  • How Bad is the Road to Agua Verde? (Baja California sur)
Is it worth Overlanding two hours on Terrible Off road for the ultimate Paradise and potentially ruin our Toyota Tacoma and Four wheel camper set up?
These where question we started asking ourselves when we heard the stories of people that visited before us. Whenever we would ask anyone leaving Baja; What should we definitely see, they all said Agua Verde. But be prepared for a long off-road and take your time to get there!
    For all Pan American enthusiasts:
    panamericanhig...
But before we make an attempt to head towards Agua Verde. We visit a couple of places a long the road.
We start packing up in the Bay of conception or Bahia Concepcion, BCS.
And we head towards Loreto. A very popular town for expats, as Mexicans like to call them ''Gringo's'' and it seems that everyone gladly excepts that term. Loreto is located on the eastside of Baja, next to the sea of Cortez.
We heard about a Mexican Mission up in the mountains called San Javier. Clearly we love the mountains and enjoy the change of scenery. So we take a winding paved road up the mountains to enjoy this magical place. The San javier mission is a sight worth to see, but overall very small. It's the drive towards it and the beautiful Tranquil vibes that make it so special.
It is finally time to prepare for Agua Verde and we start the drive early in the morning. The drive is long and starts with nice pavement, to pretty soon turn into dirt road. And before we know it, we are on the smallest winding roads with potholes, rocks and deep Cliffs. We are hoping to not run into anyone on this road as passing someone here is impossible.
Our first night we spend in Camp Cosmé. A small campground owned by Mexicans that have lived here for Decades. It is located right at the beginning of the valley in Agua Verde. A well needed break after such a tedious drive.
The Next day we drive into the valley to find this paradise spot that everyone is talking about. We reache the town of Agua Verde and stop for Taco's at the only restaurant on the beach. You can also set up camp here, right on the beach. It is gorgous, but we have our eyes on the magical beach that we can see from the restaurant.
It is time to pack up and make our way to the gorgeous beach in Agua Verde. We see that there are already overlanders there and a half dozen ships in front. If the other cars can make it there... So can we!
Right before entering the beach there is a huge dip in the road. One that many fear! Going down is usually not a problem. But if you decide to drive down there, make sure you know how to get back up.
Some people do not risk it and stay into town to camp and hike towards this magical beach. But the many that do reach it, stay here for days or weeks on end. We all just can't get enough. We stay 3 nights and meet so many like minded people.
When it is finally time to leave this magical spot (after all we have a destination to get to) We head towards the south side of the peninsula. The final part of Baja to explore and what people tell us... It's the most busy part. With many resorts in Cabo san Lucas and Cabo san José. We make a stop in Todos Santos and enjoy some luxury, taco's and ice cream. This is by far the nicest town we have seen on Baja. With nice, we mean clean, good stores and restaurants and everything us Gringo's need to feel a little spoiled. A town like this is good for a day, but honestly... We prefer the small local towns where everything is a little more Chaos.
We end this video on the beach (of course, what did you expect?) The beach of san Pedrito. A busy hotspot for Vanlifers and Overlanders like us. Definitely too busy for us, but we stay here for a couple of days. Because of the Grey whales! Every morning the babies come very close to shore and learn how to hunt. You can see them so well and we all gather around to see these beautiful creatures up close.

San Javi-ay? LOL Also, to be clear it’s not “Bay of Conception.” It’s Bahía Concepción. 🤛🏻

Hi, thanks for watching. We are glad you are enjoying our content. We'll be sharing a video on Wednesday that has all the information on those beaches. The whales closest to the beach where in Playa pedrito, South of Todos santos. But there are many nice spots to go 👍
