One Kingdom. One God. One King. Stannis Baratheon.
Seven Kingdoms, Seven Gods, Seven Kings. Joffrey Baratheon, Robb Stark, Stannis Baratheon, Balon Greyjoy, Renly Baratheon, Aegon VI Targaryen And Daenyres Targaryen
***** Tommen? Euron?
TheCrackbinge Shush, Stop spoiling shit for show-watchers. Because you know some foolish old idiot wanders in comment sections and then subsequently starts complaining.
One Kingdom. One God. One King. Stannis Baratheon + TWO BOOBS
one-kingdom-one-God-one-Queen-Daenarys"Stormborn'Targaryan
Good video. Those two look good together...oh, and the guy is alright too. Lol!
I adore Stannis. He is absolutely, teeth-grindingly funny. Stephen Dilane plays him beautifully as a dour Yorkshireman. I giggle every time he opens his mouth. So glad others have noticed.
I'm definitely a Stannis man.
For the night is dark and full of terrors.
"Lord Celtigar calls it admirable, had I shown him the contents of my privvy he would have found it admirable."
^This. Made me a Stannerman
For some reason, I'm distracted from the discussion.
I know how you feel.
I really enjoyed this video. You did a great job presenting some classic Stannis moments and I like the comparison you make between him and Jon Snow. It would have been nice if Stannis had a son like him, but that's not how the story goes. I am a Stannis fan which is living dangerously for I know GRRM has probably very different plans for him than I would wish. I also like it when he tells Davos that "a good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad act the good." It's rather an interesting counter point to Melisandre telling Davos "if half an onion is black with rot it is a rotten onion." Though Stannis may be ensorcelled by Mel, he easily retains his core self I feel. It says so much about this fascinating and complex character. Thanks for making this video. I'm so pleased you two like him as I do.
Mary Harrison Thanks, he is quite a character. I was pleased to see them add a bit of his humor this season after missing it for the first four. I think if we do another humor episode it will be Dolorous Edd.
My god......I suggested instead of Tyrion we get a Wit and Wisdom (or rather, the Grit and Badassary of Stannis Baratheon and low and behold, you two actually went and done it). You two are truly deserving of all the thumbs up on UA-cam
Stannis would be flattered to know he was used as a backup topic video lol... *clinches jaw
What about the other show only moment on the Blackwater, Officer: "Sire, hundreds will die." Stannis: "Thousands."
You Guys make some great points. So glad u mentioned stannis quote "I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne". This is the moment I said to myself, stannis is the only person worthy of being king. And your point about Jon snow is great too. He needed to communicate better with his black brothers and explain his logic. He has some good point but just doesn't share them which would aggravate me too if I was a nights watchman. Instead it just looks like he's dropping his brothers and replacing them with wildlings
my knees, they are bending
I am quite convinced that Stannis was unaware of the 'shadow-babies' and the assassination of his brother. I don't think that this would be his first resort because at the time Stannis had more confidence in the battle experience of his men despite their numbers; the red women would be more likely to have come up with this plan and put it into action because all she would require is someones seed. Stannis's character is that of a honest, just, and hardened law man, I don't think he would soil that by stabbing a his own brother in the back and lie to his best friend about it afterwords.
Well done. Stannis definitely has the most laugh out loud funny quotes in the book, but I've always thought show Stannis was pretty hilarious too. I know a lot of book Stannis fans are disgusted by his portrayal on the show as being too subservient to the Red Woman (a couple of scenes in the third season were bad), but I think if you look hard enough, the show has done a decent job of capturing the essence of the mannis.
This is one of your best!!!
Oh good! You've got the donation link set up! I will donate tomorrow (on the holy holiday of payday!) Thanks for another great podcast!
MANNIS
pure luvin this channel, awesome analysis guys. Serial. For Stannis!
lotta good highlights here, couldn't agree more. Stannis has his flaws but when compared to the other contenders it's obvious that he would be the only person fit for the title. he's willing to suspend his ego and consider every option, it's that kind of contemplation that is such a valuable trait for a ruler. it's not about him, it's about doing what's necessary
One of my favorite Stannis quotes is the one youguys go over where he belittles Janos Slynt when theyre attempting to choose the new lord commander.
