Been keeping fish for 23 years and the things people say sometimes are crazy. I’ve heard so many people go on and on about plants and all you have to do to keep them nice and growing. I just put them in regular gravel and done. My tanks are lush and beautiful without any extra work. I rarely remember to use fertilizer. So to your point, things work in different ways for different people. Nice video.

After they give me the ok I'm thinking of starting with plants and as I go buy decorations for the tank. Hopefully within the next few months I'll add some fish...starting with kuhli loaches🥰! In the end it will be a betta community tank. I can't wait❤️
Its crazy how good food and good water conditions help a fish grow fast. I have Cichlids and a couple of them have grown more than doubled in size in 1 month.

I converted my salt tank to peacock cichlids and I am using my sump and sponge filters. I have a 126 gallon tank. I’ve been considering switching to a canister. What are your thoughts on changing? Great videos by the way
What your opinion on getting rid of Brown Algae . Tanks been running for a year. I figure I must have a bunch of silicates in my water. I use just sponge filters. Trying to get rid of it and was curious if you had any secrets.
Usually that’s an indication of too many nutrients in the water. More frequent water changes will help. Another option is to have less light on the tank (or have the lights on for a shorter duration). Aquarium plants can also help balance it out.
I have a newly set up dirted tank that is heavily planted. The plants are growing. Do I need to wait for bacteria to establish if I’m using plants for biological filtration?
I'm pretty new to all this doing a ton of research before setting up my first tank, I'm looking at setting up a 150Gallon tank and ideally I would like to have 3-5 species of different tetras, about 20-30 per species, it'll be a heavily planted tank. But would that be too many fish for a 150?
Wait, you can do a saltwater tank without RO water?? My husband wants a saltwater tank but I’ve been putting it off because I’ll end up taking care of it and I don’t want to deal with the hassle of RO water.
With reefs, RO can be better, but some people have had reef tanks with treated tap water (by dechlorinating and adding their own salt). More so FOWLR tanks is where you don’t need RO.
I have put tons and tons of ceramic rings, biological media, in the tank and from then on no loss of even a single fish.. It's heavily stocked with goldfishes and in the other partition a huge flowerhorn..
I constantly read that if you do water changes with tap water that has 1ppm ammonia in it your fish will die. I've been doing it for 15+ years and have never had fish die because of water changes.
When I started fishkeeping again for the 3rd time in early 2020, I discovered my water has 1ppm ammonia in it. I freaked out at first, I already had a tank running for months and had just put fish in it. I dosed prime everyday and constantly tested the water, it would always be 1ppm. I've used other test strip brands and even the api master test kit, always reads 1ppm ammonia. But since my fish haven't been dying, I've just accepted that my water is just gonna read 1pmm ammonia everytime and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. I've now been breeding shrimp for the past month in this water just fine!
It’s usually fine, especially in an established tank that can break it down and convert it. If you add a dechlorinator that can bond/capture the ammonia for 24 hours, the beneficial bacteria that you have in your tank usually can break it down. Plants help too!
I was told exactly that. Wait 24hrs and add the fish. So I bought the fish (betta) that day and figured I’d add him 2 days later. On the way home my husband asked why that was. That’s how I found out about the nitrogen cycle. Had we not gotten curious I would’ve killed that fish. Smh
Are you sure you really can’t work a one day aquarium setup. I think all you need are those Bio-quickstarter beneficial bacteria products then weekly water change done! It worked when I’m not UA-cam aware 2006-2010. I mean not all my fish I die when I setup quickly. There is even tap in my water.
I don't believe in the cycling process of an aquarium. I add my fish the same day or maybe the day after I set up a new aquarium and never had an issue. I think bacterias will grow much faster if they have something to eat, like fish poop. Of course it will take some time for the colony to grow, so water changes like once a day is necessary the first week as the tiny amount of bacterias can not handle all of the waste that the fish produce. But the procedure of waiting a month before adding fish is not necessary at all. Just waste of time. If you have chlorinated water, wich I dont't. Then you have to wait a day or two, to get that vented out (as mentioned in the video). Or add dechlorinator to speed up that process.
Thanks for the video. Do you sell fish or have a fish business? You all have too many tanks. Why do you have lots, it's like hoarding. I have 2 and that makes me happy and the fish get more attention then having loads of tanks. And the maintenance is much easier.
I used to have an aquarium service business. You could say that UA-cam is one of my jobs, and this fishroom is a big part of my UA-cam channel. I also work for Aquarium Co-Op (also on the UA-cam side), so aquariums and UA-cam are my full time jobs.
Still don’t know why you need so many tanks. UA-cam or not. Sometimes folks go overboard. I like your gym. I got the full circuit in my basement. Hope you don’t have move. We moving next year to Tennessee and I worried about my fish and I only have 6. fish.
I have this many tanks because I enjoy them. It’s like asking someone that has more than one car, bicycle, more than one dog, etc. It’s for my enjoyment, and I also get to share them with thousands of people on the internet. If you have two tanks, maybe that’s great for you. I have 30, and that works well for me.
What’s wrong with my hair??!! It’s my natural hair color. Are you saying that I should go back to dying my hair? I started getting silver hair in high school. By my mid 30s I was salt and pepper so I started coloring it. Now in my mid 40s, it’s mostly all silver. I decided to just keep it natural.
@@TazawaTanks You're telling me that silver is natural? I really don't totally believe that lol. It looks like the tone all the chicks are dyeing their hair.
@@Jbayz Yep, 100% natural. I last dyed my hair in early/mid 2020. No roots left either. Just the few remaining black hairs holding on! Lol! If you zoom in on some of my recent videos, you’ll see that the stubble of my beard is white too. 😩 When I had a beard, I was coloring it because I didn’t want to look super old. 👴🏾😜

