    I am glad that this man was salvaged from the hell of addiction.

    • @edvin233
      @edvin233 5 років тому +97

      I like to think that addiction saved him from a world and a life he didn’t like, and when he thought he was enough, he came back and brought us his art. It’s just a nicer story that I like to believe but that’s just me

      @@edvin233 Interesting, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Can you explain?

    • @TJDrumsRHCP
      @TJDrumsRHCP 5 років тому +32

      @@BumsNJunkies Somewhere starting at 1990 until 1992 John wasn't at all happy about being in the band and in interviews he's said voices in is head told him to quit right after BSSM was released, to not have to go touring. John despised touring and becoming famous cause he'd feel like a monkey performing on stage the same old trick (song) over and over again in the exact same way, for money. But John staid until end of summer '92 until he had drug problems, drinking problems, band problems and mental health issues. When he couldn't take it anymore, he quit after playing one last show in Japan. That's the life addiction saved him from. For 5 years he made music, paintings and poems, did all kinds of drugs, mostly heroin, mostly in the name of freedom and creative freedom. At some point in 1997 he turned is life around, going to clinics to beat his addictions. Later on John would say he needed to go through the depths he went through in order to find peace with having to be a performer, next to being a musician, or something like that. Cause that's just what it takes to be the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, even if you're only in it for the musicianship like he was.

      TheTwicey RHCP Drum Covers,
      That sounds like codependent cr@p. Being an addict is a hell of a lot worse than being a success at something you love, which he was. Addiction doesn’t save anyone. It’s an excuse, and it kills people and ruins families.

    • @TJDrumsRHCP
      @TJDrumsRHCP 5 років тому +5

      @@beachgirl4583 the words I used are roughly the same words John himself used to describe his situation. It's very easy for normal people to judge both his commercial success and depths of addiction, but normal people like me, and probably you too, have experienced neither.

    I love how this performance portrays like a lonely man, playing from his heart and doing what he loves, and then when Chad and Flea come in, it seems like the man's friends will travel along him with his journey, like brothers.

    Even if some people don't realize it, these little cover songs that John does from time to time really show what an incredible musician he is because he's most likely figuring them out by ear and executing them PERFECTLY while at the same time putting his own style to them. John's talent is so massive, its clear at this point that in spite of all else, he had at this juncture exceeded the limitations of the 'Chili's..." Looking back, you might say, "I could see this coming," but its an incredible example a world class guitar player who was decimated by substance abuse that ran rampant in a band he agreed to play in, who was lucky enough to get him not once, but twice...and where his spirit is so much larger than those around him....He outgrew them, and today is so much better off....right on John!!!

    Funny thing is that 99.99% of those videos and pictures taken during concerts are hardly enjoyable cause of the shaky camera and terrible audio quality. Even funnier is that even though they know this, they would still do it the next time they go to another concert.

    This cover is just so perfect❤️ Flea’s baseline, Chad’s drumming and coaxing of the audience...made the song more emotional and heartfelt❤️

    What an amazing talent. Even though this isn't his song, his presentation of this song is stunning. I love John performing ballads (Emily) they suit him, allowing him to express himself and his feelings. I like the more grown-up John I see and hear in the ballads. If he put out an album/cd of his interpretations of other song writers ballads, I think it would be a true prize.
