Great irons. I've played most brands at some stage and played mizunos right before getting these. Forget any preconceived notions regarding the head type in these irons. You need to hit them to see which one suits you personally. I play the 0311 gen 3 P in GW-8i and 0311 gen 3 XP in 7i-4i (bent 2 degrees weak to blend) and they are superb irons 👏 it's not just the irons it's the quality of the heads. Feel and looks is unmatched in my opinion. Great job PXG
Great review Mike! Everything about PXG is impressive, the quality of the products, their performance and the service levels are in a completely different bracket. When I got fitted for my GEN2 Driver and Hybrids last year the quality of the products just blew me away. Yes, they are expensive, but as with anything if you want quality it costs. If you don't want to spend that level of money on clubs that's fine you don't have to buy them, but if you do you will Not be disappointed!
@@pxg My pleasure, as you may have gathered from my comments here and on Andy's YT channel (the Average Golfer) I am a fan of PXG and it's commitment to quality
Just fitted for Player version. What impressed me more of these irons is that you easily gain distance without loosing spin and landing angle as in most of game improvement irons
Great review. I just bought a used set of the 0311XP's. I'm a senior just getting back into golf. These clubs are amazing to me. Such a pleasure to hit them.
I hit the XP's and they are far and away the best irons I have ever used. Every single one, from 4-GW I hit amazingly well. They are utterly fantastic.
@@thehunter4484 Hiya, interested to know your handicap as the XP is sort of targeted towards the 15+ I'm sort of leaning towards a blended set, XP in the longer irons and P for the rest. ( I'm a 7.2 index )
@Uncle Ramus curious what you ended up with. I'm a 4 hdcp and I just bought a set of 5 -pw in the xp today. A friend bought them new and played them 2 or 3 times, injured his back pretty seriously. I was able to purchase for $350 so I couldn't pass them up. I've been playing titleist blades for 15+ years but these just go so much further. Granted they are stronger lofts but they are ridiculously long from the few shots I've got to hit so far. Tomorrow I'll know whether they're going in the bag permanently.
So glad to hear and see your assessment. I will be trying these out soon. Currently game the 0211 and used to have the p760 which I loved feelwise. Am hoping that these will be the clubs that give me the distance and the consistency and feel I am looking for.
Aly's Golf Studio I hit them a club longer than my gen1 and 1/2 longer than 0211. Very good feel with almost no dist loss on slightly thin. Highly recommend testing them!
Been playing the Gen Three T for two months and they are so nice that now I’m debating moving into Gen 5… Gen 3 has a loyal following, just watched an interview of Bob Parsons speaking on the Gen 5’s but said he plays the 3’s still. Might camp on these for a year if I can control my compulsive golf club obsession.
Interesting how the carry distances are also pretty similar given the lofts and larger heads for more technology. Wouldn’t seem to do much for a slower swing speed player but if the primary reason is forgiveness, it makes for more seamless transitions in a split set.
I currently have the Gen 2 T irons 3 to SW.............I'm away to order the Gen 3 irons G to 6 in the P and 5 to 3 in the XP, cant wait to try them out
I have 0311’s gen1 and the 0211’s. Both are very forgiving both feel good as well. I hit more center to off center towards the heel, yet the direction is forward. I’ll be testing the Gen3 in the next two weeks at a local range as PXG is in town. Honestly, I tried hitting other irons, other than the mizuno irons, I don’t like hitting anything else. Feel and forgiveness is all I look for.
I’d be super curious about your reaction. I have the EXACT same 2 sets, 0311 gen 1 and 0211s. I tend to like the 0211 a little better, though they are close. Curious if upgrading is worth anything.
