Christine is amazing and such an inspiration to all of us ladies! Thanks for sharing with us, your visit with her. I hope we will get to visit with her again as she gets more and more done on her awesome fish room.
"Youre really lazy?...." Christine, HOLY .............! That fish room is friggin insanely great! An unbelievably fantastic beautifully done fish room. I am so envious of your handy woman work. Love the small cichlid habitats. K.O.D.I.Y., thanks for a great video and to both of you thanks for sharing .
Fish keeping is for everyone and I'm so glad to help friends set up tanks for their kids. Or at least take care of them since I only do Africans. When I was 11 a family friend set up my first tank for me... 10 years later and still going strong. Started as a kid, turned into a woman somewhere along the way.
As a young female in this hobby, I can completely confirm that this hobby is male dominated. Particularly by older males. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just nice to see some diversity! I actually work as a professional aquarist and I can say that I am one of only 2 females working as aquarists in the whole company. This fish room is absolutely beautiful! And totally something I aspire to have some day. :D Right now my bedroom is basically a fish room with a bed in the middle of it.
+Sharpie SeaDragon Everyone starts somewhere! Im not allowed tanks in the bedroom anymore. Every since the alligator gar smashed through the glass lids on the tank I had in the bedroom, it has been a tough sell to get another one in there! ahah
Sharpie SeaDragon my 55 gal goldfish tank was basically a room divider that hid my bed from view in my living room! I loved it, I could lay there and watch my big goodies flutter around, the sound of the water helped me sleep better too... 🐳
My bedroom is pretty much my fish room too. I've got a pair of 55 gallons by my bed so I can watch my Oscars and my discus and I have a rack of 20 gallons and 10 gallons to grow out fry. on my opposing wall I have a rack of planted nano tanks and a couple of betta tanks.
I love your videos, and it means a lot to me as a young female in the hobby that you have more women on the show! It's exciting and very encouraging to see. All I have is a little measly 5 gallon but i put my heart and soul into keeping it cleaned, filtered, cycled, and beautiful.
Really cool of you to specifically promote women & children fishkeepers. :) It's definitely a male-dominated hobby, and I appreciate the awareness coming from such a popular fishkeeper. Christine's room is amazing, and I'm so glad we got to see it!
So wonderful to see you introducing woman and children in this hobby. I could only hope that one of my children will have the same passion as I do. Looking forward to your next brilliant idea! :)
I like how she says "Im very lazy" in response to the air question, yet... The entire room is freaking incredible!!! I mean this is crazy impressive and very inspirational! ☺️👍🏼👍🏼
WOW, just wow! Christine has got it going on. I love the fish room. She literally utilized every single space in the room. She is awesome. I would never want so many tanks lol, the maintenance alone is a deterrent for me, but when MTS takes you, .... you go LOL
Also, Please, Please throw more of these videos of other DIY fishkeepers and their setups every so often! We like to see what others are doing so we can do it better!
I was glad to see the pvc corner bracket light...I was considering doing the same thing...and now I know it works....yeah... I am a female fish keeper too...5 tanks at present +3 more in the planning stages..I dont see myself ever having any more than 10...well...we''ll see..fish keeping."hobby"?.....addiction is a better word for it.....
definitely allot cleaner than most of us men's fishroom.. her floor is especially clean.. and it took only a year to set that up? man! hope i can find a wife like her
for how much she has going I really think she does an excellent job keeping it looking clean. I am all about a smooth layout but def D.I.Y. Awesome Thank you, Joey!
Follow me ► facebook.com/uarujoey Christine built her entire fish room herself. Showing us just how much is possible with a small amount of space! It certainly does help that DIY is a huge part of her hobby as is evident within her room! Check out my coverage of THE BIG FISH DEAL ► goo.gl/ySFZMG
Vivienne Damone It says for herself. It's her hobby. Some people buy a new car, some people go on vacation, some people spend for their college tuition, some people buy a new boat, a plane, etc.
Thank you so much for promoting women (and kids) in this hobby! I've been totally ignored in a LFS by one guy, then after a while he's like "you want a goldfish in a bowl or something?" Came in on another day and got anothe man who tried to sell me inferior livestock then got upset when I noticed and said "to be fair, I didn't think a little girl would know the difference." I'm 23 years old!! I tried it a third and final time (because it's my only LFS and was served by a really nice guy who confirmed that the other two are in fact jerks.
That is one awesome fish room definitely the TOP 1 on my list of best fish rooms out there!! Even though it is a work in progress, she has great system to keep the tanks and fish going!! 👏🏻👍🏻
Wow, what a lady, great fishroom. I've got only eight tanks and it takes me two hours daily to do waterchanges, cleaning, feeding, etc .... great video, like always !
