I sometimes get sick of everything going to plastic, but in all honesty, these are quicker and easier to clean than the metal carbs. Admittedly, you do have to be careful not to crack them when tightening and handling them.

99.9% of the time when I am in the garage, I am using metric sockets on small engine equipment. Rarely do I use SAE sockets. Only SAE socket I keep nearby are 1/4 for hexagon bits and 1/2 cause I always lose my 13mm sockets 😂.
I also love those plastic carbs. I never even take out the center thing. Clean the hole and blow cleaner through it.

Great job in showing how to clean a plastic carburetor. I prefer engines with metal carburetor. LOL

You can clean the gunk in the main jet as many times as you want, however, it will stop up again and again because the federal government wanted fuel efficiency and as a result the opening in that main jet is 0.12-0.13" in diameter (this where all the gas to the engine must pass through). You need to drill out the main jet to .021" to make sure it does not clog up. This is the diameter of most small engines without the plastic carb and it works just fine and even better at .021".

That mower is in nice shape for a 2012?! Still starts first pull after all these years. Not bad lol. Nice work as always Henry!

Thank you for making this video, my Hyper Tough 20" push mower with the Briggs & Stratton 300e series engine has this same carb and after a ton of rain here (flooding conditions) I've got to now do this job. I'm always really good about storing my mowers and running all my lawn tools completely out of fuel before putting them away but I guess some water got into the fuel somehow so it's time to fix it. I use a 1995 Garden Way Troy Bilt walk behind for the majority of my grass cutting but there's places that won't fit and so I keep a cheap push mower around for that. I intend to use it for as long as I can altho the right front wheel rusted off and I was able to fix it, now we have carb trouble. A lot of people don't like these plastic carbs but they seem easier to clean and they're not just put on the cheapest mowers but on a lot of them.

Wow, contact cleaner! I have to try that. The carb cleaner will swell the O rings and stuff. Good tip!

Those carb bolts are metric, 7 and 8 mm respectively. I prefer a Milwaukee driver drill with adjustable torque settings for small engine bolts. I save the impact for cylinder head, flywheel, blade bolts etc.

Yeppers. Impact on these is a no-no.

Nice job and great video, Henry. I really like the plastic Briggs carb and also the x50EX series Briggs engines (especially the 750EX). Much better auto choke setup than the Quantums with fewer problems. The carbs are easy to clean and the OHV engines are fuel efficient, run much cooler and are lighter weight too.

0:02 I don't bother cleaning them I just go to Amazon and buy another one they're only like $25 less of a hassle less of a headache you're done with the issue up and running all over again

Like I said, I’ve had good luck with them, 10 minute carb clean is better than wasting $25.

@@MowersNBlowersDitto. These are actually faster to remove, clean, and replace than metal carbs, although I still prefer the metal carbs. I've never cracked or ruined one like I did a plastic one once.