@@stevenc9207 I prefer the 0311's due to the accra alone. They are very close for sure.. The 0211's are a bit further and higher. I can't go wrong with both and I do plan to mix them. I just went through a PXG fitting process today. They had every shaft I was interested in and it was at an outdoor range, so I could watch the ball flight. I wasn’t too crazy about the Gen 3 P. The top line seemed a little too thick. I really liked the t, but my best numbers were with the 0211. Crazy! The top line looked better to me than the P too. I’m still in shock! The transition from the short to the mid irons was great i.e. the 8 iron looked perfect. Not too much curve. Also, I was surprised how playable the Gap, SW & Lob was in the set. I’ve always played Vokey, but the wedges in the set are outstanding. Shocked again. I ordered 4 to lob wedge in the 0211...lol. So much for the reactor core???
At first wasn't convinced by the looks compared to the Gen1's I'm playing but I'm starting to change my mind... Tempted to go for a fitting to see just how much difference there is.

Made a few comments on these about 3 years ago and I said I'd wait and get a good 2nd hand set! I've literally just bought the T model and they look great. Currently been using the p770 so anxious to get them down to the range and track man to see the numbers. I've also just bought some Mizuno 225 irons to try all 3. Love the look of the 225. Used them on Wednesday and really liked them. Will try the 0311T in 2 weeks as going on holiday Sunday. What's your thoughts Mike on the 3 sets? Ian
Got these in Dec 19 (promo for already having the gen 2). They are beautiful and ALOT softer than gen 2. Gen 1 felt as soft. My biggest issue with gen 3 is that the metal is so soft that it scratches and dents so easy. My 9 iron after 4 rounds looked awful, and I never hit them out of bunkers or bad lines (have rock club for that, lol). But seriously, even look at the 7 iron Mike is using and you can already see the scratches. I went back to my gen 2s because they are just more durable. My 2 cents.
Ace video Mike. Great consistency with front to back dispersion. Just wish I could afford them. $425 per club is a weeks wages for lots of us. So I'll probably go for the 2020 cobra forged tec irons. At £129 per iron, I can justify that.
Full cnc machined/milled clubs are the future of golf. Grooves heads faces etc all machined/milled mean u are getting the club exact tolerances specs etc. you get the club exactly what you want it to do. And I am all for it. Why I play the p7tw
@@stevehamlett1183 I got the xp irons and 2 sugar daddy wedges in 55 and 60 deg My handicap is 12.8 atm and coming down slowly hope to be off single figures by the end of the year They are no magic wand you still have to put a good swing on them but they are are simply the best irons i have ever hit Plus they look dead sexy does not hurt
Yup i could have easily played the p but the xp were more forgiving The slightly larger top line and club length don't put me off like a lot of people say it does to them I miss hit a shot into high headwinds about 2 club extra wind Par 3 hit it so far on the heel it was nearly a shank ball still got to the green sank the 8 foot put for a birdie Never had a club this forgiving
New clubs for me this year, soon as I'm back swinging after an operation I'd be interested in testing these after your review, you're raving about the feel and I'm impressed with those spin numbers across the 3 clubs. Do they come with a corresponding hybrid? And where can you hit the clubs? Thanks

Still haven’t had the chance to hit anything PXG. Would love them to get out to some remote areas and offer a few demo days! Great video as always Mike

PXG make some beautiful irons. I love the weighted screws that give it that industrial kinda look. I’ve hit the first and second gen irons. It’s time to try the third gen irons. Will it get me outta playing Mizuno irons? 🤷🏻♂️
Im a 1 handicap and i play the XP Gen 3's through the bag 4-pw. They have a good amount of spin and the forgiveness is fantastic. I was going to go with a combo set of XP and P, but i went XP through the bag and find them very consistent
That's awesome. I used to be a 1, stepped away from the game for 5 yrs and have been back playing regularly for 2 yrs now. I'm back to a 5 playing my titleist 735's but today I purchased a set of xp in 5-pw. I wasn't sure I'd made the right choice but reading your comment is encouraging. I'll be playing them for the first time tomorrow
Any view on how the Gen 3’s would compare to the Mizuno MP20 HMB’s? I have those right now and they are money. I must say the dropping prices have me very interested in trying the Gen 3’s and the 2021 0211’s. Thoughts? Thanks
Just got fitted with these irons... lovely feel and also providing some forgiveness for blades but at a cost of over USD3000 for 7 clubs 😔😔😔 not for me!
