Ich habe auch seit 4 Wochen eine R100RS Baujahr 1981 und ich bin begeistert! Ein Wunderwerk aus den 80 Jahren und heute noch eine Schönheit. Ich liebe den schönen sonoren Sound. Herrlich!

I love your films from american roads because it helps to stay optimistic on german main roads.

Enjoyed your video and felt your joy getting on the old BMW again. I have just put my old 1981 R100RS back on the road, not a restoration but a rescue mission. It was last on the road in 1995, stored in a cold damp garage, it suffered, ( I'm UK based ). Had to get the front fork stanchions re-chromed, replaced all brake lines (stainless steel ) and both master cylinders.. thought I was all set to turn on the engine and give it a try, I'd replace the old gas but when I turned the taps on the fuel lines were rotten, petrol everywhere.
I now have it running but not looking anywhere as good as your beautiful machine, mine is a dog to look at but with it's new tyres it rides great.
What got me was when riding it I was noticing the same aching wrists and arms as you did, the short movement turning the handlebars, and how different it feels to modern bikes. For me it's a keeper, good for eating up the ground, where as I have A BMW G310R for throwing around our narrow country lanes.. enjoy your riding whatever you do and thanks for sharing. :-)

The RS is a sport touring machine! A well tuned Airhead is a beautiful thing! Take it on a real road run and you will be impressed! The Speedo is about 8-9 mph optimistic. That motor is happy about 85 mph on the road. I have done 500 mile days in comfort on mine!

I just purchased a 93 R100RS with 20k on it. It is currently getting checkout out + maintenance. Your video is getting through the waiting for the first ride.

@@JdilpkleRS Well I got the RS on the road and ran it 60 miles or so. What a great bike. Has all the nostalgia but still is plenty capable, It's fast and handles well. Going to be a great spring and fall bike because the fairing holds the heat pretty well. All in all extremely happy - selling my Suzuki GSXS100GT+ to finance the RS.

Wenn das Getriebe nicht kracht, dann ist es keine BMW. Ich genieße es immer wieder.😊

Hey Joe, yes, we are blessed with many choices, but from what I see and hear you say ... if your done with the dirt then cut Cedric loose and then maybe Klause and move on, but that is just me ... and we are different. For me, my heart is always leans off road, that is why the T700 appeals more to me over the beautiful Vstrom that I had, I understand the vintage appeal, I feel that with the KLR, but the KLR is a big fun reliable sofa to ride on or offroad all day long .. You will figure it out. Great job on getting the BMW back on the road again, congratulations.

If you sell the RS, you will regret it. I had an R90S that I sold when we had small children & I had no time to ride. Now I have nothing but time. Really miss that bike now, but no way to afford one. 😢

Yes, Doug I agree, hindsight is always 20/20. I wish I would’ve kept quite a few things that I had practically given away in the old days. Oh well, we got bigger fish to fry now👍🏻 great to hear from you! Joe

Don’t quite understand your comment. My first BMW, make allowances for my ignorance. All the best.