All that says "Stannis Baratheon is dead" are my foes!
He is very much alive!
"Do you want me to make you swear an oath to a TREE?" ~Stannis to jon Snow (Stannis humor)
He 'tells the truth and shames the devil' and that's why people despise him because he knows them for what they are and will say so,
most intriguing character in the books and he doesn't need dragons or to be a shapeshifter to be interesting, he just has a will of iron, courage to spare and great one liners (and no social skills whatsoever which is strangely endearing!) lovely vid, thankyou
These jokes are amazing; bring it back. Westeros History should be made out of iron, not pudding. Bring that hat back too, it's dope. And the smile.
"I'll have you know she [Margaery] came to my bed a maid."
"In your bed she's like to die that way."
STANNIS you didn't need to roast him so bad! No wildfire needed for that, Renly is toast.
This podcast episode and all the commenters made me believe in humanity again. STANNIS FOR KING!
just donated, thanks so much for a great podcast!
We'll see what we can do! If you haven't seen our Riverlands part 3 video, there's a good chunk on him in there to tide you over.
My passage for Stannis is when he and Davos are discussing what the lords are going to say during the war council.
I want a transcript of this - you 2 did great with this fun bonus episode!
Stannis's humour is the best.
Wow Ashaya actually stayed still, no nose rubbing and drinking soda afterwards. No Messing with her hair randomly and shifting around in her chair.
I love Stannis' character from the books better than the show.
The glasses kept her distracted from her nose and the hat kept her distracted from her hair.
HanzoSword01
Was there a soda can in this, I forget?
my days you'd think half of these people have never seen a woman before. why do people feel the need to comment on Ashayas body all the time. yes of course she is beautiful but come on guys have a bit of respect. Also it's obvious that both Aziz and Ashaya are deeply passionate about this remarkable story, as am I, and I am extremely appreciative of their intelligent and perceptive insights. Such attention to detail is amazing. Thanks guys, much respect and admiration from the UK :)
"Then we will make new lords"
Damn
INSTANT Thumbs up for your wildfyre joke!! :D
love your videos! thank u guys for doing such a good job. please please please do a video about sandor. i know u have mentioned his house, history and gregor but i think he deserves a video dedicated to him only.he s such a complex caracter, i would love to hear your opinion, analysis and predictions regarding him.
Maester Tybald," announced the knight of the moths.
The maester sank to his knees. He was red-haired and round-shouldered, with close-set eyes that kept flicking toward Theon hanging on the wall. "Your Grace. How may I be of service?"
Stannis did not reply at once. He studied the man before him, his brow furrowed. "Get up." The maester rose. "You are maester at the Dreadfort. How is it you are here with us?" from this can it be took that stannis has pink wax
I think this is the one:
The king stood outside his tent, staring into the nightfire. What does he see there?
Victory? Doom? The face of his red and hungry god? His eyes were sunk in deep pits, his
close-cropped beard no more than a shadow across his hollow cheeks and bony jawbone. Yet
there was power in his stare, an iron ferocity that told Asha this man would never, ever turn
back from his course."
It's from the chapter called "The King's Prize".
The producers have done a terrible job with Stannis thus far. Both Weiss and Benioff are on record saying they think Stannis would be a bad king. His best episode was Blackwater and that was written by George R.R. Martin. Season 2 annoyed me enough but after season 3 who knows how much of his positive impact will be altered next year. I am hoping the blatant misuse of his character is to create a huge personality swing where he begins resembling "book Stannis" after arriving at the Wall. As you alluded to, season 4 has alot of big scenes for Stannis as well as great lines. If these scenes are subdued or excluded, alot of fans will be even more pissed off. In the books it only hints that Stannis may arrive at the Wall and when Davos reads him the letter, it is under the light emanating from his sword "Lightbringer", which has not been mentioned since episode 1 of season 2. Lets hope Stannis is in line for a major turnaround but I am not holding my breath.
Alamo Patriot And we have now reached Season 5.....They have fucked up.