Should I get the PXG gen 2 or another hollow body like the p790. The Gen 2s are priced really well right now but not sure if those are the best hollow bodies for the money
Great video. I don’t understand why any manufacturer would have different lofts for the same club in different models. I think he said PXG were 33 deg, 31 deg and 28 deg. How would you blend a set of them, I mean you could end up having two 5 irons in the bag because the other one plays more like a 4 iron loft and is more forgiving.
Michael Newton Golf Hmm...as an engineer I get a bit skeptical about club manufacturers tech talk. I don’t see how the CoG position would influence loft. What you would aim for is a club head CoG right behind the impact point to avoid the club head trying to rotate at impact, a high polar moment of inertia again to reduce rotation and a high coefficient of restitution to impart as much energy as possible from club to ball. All I am trying to say is I don’t believe that altering loft to balance a shift in CoG makes any sense. But I am not a manufacturer who has done all the research so I could be wrong. Maybe there is a new video idea there to get a manufacturer to explain to latest principles of club design?
I wonder if the fantastic feeling is not above all for the dealer ($425 each iron). For the record, that's 3 times the price of a "Wilson Staff Model" blade. Do they feel or do they perform 3 times better Michael ? Personally I don't like the showoff PXG apparence whereas WSM are awesome.
Thanks for the video. I personally would have preferred that you use your original formula for editing these videos - hit the shot, show us ball flight, and then numbers for each shot. If not for all strikes then at least 3 somewhat representative shots. I’d feel more engaged and informed through the process.
Hey, were these XP massive compared to the T or the P. Can these XP be suitable for a single figure handicapper. I haven't seen them but wanted to know how much bigger the sole is to the T and the top line etc.
I posted earlier in the comments section, but im 1 handicap and I went with the XP irons. I found in the fitting (after initially thinking of the P iron) that the XP irons had enough spin and landing angle to stop balls on the green no problem. Combined with the extra forgiveness, for me it was a no brainer to go XP's through the bag. Distances are great for my game. 8 iron is a comfortable 165 club, 7 iron 175, very happy with the playability. IMO there is very little top line difference you would notice.
tone rone I played Mizuno for 18 years. Few, if any feel like Mizuno and PXG do not, but have an unique excellent feel. I switched to PXG from mizuno bc of almost no distance loss on slightly thin shots vs much bigger distance loss with Mizuno

brucenoneyabusness I game the gen1 0311 over gen 2....liked feel better. Just ordered gen 3. Feel even better than gen1 and longer. MUCH better clubs than gen 2 in my opinion.
@@shawnmichael9503 Are they too long though? I keep hearing people reporting gains of ~8 yards? I don't need a 190 yard 7 iron. 5 wedges is plenty! Pw, gw, aw, sw, lw.
brucenoneyabusness good point. This definitely can be an issue. Was for me. I’ve ended up with a very different set make up than ever before to handle the gapping problems. It took several adjustments with my fitter to get P, GW, SW acceptable.
It's not "zero three double one". With Dr. Parsons being a former Marine, he named these irons after the Marine military occupational specialty of infantryman. The way it's pronounced is "Oh three eleven". I am a former Marine myself and the way some people pronounce the name just makes my ears bleed. For example, the driver is not "zero eight double one". It's pronounced "Oh eight eleven", and that's the Marines military occupational specially of artillerymen. Hope that was helpful.
Have seen many of these youtube on this PXG. Seems like you only show pros where as the majority of the buyers are non-pros. why dont they are some youtube from players say from 5-10 handicaps then 10-18 handicaps and then 18-25 handicaps, that would be more useful to me rather then a pro hitting a 7 iron 170 yards. If the xp are made for average players why not have average players hitting. these guys could hit range clubs and still look good.

My 9 iron after 4 rounds looked awful, and I never hit them out of bunkers or bad lines (have rock club for that, lol). But seriously, even look at the 7 iron Mike is using and you can already see the scratches. I went back to my gen 2s because they are just more durable. My 2 cents.
