    Thanks Rocco. Awesome and informative video as always. You have a unique way of verbalizing what to do and what not to do in ALL of your videos. I have been watching and useing your videos for close to two years with a 100% success rate because of your videos working on my own and other Harleys. Two weeks ago I became a certified tech at a local dealership!!! I one hundred and ten percent suggest and recommend your videos on a regular basis to folks that are new to Harleys or to those that are just unsure. I may not have ever been so motivated in career choice had it not been for your videos Rocco. Please don't ever stop making them. There value is unmeasurable they can actually change a person's whole life for the better!!!

      1989 1989 1989 Sportster. Totally Different setup. Clutch cover is a solid part of the primary. Inspection cover hole is only big enough for clutch screw adjustment. Unfortunately, whole primary cover has to come off. Inner Ramp is secured on the inside of the primary cover/clutch cover with a lock plate and screw. There is also a nut, seal and copper washer on the cable, three more things to go bad! 1989 1989 1989 woohoo fun!! Fortunately, the rest of my life is not this difficult :)

    Hopefully you read this in time before I redo my cable again this week. When I was screwing lower part of cable in, the threads snapped on me. I see that you had way more pressure on your wrench then I had used on mine. Could it be that since I had an aftermarket cable(from a well known company) that it is just weaker than the stock ones?

    Hey Rocco I have a 2002 sportster 1200 xlh with straight bars just like yours in the video. Im having issues finding the right clutch cable to replace my current one which is too long and sticks out over the headlight. I ordered one recently off a website and it was to short even though It said it would fit my bike. Do you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated

    • @TwoWheelRocco
      @TwoWheelRocco  3 роки тому +1

      If you have the short one on the bike and add how many inches you need then total it and order that cable. If you have the long one on your bike minus what you think and then order that size cable. Give your self a little room to work with. That how I do it. Hope that helps. If you use Permatex or Loctite 515 flange sealant on the cable threads on the cable and cover (after washing off any oil with carb cleaner) they'll rarely leak. If you want O-rings you can measure the one you have then buy a bag off Ebay etc for small change. (Choose Viton, Buna or similar rings.) The cable O- ring for my 1992 is 1/2" OD, 5/16" ID and 3/16" thick. (I'm doing a clutch cable today so while I'm dodging the heat I figured I'd add to a video or two. I've done many cables on many brands. That ring size should fit all Evo Sporties.
    The accordion boot they give you with new cables the "protect" the inline cable adjuster is a moisture trap and the reason I had to replace the cable I"m doing today. Previous owner didn't lube his adjuster threads so the boot trapped humidity and the adjuster rusted into junk. I give my adjuster threads a good coat of clear silicone "tuneup" grease (Permatext, any auto store, get the big tube) instead which helps exclude moisture.

    hiya rocco, dont know if you recall i had a question about adjusting my clutch, your videos are extremely helpful. but i have to report i was still having an issue of every three days having to take out the play in the clutch lever cust the clutch was dragging and i couldnt shift to N at a standstill, I chacked the adjustment one more time to makes sure I was spot on took the play out of the cable and set it to 1/8 inch and rode it... however going down the road no three blocks from my house stopped at stop sign went to shift from first to second gear and the cable appears to have broken as it went all the way to the grip and i could not shift.... so im in the process of removing the cable to determine what length it is to replace, as my bike has 14" apes on it ... ill let ya know more when I see whats going on in there. thanx again Rocco for the information =)