@@TazawaTanks Yep I have been doing both for a long time now. Love the channel. Keep up the good work.
Yes. We had a 77gal fish only salt tank and used only tap...it worked perfectly. Well, there was salt, as well...😉
I have put tons and tons of ceramic rings, biological media, in the tank and from then on no loss of even a single fish..
I just put a gym in my garage! A power cage❤️
Sweet! I hope to see posts about it on Instagram!
In the hobby scene 1973 I could not agree more.
Tell me what I can use for my Oscar as a hiding place. PVC PIPE . How big if so?
Got them 5 stars I see 👀
I was told exactly that. Wait 24hrs and add the fish. So I bought the fish (betta) that day and figured I’d add him 2 days later. On the way home my husband asked why that was. That’s how I found out about the nitrogen cycle. Had we not gotten curious I would’ve killed that fish. Smh
When I just started keeping fish someone at the fish store told me I have to remove the fish to do water change
What?! That’s crazy! 😝
This is basically the same advice I give to new aquarists. (As well as cycled bio-media) Now I can just send them to your channel for the run down.
"Planted tanks with Discus is too complicated! You'll have more success with a bare bottom!"
The worst:
This is not "natural"!
This tank is too small!
The thumbnail gave me Zoolander vibes
I didn't know you had hair lol.
Anybody else see the fish fighting in the back?🤭
Yeah, with Malawi peacocks, it’s pretty much all of the time. The trick is how to manage aggression with these fish.
✊🏽💯
I fell for the 24 hours… RIP to the fish lost that time
Thanks for the video.
Gatorade!!!!
I like to add some dirt.
Last week lfs told me Bettas are fighting fish and they will kill other fish. Ha most fish pick on my beta boy.
Generality never benefits anyone. That’s why rules can be bad
Use tap water in your reef tank...let me know what happens...? Smh
I wouldn’t say that it’s ideal, but I’ve seen people treat tap water many times to have reef tanks…and their reefs are flourishing.

Bro, that hair? lol come on. I get it, you've gotten a boost being hired by aquarium co op but that hair bruh. that hair lol
@@TazawaTanks I think your hair looks great!
@@TazawaTanks You're telling me that silver is natural? I really don't totally believe that lol. It looks like the tone all the chicks are dyeing their hair.
Maybe its the roots of whats left of what you dyed before that make it look like that now that I look at it more.
@@Jbayz Yep, 100% natural. I last dyed my hair in early/mid 2020. No roots left either. Just the few remaining black hairs holding on! Lol! If you zoom in on some of my recent videos, you’ll see that the stubble of my beard is white too. 😩
When I had a beard, I was coloring it because I didn’t want to look super old. 👴🏾😜
