years, and this is the first time I've ever thought to tell you how much it means to mean. Im an ICU nurse and have dealt with all the things during covid. This was what I have watched over and over to- bring me down- deal with it-try to live my life, try to bring me back to humanity. Its like meditation for me. A happy place. Your drumming is hypnotic and spot on, you deal with it all and make it better than it probably ever was to begin with. I really cant express all this has meant to me, and how many times I have drowned in your perfection, while trying to deal with everything else. So, just a heartfelt, Thank You.

I've watched this video many times over the years, and I can swear I used to see him at a Starbucks in Westchester, CA by LAX. Same hat, same shades and gloves on the patio using the table as a pad.