I’m seriously impressed by those XP numbers and your feedback on feel
I was really pleasantly surprised
We can schedule you for a no-obligation fitting to test them out whenever you would like :) ^A
Ace video Mike. Great consistency with front to back dispersion. Just wish I could afford them. $425 per club is a weeks wages for lots of us. So I'll probably go for the 2020 cobra forged tec irons. At £129 per iron, I can justify that.
Thank you for reviewing these!
Full cnc machined/milled clubs are the future of golf. Grooves heads faces etc all machined/milled mean u are getting the club exact tolerances specs etc. you get the club exactly what you want it to do. And I am all for it. Why I play the p7tw
Got fitted last week for gen 3
Gained 11 yards over my gen 2 irons...
Nuff said ordered a set
Great news Ben,can I ask what’s your handicap and what irons did you end up getting?
@@stevehamlett1183
I got the xp irons and 2 sugar daddy wedges in 55 and 60 deg
My handicap is 12.8 atm and coming down slowly hope to be off single figures by the end of the year
They are no magic wand you still have to put a good swing on them but they are are simply the best irons i have ever hit
Plus they look dead sexy does not hurt
Judging from this it looks like the xp over the p is the way to go for most people
Yup i could have easily played the p but the xp were more forgiving
The slightly larger top line and club length don't put me off like a lot of people say it does to them
I miss hit a shot into high headwinds about 2 club extra wind
Par 3 hit it so far on the heel it was nearly a shank ball still got to the green sank the 8 foot put for a birdie
Never had a club this forgiving
Hey Ben thanks for the response Hows consistency with dispersion and have you had any problems with stopping the ball on the greens?
Ordered a set of XP last week, waiting for the set to arrive soon!
Nice! You'll love them.....
Got a fitting for these in a couple of weeks can’t wait
Let me know how you get on Tony 😂
We can't wait either 😎^A
New clubs for me this year, soon as I'm back swinging after an operation
I'd be interested in testing these after your review, you're raving about the feel and I'm impressed with those spin numbers across the 3 clubs.
Do they come with a corresponding hybrid? And where can you hit the clubs?
Thanks
Hey Martin! Where are you located? We would love to have you out for a no-obligation fitting, it is a great opportunity to test out our equipment :) ^A
Martin T I’m recovering from shoulder surgery. Just tested the Gen3’s this week. I really like them. Best wishes on recovery. I highly recommend testing these.
I have always played game improvement irons. I play 18 holes a week in summer. I am a bogey golfer . I carry my 7 iron 140 yards. Do you think the XPs would be a good fit for me? I am used to playing larger cavity back clubs. Also I have never owned forged irons.
Good stuff! I'm ordering the XP's tomorrow!!!
Still haven’t had the chance to hit anything PXG. Would love them to get out to some remote areas and offer a few demo days!
Great video as always Mike
Where are you located Paul? Our mobile fitting team is always on the move and can find a location close to you :) Our no-obligation fittings are a great opportunity to test out our equipment. ^A
I’m in Cairns North Queensland Australia
Many thanks for the reply
PXG make some beautiful irons. I love the weighted screws that give it that industrial kinda look. I’ve hit the first and second gen irons. It’s time to try the third gen irons. Will it get me outta playing Mizuno irons? 🤷🏻♂️
Out of all the 3 PXG gems the Gen3 will have a strong chance of moving you away from the Mizuno’s
Where are you located Albert? Let's get you in for a fitting so you can see for yourself 😎 ^A

They will be trust me
The gen 3 are just amazing i could not believe how much better in every way they are over my gen 2 set
Im a 1 handicap and i play the XP Gen 3's through the bag 4-pw. They have a good amount of spin and the forgiveness is fantastic. I was going to go with a combo set of XP and P, but i went XP through the bag and find them very consistent
Are you still liking them? I get mine in this Thursday.
