It’s pretty likely that *optimal* health for many people can only be achieved through animal nutrition. Imagine person #1, who eats a vegan diet full of the best plant foods. Leafy greens, beans/legumes, berries, citrus, whole grains, etc Now compare them to person #2 with the same genetics who also adds in a few oysters per day, and supercharges their Zinc, B12, Taurine, n-2 position DHA omega3, retinol, heme iron, iodine, choline etc intake in addition to many other peptides/highly absorbable protein. Which person is healthier? We know the nutrients I just listed off are associated with numerous health benefits and lower risk of illnesses. Now person #1 could try and dissect all the benefits of oysters into supplements but 1) they are expensive 2) quality isn’t ensured as they aren’t FDA regulated and 3) we aren’t sure what cofactors/forms of nutrients in the oysters aren’t being replicated by the supplements. Perhaps even the forms of said supplements are irritating to the gut, stressing the body. All of that trouble when you could have just eaten a $3.99 pack of smoked oysters …. Or a can of sardines …. Or some quality pastured eggs. So who is healthier? The vegan trying desperately to fill the gaps in their diet with synthetic supplements? Or the person who eats both the best plant foods and animal foods, including things like goat milk, seafood, bison, pastures eggs, etc. I think we all know the answer to this question…
@@mikebrigandi_You didn’t address my argument. I posed the question whether someone is healthier as a supplemented vegan, or using the healthiest animal foods rather than supplements - because you can’t get all the nutrients I listed off as a vegan without supplements. The studies you mention are marred by the confounding factor of health consciousness. When you compare vegans who tend to be health conscious to meat eaters who don’t, the results are unsurprising. Equally unsurprising is the fact that in blue zone regions, the healthiest animal foods that I mentioned are consumed. I’m not telling people to eat processed sausages and chicken nuggets, I’m telling them to eat wild caught salmon etc … OBJECTIVELY healthy foods.

"If you show me that one person being vegan saves even 1 cow's life, I'll go vegan right now." @33:37 There is an easy answer to this. Supply chains have COMPUTERS now to predict exactly how many animals should be impregnated to meet current demand. So, if the demand decreases by one animal, then their computers will communicate to the supply chain to adjust accordingly. So back to our world, let's say there is cow steak on the meat aisle. And lets say the meat section ALMOST over-produced by one cow and was ALMOST losing profit on producing this cow, but the threshold is just one steak purchase, and that would make them break even. Well, in that case, you NOT buying that steak would therefore be enough for them to say, okay, we overproduced this time around. Let's produce one less this time. Maybe easier to understand is chicken, since they are smaller and have a more concrete impact. A meat eater can buy multiple of these birds per month. If a store suddenly was, on average, selling 3010 chickens per month, but then their computer started to communicate that they are now selling on average 3000 chickens per month, that is the data they will send to the hatchery in order to impregnate chickens appropriately. It's very easy to be granular with these things when record keeping is so easy these days.
As a woman I need animal protein and animal based iron to function and be healthy. So yes, as much as I love animals I need them to survive. Not willing to sacrifice my life. Besides it’s the circle of life. I’m against factory farming and animal cruelty but not against eating meat.

@@mikebrigandi_ nope not true. I suffer from anemia so I’m very well informed on what the body actually needs to be well when it comes to iron. We need heme iron, which can only be found in animals.
