The ListenUpNotDown channel name came about from my own desire to be able to navigate through life the best way possible. I came to the realization, by the absolute grace of God, in one moment of time in 1977, that the ability to live my life to its fullest was to simply give my heart and life to a Savior who not only knows me better than I even know myself, but has a plan for all who call on Him - a plan that not only affects every area of life here and now, but stretches wonderfully into eternity. The one best qualified to tell us how to manage and maintain our motorcycles is the manufacturer of that motorcycle, and so it is with our lives - the originator of life itself and manufacturer of both you and I absolutely proved His love for us by willingly giving His life up to judgement for the sin that you and I are guilty of doing and deserve judgment for. I asked Christ into my heart - and in 1977, He obliged. All the very best!

Dang Joe! You need to get better. Enjoy your Wyoming trip. I was in Lytle Creek a couple of days ago and it's good to get out but a shame about the condition of the park. I didn't walk around and just did a U-turn on the DR650.
I give it a month and you will have a kick in your step and a song in your heart. Getting out to Jerry's is a big first step, now we can meet for breakfast. 🥞🥓🍳
Hi Joe, 🎉it’s nice you were able to get out for breakfast. Sorry that foot is still causing so much pain. A trip to Wyoming will give you a much needed reset. The ending was too funny. 😂 😅
Dave!!
Sorry, that your foot is still hurting and pray that it heals properly. Have you considered physical therapy although I haven’t got a clue on what they would do to help you? Best of luck!
Tim, good to see you lurking around UA-cam , hope all is well.
😂😂
Now you need to go full Pee Wee and get streamers for your bike. Looks like a good start for the New Year.
Now THATS thinking. 🤔
Coffee and dreaming been there. What was the movie with the scene showing the white shoes on the bar? I know I’ve seen it.
@@verbalwidget0919 Pee Wee’s Big Adventure from years ago. I gotta start putting in applications. Toe is perfect for that now.
I stopped drinking anything with caffeine about 5 weeks ago. That looks like you got a big dose in that cup! 🤣
Happy New Year Tim, good to see you out and about on You Tube.
@@vtrack1963 the easy coffee access at the house now with the coffee pods is scary. Moderation. Right.
Kitty has super powers... ❤😂
No doubt!
Happy New Year Joe. I’m sorry the surgery recovery has been so hard/painful. Hope it feels better soon. I used to not care for cats; however, we eventually got a good one that changed my perspective.
It’s amazing what small thing can change all perspective. Wonderful to hear from you!

Run Forest run … Looking good Joe, it’s been a long time coming. Two regular shoes nice. 👍🏼
Looking forward to getting out and about, but not too fast!
Howdy Joe, Happy 2025, it's great to see you on the big screen here at the secret Widget Works underground factory. Nice to see you up and around. They are not fusing anything on me, had one Doc this year want to replace my knee, I told him he was insane that's not happening as I limped out of his office 🤣😂 You're a good salesman I had to fire up the Kurg, but no Skons for me, only dip oatmeal cookies in my coffee with my pinky out to show my educate and class. 🤔Great to see you up and about. Take care.
First comment of the year!!!! SCORE!!!
Dave, you are on it!
The true beauty of nature. Fantastic shots Joe.
That's right. Get them feet back under you. Congrats on ur recovery.
I’m flying slow and low…🎉
Great way to start the new year! I am happy for you.

I enjoy the photography. Thanks
Great message Joe, so great to see you all dressed up and standing tall. Really great to see you, I needed that tonight as I drink my coffee. BTW ... don't the bikes already have a fruit cake?🤣😂 ha-ha I mean that with the warmest of hearts my friend. God bless you and your family, take care my brother, we will get together for a coffee soon in 2025.
@@verbalwidget0919 Affirmative on the fruit cake. You’ll get no argument from me(or anyone else for that matter). Coffee meetup in ‘25 sounds perfect my friend. Have a wonderful Christmas Dave.

Nice how relaxing a ride on an RS is, great road...
@@soraksan321 yes if the weather was nice, and I didn’t have a foot recovering from surgery. I’d certainly be out there. I gotta start twisting some wrenches on the RS as soon as I can. Great to hear from you!

Foots looking good Joe, I tune in for the Parallel Camper hat and the Procycle decal on your toolbox. True signs of wisdom and DR650 funkery. @@cheryl_Anne_02 hello Cheryl! If you ever have insomnia, you know where to go. God bless!!
Hi Joe. I hope the healing goes well. I also hope you can return to motorcycling at some stage as I feel it is a passion for you. I was interested to learn that you turn 70 next April (as do I). I also own and still ride a BMW R100RS, mine is a 1989 which I bought new when I was 34 years old, now at almost 70, I fined the riding position very difficult and hard on my aging wrists and elbow. Interestingly I also own a Suzuki 650 however mine is a Suzuki SV 650 ( I believe it is the older cousin of your Vstrom, same motor gearbox but a more road orientated style. Anyway keep up yours spirits and faith and eventual all will be well God bless and best wishes. Bob (From Auuckland NZ).
@@BobLaycock-cj2ok Hello Bob! What a pleasure to receive your post. I was with my foot in the air watching classic car UA-cam channels when I saw your post. I concur with the RS riding position, which has been a sore point from day one. The wrist load and the deafening wind noise has brought me to the point of selling more than once. I’m going to have to get the transmission sent out eventually for rebuild and get things buttoned up. It’s a joy to ride mostly for its uniqueness, not for comfort and convenience for sure. I’ve ridden since 1974 and now turning 70, I know I’m eventually needing to rethink and reevaluate how long I want to be on the roads in traffic putting myself more and more harms way as attitudes and attention span of other drivers decline. I know that if I came off at speed, my 70 year old bones wouldn’t take the shock as well as my 20 or 30 year old bones would have. It’s a decision that will need to be made, but getting on a bike in the early morning and going for nice coffee just delays the inevitable. In the meantime, I’m looking for at least a semi functional foot and then go from there. I’m pleased to have received your comment as I was needing something or someone to stir the brain cells. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to share about you and your RS. Hope to hear from you again soon. All the very best. Joe
Good evening, Joe, it was a nice surprise to see that you posted a video when I woke up. I didn't watch it until I had my cup of coffee in hand. Keurig coffees are great for that quick cup of coffee, I mostly do the old-style Mr. Coffee style brewing for my coffee pleasure. I had a big toe surgery years ago, no metal plate like you, but yes foot surgery is incredibly painful, I was living on the couch too, it was easier to keep my foot up and not to wake up the wife at the time. Time to reflect is good for a man and put the future into perspective. Change is inevitable as we age, and as time rushes past. It was so great to see you, Joe. Thank you for the Video. God Bless.
Widget, you are waxing more poetic and philosophical with every post. Thanks!

I’m glad you liked it. I’ve been laid up on the couch for over a month now after foot surgery and I needed to remind myself that I had a bit of a small life prior to the foot issue - ha ha! All the very best. Joe
Hi Joe, I hope you’re doing better day after day😉; after having seen your several videos of your “Klaus”, I don’t know what your age is, but as a beemer on 850RT, I’ve decided I’ll have my own R100RS exactly at tour same today age; everything comes to those who wait; thanks for all your vids, take care, ride safe😉👌

Good ramblings my friend, never fell asleep once. God gave you the gifts and different interest so you could speak to people on different levels. Jesus picked ordinary men, tax collectors, fishermen, businessmen, just as he picked you. He did not pick any from the local churches. None of us are worthy, yet he loves us all. I can’t think of a single thing I’ve done to deserve his love but I know it’s there, without any doubt. Nice shot gun I have the Remington version.