Good catch! That had not occurred to me. I had considered that Stannis wrote the "pink letter" instead of the Ramsay or Mance, but this got past me. When we do an Northern plots episode we'll make mention of this.
I just started listening your podcasts and watching the videos, and I really enjoy them so far! I agree with other comments that in some areas its a little too heavily scripted, and at the same time I also see why the scripting is necessary for a lot of the topics -- there's just so much material to cover! Although it does appear that the conversational tone picks up and the scripting lessens over time, so its clear that you both work really hard to improve the videos. I also really appreciate a fellow female nerd :) Great videos!
You guys are gooddd. I love stannis ad his cynical attitude toward everyone: everyone is an asshole to him. His dry wit is unmatched.
proper conversation starts at 1:57
I'm liking this Ashaya, I'm liking this a lot!
Seeing the dislike/usurper count, I think we're going to need one Storm and 12 leeches.
Jojen man were you been man!
"I defeated your uncle Victarion and his Iron Fleet off of the Fair Isle the first time your father crowned himself, I held Storm's End against the power of the Reach for a year, I took Dragonstone from the Targaryens, I smashed Mance Rayder at the Wall though he had twenty times my number. Tell me turncloak, what battles has the Bastard of Bolton ever won that I should fear him?"
I can't agree more. Stannis and Edd are the funniest
Under the video where it says Published Sept 8 there's a "show more" link. Click on that and you'll find the Paypal link.
the most telling quote about Stannis is "and everyone hates Stannis" Tyrion says it in ADWD, the important thing is why, the lords of Westeros don't hate him because he is antisocial or ruthless or dour or cold, they hate him because he is honest. The entire ASOIAF universe is based on lying, Stannis is the one man in the room who won't lie and so he is a mirror which shows the rest of them what they are, that they have sold their soles, their kin, their oaths and he won't pretend otherwise
funniest stannis scene: jon cuts janos slynts head off, looks to stannis, he gave a confirming nod. I laught so fucking hard. Just imagining Stannis with his dead serious nod out of nowhere
Ashaya you are such a beauty!
Guys, lose the scripted intro and just wing it, you're much better when you wing it.
Holypikemanz are the laughs in the script too omg
Yeah. The scripted stuff (which seems to be most of the videos) seems forced and I roll my eyes through alot of it. Just use your notes for quoting characters, and for organizing segments, and improv the rest guys. Trust me, the improv has to be better.
When I come back these years later and remember the butchery the series has made of the source material, I find myself feeling a strong sense of melancholy. Fuckin' showrunners
"Pray harder." XD
Nice work guys! Very entertaining for us Stannis fans.
Though I fear that George may have an ending for him we may not like too much...
Congrats again 😊
I like stannis n davos to not enough is said for how much he brings to stannis character he like his conscious n he has several personality traits that stannis dont have such as ability to speak n when people to your side curisma. Stannis the mannis!
I vote for an analysis of Stannis's impending siege of Winterfell!
Stannis Baratheon : king of the Andals and the Grammar Trolls
But wait, it has to be said that repetition is the key to comedy!
Good to see some love for Stannis. Also Aziz looks weridly similar to a young Alejandro Jodorowsky.
let me be the first to congratulate you nice podcast and chest, thanks
repetition is the key to comedy
On my third or fourth ASOIAF reread, and I'm just starting to warm to Stannis' dry wit. It reminds me of that Monty Python sketch about the crime lord who was the terror of the London underworld by ruling through sarcasm.
Poor Renly (although he deserved it >:| )... in the end Tommen got Margaery ;)
yep, everyone started to like Stannis more, then they made the fans hate him
Some more Stannis humour: "First we at the horses, we weren't riding anywhere, so, fine. Then the cats, I don't like cats, so fine..."
(Just before the blackwater, GoT show link: A Clash Of Kings HBO - Episode 8 - Stannis And Davos)
ok maybe you guys can help me. ive been trying to find the passage about stannis that is about how determined he is and how he will never quit. asha realizes this about him. im pretty sure its from dance with dragons. :)
thanks!
