I think some people who've made comments on almost all of these videos miss the concept of what a roast is. It's insult humor, some of it crass and some of it off-color, but it's based upon verbally roasting the person being 'honored'. Dean Martin famously presided over dozens of Celebrity Roasts in the '70s and '80s but he by no means created the concept of a celebrity roast but I credit him with popularizing it due to roasts beforehand being private gala's largely held at the Friar's Club. This isn't meant to be a Homecoming-type of get together such as those from Bill Gaither, for example, and those that understand what a roast is shouldn't be surprised at what they see or hear.