Such a cool room. It's nice to see women getting more into the hobby. My local GPASI club is becoming more equal in terms of male/female. You should definety go back there in a years time and see how the room has progressed! Great video Joey
This really motivates me to build my own fish room! My partner and I currently have an intex pool as a pond, a 5ft ranchu and oranda tank and a 6ft Oscar tank. We're looking into breeding our true Japanese TVR's soon so we'd probably need a bigger set up soon!
This is INSANE! I'm in awe and am super jealous. Would love to have a tank room like that, though id be looking at the fish all day and forget everything that id need to do to maintain it :D Her own little seaworld. Good on you Christine!
its good seeing all these fish I try to encourage people to buy an aquarium its a great skill to have it teaches the value of life not to mention its very relaxing just watching the fish live.
please reply to the two questions at the end, but first: Props for highlighting woman and kids in the aquarium hobby! Especially considering it was my single mother who got me interested in my first aquarium as a young child . And yes, clean floor=a clear state of mind. That's probably why she was able to do so much work in such a short amount of time, and do it so affectively. So that brings me to my two questions. Was that rope LED in the quarter round ? Or what kind of LED lighting was it? Two, what is a "dump filter"? I've never heard the term used before.
+RAD Aquatics - the light in the PVC corner trim was the same kind of strip light Joey used in his LED video with the gutter setup. A "dump filter" is what the folks in my club call the filter that sits on top of the tank. Water goes up with the pump, then gets passively dumped back to the tank. I guess we call it that since it rhymes with "sump" but is sort of the opposite water flow.
I just found your channel... LOVE IT. I just started my fish hobby again after 11 long years going without them... Working on some basic molly cross colors, fin lenths as well as dorsal lengths.. Loving it so far
I am a 15 year old that breeds African cichlids, I am gonna ship some fry out on Monday, very excited ! Many people doubt me but I know my way around the hobby
I love this kind of content, that not only promotes inclusion in the fish community but also just really amazing and skilled fish people (not a great title but i have no idea how else to put it)/fish keepers :D!!!
+Timm Lombardo Oh boy Timm, you are going to hash up some feelings!! I remember the day I hit 100 subs and how I lost my mind when i hit 1,000! I remember how it was a DREAM to reach 10,000 and never thought it was possible. While the numbers can be exciting mile stones, I must say that i continue to do what i do because i love it. Case in point: It took me 4 years to reach 171 subscribers.... during those 4 years I didn't make a penny from my videos(because you couldn't back then). So obviously money or fame was never a motivation. Even though things have changed, i still operate my channel with the same integrity and passion that i had from day 1. Yes, I certainly remember where I came from and never forget why it is i do what i do. The day i am no longer having fun, or the day when i compromise my integrity or lose my passion... is the same day i will stop making videos. Life is entirely too short to pretend. Joey
Ok to actually give a meaningful comment. This setup is amazing. Very well done and thought out I'm extremely jealous. Just last night my fiancé said I don't need 3 tanks in the house..
Her room looks awesome. I'm in the planning stages on my fish room(20-40tanks)n currently looking for a house. I enjoy looking at other peoples fish room n getting ideas to make water changes n fill ups faster. I tried doing the LED gutter light it worked but the lights are a lot lower then the current leds fixtures I was using but would like to use this as it will save money on electric
+The king of DIY yeah do you have another idea for brighter led strips? The RBG in your video the whites are too low I'm used to 10000k lights on my cichlid tanks
Amazing fish room! Is she saying "dump filters"? Could you maybe do a video on these type of filters and how they work? I did a search online for them and could not find anything. Thank you!
Nice to here that there are more young females in this hoppy than me. I've been watching Christine´s channel and Jenna´s with the goldfish. Women have a different approach than men when they talk about this hoppy so I think its good to have both.
really like these vids joey if i would make one change but could you show a bit more footage of the fish or at least any that are some of your/owners favorites
Hey joey I know this doesn't have anything to do with This video but I was wondering if you could do a massive in depth video on how to care/provide/keep arowana your the person I'd listen over all others on most things and especially arowanas and I'd love to see a big video going over everything from tank size to food to tank mates ect anyways just thought I'd ask I'm willing to bet you've been asked a million times already but I'd really love to see a video on it Thank you A massive fan all the way from New Zealand
Yay for Christine. I love her and she is such a talented breeder and all around excellent human being.

+The king of DIY So the way to have no algae and nearly a maintenance tank is to have no live plants and no snails

is this a business/cant imagine the work and the electric bill.