@@RiveraPWS theyre fantastic clubs. Best irons ive ever had the level of forgiveness is off the charts and the flight is really nice
The holy trinity. Looks, feel and forgiveness.
Which one is easy to hit between 0311st and Gen3 T? What would you recommend?
Should I get the PXG gen 2 or another hollow body like the p790. The Gen 2s are priced really well right now but not sure if those are the best hollow bodies for the money
PXG's amazing feel Danny!
Great video. I don’t understand why any manufacturer would have different lofts for the same club in different models. I think he said PXG were 33 deg, 31 deg and 28 deg. How would you blend a set of them, I mean you could end up having two 5 irons in the bag because the other one plays more like a 4 iron loft and is more forgiving.
they alter lofts because the head shape and cg location changes in the models
@@JettyBuilder it does. Launch angle etc will vary from one model to the other.
Lydia KO is no longer a playing ambassador of PXG. Now they have Allison Lee on board.
Hi. Any plans to test the PXG 0317 X GEN2 Hybrid? Thank you.
Probably not 3 times but for me they do feel better than the Wilsons and I didn’t think I’ll ever say that!
Best irons made...…..PERIOD!
Thanks for the video. I personally would have preferred that you use your original formula for editing these videos - hit the shot, show us ball flight, and then numbers for each shot. If not for all strikes then at least 3 somewhat representative shots. I’d feel more engaged and informed through the process.
Difficult as was in a different located and different launch monitor & software.
My thoughts exactly. Very similar situation. Not quite a 1 handicap thought. Hope you are still enjoying them.
Awesome video How are these compare to the feel of a Mizuno I wonder what the feel is like ,,?
For me.......better. I was shocked at the quality of the feel. I thought the Gen2’s felt amazing but these 3’s......hmmmm
We can get you scheduled with a no-obligation fitting to test them out and see for yourself :) ^A
tone rone I played Mizuno for 18 years. Few, if any feel like Mizuno and PXG do not, but have an unique excellent feel. I switched to PXG from mizuno bc of almost no distance loss on slightly thin shots vs much bigger distance loss with Mizuno
I just got fitted for the 0311p gen 3, was playing the 919 tour in mizuno and the pxg's are the softest furthest iron I've ever hit
I have gen 1 0311 irons. They're incredible but... I keep hearing how good the gen 3 irons are. I'm going to test some soon. I guess I might have to sell a kidney but, it seems like it's worth it
Worth trying and comparing against your Gen1’s
brucenoneyabusness I game the gen1 0311 over gen 2....liked feel better.
Does they try to fit you in the same Time ?
Just got fitted into these for $133/club 😮
Heroes price or what?
What ones would be better for handicap of 16-18 ?
XP
Careful with the bounce back hitting the TrackMan. Haha made me nervous.
Semper fi !!
Where can I get one of these heads with the bolt on shaft configuration?
fitting components only
Have seen many of these youtube on this PXG.
Good review mike
Great review. Worth upgrading from Gen2 do you think?
Yes!

Kev Giles I definitely think yes! I immediately thought they felt better than gen2. They’re quieter also
shawn michael awesome thanks!
Get rid of the screws and looks like the old mizuno T-Zoid Newts?
The irons look great.👍
Subscribed to both
You would figure for how much PXG cost they would make a serious set of blades.
Obviously you know nothing about PXG. Their 0311ST iron is the best club I have ever hit in my life. Its a milled blade that feels like silk.
The new 0211 forged blades are killer... and pretty inexpensive! 👍
if your patient the price drops. always dose.

@e james I have been using Honma for years now tho and love them. I've actually got 2 sets because I couldnt part with my 717, I then Bought the 737v and brilliant. But you need to watch with these as there is an American company firing out fakes. So they all need to be stamped SAKATA and serial numbered. Also feral has a gold ring round them. Fakes are blank. Love these clubs.
@e james Loads seem to be for sale and coming from an american factory. See them all over ebay. Grips all wrong, Ferrell wrong, no stamping on the hosel of the club. Why tho eh.