Suprised E-ro hasnt been all over this.
yes thats exactly the one! thank you so much! :)
Stannis must be autistic, he has so many gold corns sayings, wits and wisdom
thanks Jenny!
I've always been rooting for Stannis the mannis.
Off topic, what are your guys's thoughts on Benjen Stark being Coldhands the character in the books that guides Brandon and his crew to the home of the children of the forest?
According to notes from GRRM himself he is not.
+Michael 'hyrex' Taylor
I hear you. And i used to take that note that GRRM wrote as scripture, although...
Maybe it's just the show infiltrating the book part of my brain, but what if it actually IS Benjen. Just not exactly. What if Coldhands is actually the reanimated body of a dead Benjen? Technically it wouldn't be Benjen, because he would be dead. But maybe since the Night's King is powerful enough to raise the dead, maybe he is powerful enough to warg humans. Idk. It's super tin foily, but it's something i've been thinking about recently and haven't really seen anyone else talking about. I just think it would fit GRRM's style to reveal a secret character to be someone we already know (Arstan/Barristan is the obvious example, and Griff & Young Griff/Jon Con & Aegon is a close one as well). I mean, where the hell else is Benjen and how would he survive up there all this time? Unless GRRM really does plan on his story ending in AGOT, but i really hope that's not the case.
4:11
I..........think that's........completely the wrong tone.
Haha, yeah Stannis probably doesn't hit those high notes.
lovin the podcast guys keep them coming, but should we love Stannis? I suspect GRRM might have a dastardly wicked destiny for the old teeth grinder.
nice Podcast:)
Who is the second funniest in A Song of Ice and fire?
Arana975 tough call between Dolorous Edd and Tyrion...
Arana975 nice breast
what?

Very interesting insights into Stannis' mind set as regards the succession, it's my firm belief that once Stannis hears of Aegons landing in the storm lands he will put aside his claim (despite his brothers rebellion against the Targaryens) and living by his strict code of honour and righteousness support Aegons call to arms.
I'd be delighted to be wrong, but that's how I see it going down.
But only if aegon truly is a targaryen
Not if he isn't sure he is a true Targ. Imo he is a Blackfyre
that season finale, I was like ... as wtf as jon sno and mance were. wtf is going on ...
question why did not Stannis wanted wildlings (Freefolks) women to fight for him?
He's old school. Men fight, women stay in the kitchen.
(ASoIaF is based on medieval times. Women didn't go to war.)
hehe menace.
I thought only george could look hot in that hat
Stannis the Mannis!
SPOILER WARNING! :
If Stannis does not kick the shit out of Boltons, Freys and Karstarks.....I'm gonna piss myself!!!!
wild fire does exist, it's known as greek fire
Fury burns.
If your attention was to distract us from what you're actually saying, job well done.
Scale the summit?
Damn i love women... love those tanktops too
Unfortunately I find it really difficult to understand the female speaker sometimes but overall a good video.
Love guys great episode again and could I point out one of my own theory's could meera reed be Jon snow's tiny there are the same ages and howland reed was on campaign with Ned in the south so how could he father meera! Jon and meera look similar and Are small slight and black haired and and meera has near grey eyes, think on lol
G RR Martin's hat? :)
good shew
Aziz? really?
Thank you very much for this. Good insight. Too bad benoff and ass face are sure to cast stannis a tyrant.
Stannis or nothing.
Prey harder! Brilliant.
The scripted bits....not so much.
Stannis is a kinslayer, there is no redemption from that. He also cannot use any excuse of law/duty as he backed Robert during his rebellion as well.
This video also tries to take his humour seem mirthful. Really his humour is spiteful scoffing, mostly done while grating his teeth in frustration and never with a smile.
Would you follow a kinslayer? Would you follow someone who is never merry? Would you follow someone who refused your peaches?
Streltsy1 You can't really change peoples mind over Stannis because those people understand what type of a person Stannis.A person like you will never understand cuz you don't get it.
+Burhan the Somali Well said!
+Streltsy1So what that he is guilty of kinslaying? Tyrion killed his own father.Renly deserved to die as did Tywin
